I'm uploading Illinois for Captain Canada, anyone else want it?

Glitterati 01-16-2006 07:41 PM

I've only heard a few songs off of Doolittle, like Debaser and Wave Of Mutilation. Surfer Rosa is the only full one I have, which I love.

I really hate usernames that have a synonym for the word 'penis' in them.

Is it necessary to point out my Canadianess like that?

No Pixies?

You shouldn't be ashamed. Accept your heritage.

Lunch 01-16-2006 08:57 PM

Let's see:
Spirit = awesome. I have their S/t, The Family that Plays Together, Clear, and 12 Dreams. 12 Dreams in one of my favorite albums. When I Touch You is stunning.

I'm gonna take some credit for whoring them out to people here.

TheDMV 01-16-2006 08:59 PM
Who are you?

Edit:

"Who Who, Who Who"
:lol::lol:

The fact you edited that in is brilliant. That's the song that got me into the Who.

Lunch 01-16-2006 09:02 PM

I think it's annoying.

pigonthewing82 01-16-2006 09:09 PM

I thought it was a good song, I just could never understand how it became so huge.

Glitterati 01-16-2006 09:09 PM
I think it's annoying.
Yeah, it's ok, not the best Who song. I'm more of a "Won't Get Fooled Again" type of guy.

Brewer14 01-16-2006 09:11 PM
Yeah, it's ok, not the best Who song. I'm more of a "Won't Get Fooled Again" type of guy.
Recommend me some Who besides WGFA or Who Are You, or something that isn't heard on the radio everyday please :)

Illmatic 01-16-2006 09:12 PM

"I Can See For Miles"++

PinkFreud 01-16-2006 09:12 PM

who are you has great drumming though.
Recommend me some Who besides WGFA or Who Are You, or something that isn't heard on the radio everyday please :)
Tommy and Quadrophenia, then Live at Leeds.
who are you has great drumming though.
Yea, because with Who songs, it's usually pretty hard to find one with great drumming :p

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-16-2006 09:13 PM

They really are a good band, really underrated. Why do they always get considered a Bay Area scene band when they really came from LA?

/just found out

Did anyone catch 24 yesterday and today? I can't believe they killed off Palmer.

PinkFreud 01-16-2006 09:15 PM
Yea, because with Who songs, it's usually pretty hard to find one with great drumming :p
yeah but who are you has particularly great drumming.

MidnightRider 01-16-2006 09:15 PM
"I Can See For Miles"++
For some reason, this song gets on my nerves. As does Who Are You.

robo2448 01-16-2006 09:15 PM
who are you has great drumming though.
Yeah but the rest of Who Are You (the album) had Moon's worst drumming of his career. I always wonder what would've happened if Keith didn't die so early. I doubt much would have turned out that different though, because The Who had bigger problems than Kenny Jones on their last two albums.

I like Who Are You, but it's really overrated. It may have become so big because the rest of the album is pretty mediocre if not bad and fans were desperate for a good song.

jpj 01-16-2006 09:32 PM

Does anyone know why there is a version of Illinois without Superman? That's the one I got, and I'm upset...I want Superman :(
DC Comics' decision to protect their intellectual property (which will likely have the indie-children rioting in the streets) and force Stevens' record company to remove the illustration of Superman renders the album cover pointless.
Oh.

Phallus Dei 01-16-2006 09:33 PM

This is pissing me off MX just blocked me off for an hour cause I kept trying to figure out my password, and now the one that was sent in my email doesn't work.

Pinball Wizard, Baba O'Riley, My Generation....famous songs, but still good. If you like those, try the albums Who's Next or Quadrophenia.

pigonthewing82 01-16-2006 09:40 PM

I think the best Who recommondation I can make is to get Live at Leeds. I can't see anybody listening to that album and walk away not liking the Who.

Dimebag Dom 01-16-2006 10:01 PM

I Love That Album!!!

thickasabrick 01-16-2006 10:22 PM

Yeah, Live at Leeds is definitely one of my favourites. I think I just prefer live albums. Personally, I think The Who always sounded way too tame on their studio albums. That's one of the reasons I don't listen to them as often as I should.

I think the answer as to why it is overrated is because modern day people watch CSI and hear it. They know nothing about the awesome band that created it but love the show, thus loving the song. :thumb:

Leper 01-16-2006 11:50 PM

I would also HIGHLY recommend The Who By Numbers. I think it's an incredibly underrated album.

Seafroggys 01-17-2006 12:02 AM

I like Who Are You

its drumming is definitally supurb if you compare it with the rest of the album

jpj 01-17-2006 11:10 AM

The Allman Brothers Instant Live from when I saw them just came in the mail :D I'm pumped!

Dragon_Prince 01-17-2006 11:17 AM

I'd recommend, Who's Next. Baba O' Riley, Geting In Tune and Won't Get fooled Again are superb. After that get the tommy/quadrophenia dvd ;) or get that first ;) 3dvd's is a good start hea ;)

you should maybe upload it please?! i love the instant lives.

Maybe, we'll see.

Brewer14 01-17-2006 11:43 AM

Thanks for all the Who suggestions, next time I go out I'll try to pick up one of the CDs (probably Live at Leeds since I've always heard they're better live)

You're gonna upload The Family That Plays Together, right?

jpj 01-17-2006 01:44 PM

Ok, I'm (attempting to) upload the Instant Live and a couple other things. I got the first disc uploaded, but the others are taking forever.

Lunch 01-17-2006 01:54 PM
You're gonna upload The Family That Plays Together, right?
I've sent that out at least two different times, I thought.

Why should anyone trying to get into the Who immediately get material from when they didn't have Keith Moon? I think the T and Q DVD is good but it definitely isn't the same as their prime material. Any first DVD recommendation for the Who has to be the Kids Are Alright.

Excellent choice, though you can't go wrong with Who's Next. If you like either of those, then definitly look into Quadriphinia.
