Bruce sings in all of these except for Iron Maiden and Killers both of which contain some ULTRA classic heavy metal pieces.
Quoted for tr00fness. Killers can't be touched.

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 03:55 PM

I would get X-Factor.
It's not Bruce, but Blaze is actually more like Barlow's lower more baritone parts.

IheartSP 01-19-2006 03:55 PM

Bruce sings on everything except Iron Maiden, Killers, The X Factor, and Virtual XI. The two blaze albums I think had some okay music but the singing was just horrendus.

Yeah it is still considered heavy metal but when paul di'anno was with they it sounded A LITTLE more punkish. Still good though.

indeed.

To a beginner I would only recommend Iron Maiden's 80s albums.

They didn't have any amazing releases in the 90's but both 2000+ albums are top notch.

I agree brave new world is awesome. The Wicker Man is incredible.

Stoic 01-19-2006 04:01 PM

80s>00s>90s I agree on that ;)

Cause the 80s albums of iron maiden are the heart of all the record they have put out.

That's the second time your opinion has sucked in here in 24 hours.

I'm saying this because their 80s releases are supposed to be their best and as a beginner I prefer to start from the so called classic album(s) and gradually move onto the more obscure material of a band. Ollie may like this album but it's considered Iron Maiden's worst by many.

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:08 PM

If you go to the Maiden thread, you will find noone who doesn't love Blaze.

It's only idiots and the music press (one and the same) who give the impression that XF was a bad album.

True no one in that thread hates blaze, and actually i would actually say that i like x factor better than no prayer for the dying.

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:12 PM

It's better than most of the 80's stuff, and I would really reccommend Stormrider gets it if he loves Iced Earth, It's a very dark and introspective album, like alot of IE stuff.

I think it was all a reaction against maiden's golden line up split.

Anyways, it's up to him to choose. Some song samples would help :)

oh and Ollie tell me that XF is NOT your favourite maiden please...

Can you just name a few songs ?

My dad doesnt want me to accept any stuff from here :shrugs: Its his computer though...

 no problem. I've never been an Iron Maiden fanboy anyway :p

Lord Abortion 01-19-2006 04:16 PM

I would give him some, but I'm on Dialup here...

The lineup split was a good thing.
Bruce was sick of it, the mediocre nature of No Prayer and Fear of the dark prove this, they are easily Maiden's worst efforts.
Blaze in the band gave them a kick up the arse, and they realised that it was all very well writing about fantasy, but Steve felt "By the age of thirty, there was just other stuff to write about, in life."

IheartSP 01-19-2006 04:20 PM

Sorry Lord Abortion, I'm really only judging off hearing the few songs I've heard. The only one I actually have is Sign of the Cross and I think Bruce's version on Rock In Rio totally owns Blaze, that's all I have at my disposal to judge on. Is his other stuff better? His voice seemed week and lacked the vibrato Bruce has to really make it sound good.

And I take offense when you said "your opinion sucked" cause that's an opinion itself, and just becuase you don't agree doesn't mean it sucks.

Good Iron Maiden songs to start with:

Off of Number Of The Beast:
Children Of The Damned
Number Of The Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name

Off Of Piece Of Mind:
The Trooper
Flight Of Icarus

Off Of Powerslave:
2 Minutes To Midnight
Aces High
Rime Of The Ancient Mariner

Off of Somewhere In Time:
Wasted Years
Stranger in A Strange Land

Off of Seventh Son of A Seventh Son:
Can I Play With Madness
The Evil That Men Do
The Clairvoyant

Off Of Fear Of The Dark:
Fear Of The Dark (The Rock In Rio Version Is better than the studio)

Brave New World:
Brave New World
The Wicker Man

and if you do decide to get into earlier maiden

Off of Iron Maiden:
Phantom Of The Opera
Running Free
Prowler

Killers:
Wrathchild
Murders In The Rue Morgue

Youll have to ask lord abortion about good songs off x-factor and those albums but theres a good list

Sorry for the double post but i definitely agree that no prayer is the worst iron maiden album.

Thanks Podbassit.

It's been ages since I last listened to Iron Maiden but it seems that these songs will haunt me forever (the first two are with DiAnno but you MUST listen to them):

Phantom Of The Opera
Killers
The Number of the Beast
Aces High
The Clairvoyant
Only The Good Die Young
Thanks Podbassit.
Why are we talking about Iron Maiden for 2 pages in the Power Metal thread? :p

podbassist 01-19-2006 04:34 PM
Why are we talking about Iron Maiden for 2 pages in the Power Metal thread? :p
Because they are power metal, but yeah we'll save anything else for the Iron MAiden thread
Why are we talking about Iron Maiden for 2 pages in the Power Metal thread? :p
Sorry to beat a dead horse but they are about as Power Metal as Iced Earth is IMO. Either way they were a huge influence and everyone is too lazy to go talk about this in the Iron Maiden thread :p

Stoic 01-19-2006 04:34 PM

nice, now I want to listen to Iron Maiden but I've traded all my albums for obscure underground metal albums

At least I've kept 7th Son of a 7th Son <3 :D

That's my favorite one, The Evil That Men Do just gets me so pumped, same with the title track.
