Rectory is awesome. I've heard the songs are incredibly long (like half-hour length if I remember correctly) on the new album, which really puts me off.

the2stranger 08-04-2007 09:50 AM

Yeah, the immense song lengths also put me off, A CD with one or two long songs is ok, but not a doubleCD jst filed with them.

damn, the song in the rectory has the most amazing lead/solo work.

sieg heil Doomsword
sieg heil Reverend Bizarre

DOOM

ALL OVER THE WORLD

ETERNAL WILL BE OUR MISSION

Shattered_Future 08-04-2007 11:23 AM

I don't like the new one. It's way too long and the songs are extremely boring. There's not enough riffs throughout them.

In The Rectory is absolutely fantastic, on the other hand.

TojesDolan 08-04-2007 11:37 AM

Yeah, In The Rectory keeps it interesting all the time.

RetiredAt21 08-04-2007 04:28 PM

Donkelheet, anyone?

**** yes.

Yeah, Rectory is way better than the new one.

bassaholica2004 08-05-2007 02:59 AM

So Witchfinder General is really bluesy? Sounds like my kinda stuff...

I'm trying to get into Reverend Bizarre, but I haven't made it past the first song yet. :( So far nothing really grabs me; the riffs aren't very heavy or entertaining. I'll keep trying though, because as I understand it if you don't like this band you aren't part of the Doom club or something. :p

If you're talking about the Cathedral EP/song, then yeah, and it's real good stuff. There's some jazzy **** in there too.

Anyone into Ahab?

Bartender 08-05-2007 05:16 AM

I think they mean the Death Penalty band.

it's not that you like cathedral (although I personally find them tedious and yawn-inducing)

but you didn't know the band Witchfinder General, kind of considered a classic band amongst metal circles.

lolol

Shred Danson 08-05-2007 08:58 AM
classic band amongst metal circles.
Obviously NOT if I confused their name with a Cathedral CD of the same name :upset:

jrowa001 08-05-2007 09:04 AM

the only doom ive been listening to lately is Evoken's Antithesis of Light, long *** album but its excellent. i love the atmosphere on that album

RetiredAt21 08-05-2007 10:03 AM

Donkelheet rules.

Nostalgia 08-05-2007 10:12 AM
So Witchfinder General is really bluesy? Sounds like my kinda stuff...
Yeah. I have their first demo, and riff-wise and drum-wise it sounds a lot like Sabbath. Normally I wouldn't be that into it, but the vocals really make it for me.

Shred Danson 08-05-2007 10:59 AM

I'm curious to hear Witchfinder General now that I've made a total jackass out of myself yet again

Well now that I feel like a complete toolbag for thinking we were discussing CA****INGTHEDRAL, how about a recommendation? Because, you know, I trust your guys' tastes and all :p and because I suck :(

pate 08-05-2007 08:11 PM

Get Death Penalty.

Shred Danson 08-05-2007 08:33 PM

Yes, sir.

Rep to you.

publicastration 08-05-2007 09:56 PM

I finally got Pink by Boris. I now see why it's so popular.

bassaholica2004 08-06-2007 12:11 AM

I have the Cathedral album and I think its pretty good. I love groove, I can't help it.

I just noticed that the guitarist from Candlemass is left handed. :smoke: This band just keeps getting better and better...

pate 08-06-2007 12:29 AM

A left handed guitarist makes them a better band?

bassaholica2004 08-06-2007 01:34 AM
A left handed guitarist makes them a better band?
Lol if you're me it does.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-06-2007 01:43 AM

and me

left handers represent

TojesDolan 08-06-2007 02:07 AM

Represent indeed. Nonetheless I think left-handed people are creative naturally IDK.
