hope you're all good- I am- had a wicked week oh and James- hope you're here- I finally got me tickets for Mad Caddies :D |
hey dudes, and dudettes, and not quite sures
i managed to tab the intro to b&h, it shall be finsihed soon!!!!!! :) But on a bad note, i have to build a new pc for my mum before i go to uni :( so that'll take me forever oooh, and to answer your question long past Butler, the tapping in B&H is real easy, as long as you can tap, its just tapped root notes, and you only tap for about 4 bars anyway |
Ok cool, ive learnt some basics of tapping, and i just need a simple song to get me going that i actully like, i might make a tap intro for one of my songs, but itll be so simple and crap :(
|
ahah, you're in luck butler, i happen to have a tapping practice song i use
The songs not great, twinkle twinkle little star can never be cool, but its a good one for learning tapping i got time to kill so here it is: ( + = right hand tap - = left hand tap ......- - + + + + + + + - - - - - G:-1010-1717-1919-17-1515-1313-1212-10-: .....+ + - - + + - G:-1717-1515-1313-12-: X 2 First line again you dont have to use that tapping rhythm, but thats what works best for me, have fun |
Thanks, im so crap on bass ahh im upset :(, that tabs a little mess up, but i sorted it out, its not line proberly but never mind :thumb:
|
yeh i know, the formattings screwed up, it looks fine in the post thing, but when its actually on in th thread it screws up the spaces e.t.c
|
I've not seen too many songs use bass tapping, I think BandH is the first actually (this is where you destroy me by telling me it was guitar tapping)
|
a lot of soloists use tapping, plus some country and motown bassists, but no its not too common in mainstream rock, and underground rock aswell
|
^^i dont think many people in bands but soloist like wooten and stuff do.
yeh i know, the formattings screwed up, it looks fine in the post thing, but when its actually on in th thread it screws up the spaces e.t.c
Yea, i just sorted it out into word and saved it.# ANy more help, on anything on bass wouldnt go a pass, i know very little thoery :upset: |
err, what stuff dont you know?
|
Not much, i mainly wanna get scales nailed. I know were some of the notes are on the neck on 3 5 and 7.
|
right, E string notes fret 1 -5 are:
1=F 2= F# 3=G 4=G# 5=A (open string 3) |
Yep.......
Oh i figured out all the top string notes  :D *chuft* |
I know all the notes, wow, i learnt them quick thanks bob.
|
A string notes 1-5:
1=Ab 2=A 3=C 4=C# 5=d (open string 2) D string notes 1-5: 1=Eb 2=E 3=F 4=F# 5=G (open string 4) G string notes 1-5: 1=Ab 2=A 3=A# 4=B 5=C |
Ok maybe i didnt know them all, stupid Flats.
Wait a mo, G# and Ab are the same arnt they? |
lol yea, its a little tricky, there isnt a solid rule to remember em all, you'll just have to learn them all
|
Well if i keep it all # and dont say anythings flat thatll make it easier for me :Thumb: I should be able to work scales out myself now, if what i read was right, TTSTTTS, T being a full tone and S being a semi.
|
no...............scales are worked out by a specific pattern of steps, and all the notes are quarters
|
Oh, well thats what i read on coffees site :(
|
hmm, well thats the way i know it, a scale's named beucase of its root note (lowest note) and the pattern of steps, major or minor.
Im not saying coffee's wrong, coz he seriosuly knows his stuff, but its not the way i know it |
ok is the basic patern this.
G---------------------------- D---------------2--3--5------ A-------2--3--5-------------- E--3--5---------------------- or G---------------------------- D---------------2--4--5------ A-------2--3--5-------------- E--3--5---------------------- But in diff places of the fret board? One of them?? |
Thats pretty close to G major, G major is:
G:---------------0-0-----------------: D:---------0-2-4-----4-2-0----------: A:---0-2-3------------------3-2-0---: E:-3-------------------------------3-: |
Thats pretty close to G major, G major is:
G:---------------0-0-----------------: D:---------0-2-4-----4-2-0----------: A:---0-2-3------------------3-2-0---: E:-3-------------------------------3-:
Ok thanks, if you play 5 on E, its the exact same note s 0 on A so realy that could be. 5th note is always the same as the below it on open, also if you have 2 on A you can go up a string and play it as 7 (go up a string, add 5, go up 2 strings add 10, go up 3 and 15). Its what i do somtimes to save string changes. I dunno if you knew that or not. G:--------------------------------------: D:------------2-4-5-5-4-2--------------: A:---- 2-3-5----------------5-3-2------: E:-3-5-----------------------------5-3-: That looks simaler to warning by greenday too, kinda. |

Hmm intellectual bass discussion.
*goes and learns more thoery, it might prove handy when we start righting songs proberly* |
Bass talk gets confusing. :upset:
|
