I've been listening to Iron Maiden since I got up at 9:00am today, till right now,
I'm listening to Invaders

Firecracker 01-22-2005 04:35 PM

Invaders is such a great song.
But 'Prisoner' oh so much better. :)

supreme maidenite 01-22-2005 04:42 PM

ive been listening to 7th son and live at donnigton 92 - i think its fantastic especially afraid to shoot strangers

IAJP 01-22-2005 05:02 PM
Invaders is such a great song.

My three favourite songs off that album:
#1:Hallowed Be Thy Name
#2:The Prisoner
#3:Invaders
It's an amazing album, allthough I prefer their debut

ForiegnPenguin 01-22-2005 05:04 PM

I've always had a thing for Children of the ****ed.

AB/CD 01-22-2005 05:07 PM

i think gangland is the best song off that album

ForiegnPenguin 01-22-2005 05:11 PM

Its a descent song but most people will say it is the worst or second worst to we-all-know-what.

IAJP 01-22-2005 05:11 PM

To be honest,
I can't really say what I like most.
But obviously Run To The Hills would be up there no doubt.

AB/CD 01-22-2005 05:41 PM

ill tell u hwat i hate polls asking the best maiden song is or any band for that matter. they r all pointless cos its all based on opinion same with best of the beast and edward the great that was prob based on record sales or votes by fans or something they shoulda just put steve an all in a room and said pick your fave songs or something then it owulda been more interesting than having the same songs on 2 best ofs

thelittledrummerboy 01-23-2005 01:04 AM
Yay! What do you guys think of Live at Donnington 92?
Theres bout 3 good songs on it. It starts off with a bang with "Be quick or be Dead" but the guitar playing just seems a wee bit sloppy and theres just not the same atmosphere a others such as Rio but don't get me started on that again.

shadow_stalker 01-23-2005 06:42 AM

does anyone have the re-released version of number of the beast? also if you have is there anything different?

i have the vynal but havnt listen to it

sorry for bringing up an oldish topic

scream_for_me_brazil 01-23-2005 06:44 AM

I hate this, I can only get on here once a week, and then I'm miles behind on the topics :-(

I didn't know they had re-released Number Of The Beast? When did they do it?

shadow_stalker 01-23-2005 06:57 AM

couple of weeks ago i think

FlamaSam 01-23-2005 06:59 AM
Another conversion

Has anyone heard the BLAZE (The band) version of SOTC? It's pretty good, I like it. It's got a different feel to it, not as dark; more Guitar soloey
YES! My fav song, was it I who sent that to you?
the solos in the end are :amaze:
the harmonies sound so much better on that version!

Stevie 01-23-2005 07:06 AM

Sotc?

IAJP 01-23-2005 07:10 AM

I've only heard C.O.B cover a Maiden song, I didn't like it, personally.

scream_for_me_brazil 01-23-2005 07:26 AM

How good is Powerslave? I aint got it and it seems like a lot of people like it

IAJP 01-23-2005 07:34 AM

I like it more than NOTB,
It has Two Minutes To Midnight, Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner and Aces High, reason enough to get it.
But, if you go on www.ironmaiden.com you can download a minute snippet of every Maiden track.
It's an amazing album alright :)

shadow_stalker 01-23-2005 07:36 AM
How good is Powerslave? I aint got it and it seems like a lot of people like it
its pretty good, not really their best but still worth getting :thumb:

scream_for_me_brazil 01-23-2005 07:38 AM

Hmmm ok I'm gonna have to get it.

IAJP 01-23-2005 07:42 AM

Yeah,
download those three tracks (Two Minutes To Midnight, Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner and Aces High) they're deffinitley highlights :thumb: :)

Stevie 01-23-2005 07:42 AM

* Rime!

IAJP 01-23-2005 07:45 AM
* Rime!
:(
Sorry man,

ForiegnPenguin 01-23-2005 08:24 AM

Don't forget the title track.

IAJP 01-23-2005 08:29 AM

Yeah I suppose that is pretty good in it's own right.
But it just doesn't stand up to those three.
I got my Powerslave from music zone for £6.99, but in H.M.V (right next to it) it was £16.99.
Surely one of the worst marketing blunders ever?

Arucard 01-23-2005 09:00 AM

Lol. HMV has loads of great cds, ie. Symphony X : The Oddesy, but they are 17 quid or somt.

shadow_stalker 01-23-2005 09:11 AM
Lol. HMV has loads of great cds, ie. Symphony X : The Oddesy, but they are 17 quid or somt.
music zone has maiden, sabbath, ozzy and metallica cds for about £5

but they dont have as big range as hmv :upset:

EDIT: sorry didnt read previous post

FlamaSam 01-23-2005 09:51 AM

insiders knowledge :P
i used to work in HMV (up till last month) and they did have some maiden CD's for £5.99 and others for near £18, the reason...there's no good one, but they have 4 sales in a year each, and sometimes they don't sell so you'll see the same CD for 3 different prices all next to eachother...though i bought all mine from the sales using my discount, spent £20 on 5 CD's! (No Prayer, Fear, 7th Son, DoD and Somewhere in Time!)
:D

oh and SOTC is SIGN OF THE CROSS!

IAJP 01-23-2005 10:33 AM

Woah, really?
That's hillarious!

ashman 01-23-2005 11:55 AM
YES! My fav song, was it I who sent that to you?

Yeah you sent it to me, but I got the 'As live as it gets' Album on tuesday...

So...who would win in a fight?? Blaze, Paul or Bruce (No fencing swords allowed :thumb: )

IAJP 01-23-2005 11:58 AM

Paul,
he was a punk, punks=agressiveness

rik 01-23-2005 11:59 AM

Hmmm, I would say Blaze.

IAJP 01-23-2005 12:02 PM

God,
I love "Running Free" so much..

ashman 01-23-2005 12:16 PM
God,

It is a good song, but it branded Maiden as 'long haired punks', which isn't good :upset:

Wolferinn 01-23-2005 12:29 PM

Can anyone tell me what's so good about "Iron Maiden"? Ive heard 3 good songs with them.

ForiegnPenguin 01-23-2005 12:46 PM

What songs?

Buy Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Piece of Mind, Somwhere in Time, Self-title, or Killers and you will find out.

MAthiAS 01-23-2005 12:48 PM
Can anyone tell me what's so good about "Iron Maiden"? Ive heard 3 good songs with them.
Best basslines, well, ever. Killer guitar melodies. A vocalist with incredible range and talent. And... a drummer that fits the music. Go listen to The Trooper and you'll hear basically all these elements.

GurS 01-23-2005 12:57 PM
yes...

who knows.. they might even check in at the Rainbow and play there... ;)
it's been closed for years now :(

another slice of metal history gone.

madien played at the pub near my school in the 70's, but that's closed down now too :upset:

GurS 01-23-2005 01:01 PM

Oh, and Powerslave (song) > 2 minutes

oliv_da_skinmasher 01-23-2005 01:57 PM
