ROFL I saw the "Black Metal X-Mas" Revolver today and read a bit of the interview.

Shagrath and Nergal seemed very into themselves but I really like Dani's personality.

I can't believe none of them mentioned Wolves In The Throne Room or Rotting Christ when asked if they thought black metal was dying out, and oh yeah, LOL @ Shagrath saying that Darkthrone is still serious.

BTW does anyone like Trollech?
No. @ Trollech.

It's not like WITTR or RC are the saviors of today's black metal scene though.

Valhall 12-21-2007 11:03 PM

They help keep it alive in the eyes of mainstream magazines and reviewers though, thus attracting new fans to the genre. At least, that's how I see them helping.

publicastration 12-21-2007 11:07 PM

But they're among the best of modern black metal, so they deserve to be mentioned.

rattlehead42147 12-21-2007 11:12 PM

very true.
@Valhall

I don't know about them being "the best" though. I don't really like either of them that much. Then again I don't know any bands that are still going that are better than them sadly. Darkthrone probably.

AA-12 12-21-2007 11:57 PM

Uh, WITTR and RC are far from "the best" or even important to the scene. They're just two bands that get worshipped by people not very into black metal.

It's not like Shagrath and Nergal have room to speak though anyway.

Niflheim II 12-22-2007 12:19 AM

**** off WITTRH and all ****** stuffs

Silenius 12-22-2007 12:25 AM

Yeah WITTR are crappy.

Rundgang is a good song, but it is definitely not a song I can just sit down and listen to at any time, being as it is a very repetitive and droning in nature. Still, once you get into the atmosphere it's a great song.

I said among the best not THE best.

Valhall 12-22-2007 02:40 PM

Mappy, stfu. Those lyrics are far better than 90% of metalcore lyrics.

i am the robots 12-22-2007 03:02 PM

okay cool they're still incredibly gay lyrics

Niflheim II 12-22-2007 03:04 PM

hahahah at those CoF lyrics, all I could handle was a couple verses of that faggotry then it became way too much.

NemesisDivina 12-22-2007 03:09 PM

sorry luc, lyrics are lame.

EDIT: in other news, black metal is boring me at the moment. i've mostly been sticking with stuff that i know is good.

new morbid ceremony song is good.

Why is there Cradle of **** talk in this thread anyway?

Bought I Shalt Become - Wanderings today.

It's good.

Angmar 12-22-2007 11:58 PM

I remember liking that album, I have not listened in ages though, but I remember loving the song "A Once Great Man".

Ive had numerous opportunities to get Wanderings, don't know what's keeping me.

Silenius 12-23-2007 12:22 AM

"A Once Great Man" is indeed an awesome song. The Burzum and Judas Iscariot covers (that I'm hearing for the first time) are good too.

Apocalypticon 12-23-2007 12:42 AM

The Burzum cover was quite good IMO

Yeah, that's definitely one of the few good USBM bands out there. Great stuff.

Silenius 12-24-2007 01:51 AM

Yeah, maybe it has something to do with coming around before the USBM scene established itself and all the bad California bands came to be.

Angmar 12-24-2007 01:57 AM

Yeah that makes sense, I look forward to his new release. I know there are some demos he has released as well, I wonder how those are...

Anton you should get AIM!

Where did you live in Germany?

RouteOne 12-24-2007 09:18 AM

Even though they are probably one of the most widely known BM groups, I just discovered Gorgoroth and I'm like what I'm hearing.
