Ohhhh..There we go, I knew something must have been in place to stop it. I just couldn't picture them totally 100% legalizing it.

This CD is of a band from Nottingham or somewhere, whose drummer I met a while ago. I always enjoy recordings made by completely unknown and non-mainstream-sounding bands.

Sort of. The law that passed allowed posession of up to one ounce of weed in Denver.

Relative to normal amounts of pot, how much is an ounce?

One joint, two joints? What?

An ounce is a crapload for one person. I normally buy eigths and you can get a good 10 or so J's out of that, at a guess.

So an ounce is about 80 joints' worth, under that reckoning.

About a month's supply for an average once a day user I believe.

BridgeToSolace 11-04-2005 08:36 PM
About a month's supply for an average once a day user I believe.
So it's basically been legal in the entire state of colorado anyway?

If you can have 99% of an ounce (if that much really is about a month's supply) without breaking any laws, then really, what's the point of pushing for more?

Permanent Solution 11-04-2005 08:39 PM

There is none, the point is to make it legal for users, but illegal for dealers. The government would benefit greatly by legalizing it and taxing it to make money on the deal.

cobert 11-04-2005 08:39 PM

Ack, im sick of my band. Everything i write, the guitarist turns down, and returns by writing some atreyu crap. I cant stand it anymore that im limited to writing the next taking back sunday song. I like taking back sunday and all....but it just gets old writing the same type of music. So i started a side poroject with 2 percussionists and me on bass and vocals. Its pretty cool. But now this asshole offends me yet again by saying "everything you play sounds choppy and shi'tty, i should be the bassist". I dont think he realizes that 1.) we made this project to get away from him and 2). it sounds choppy because i have to play hard to get over the guitar like he wants me to, but he's too self centered and insists on turning his amps up.

I would love to do something really crazy, like say, 'progressive rap'. When was the last time you heard a rap song in 5/8 time? What? Never? I know.

/end weekly rant about my guitarist

Its just one of those days right now where i serioulsy hate everything.

billiejoe84 11-04-2005 08:39 PM

I once got through an ounce in about 2 weeks, although my birthday did fall on one of those days and we smoked loads that night. That was in my dreadful stoner phase as well.

I have met guys who can cane an ounce in a week. That's hardcore.

Seriously, your guitarist sounds like an a-hole. Can't you do anything to get away from musical involvement with him?

I seem to have lucked out with my current band - everyone gets on great and we all seem to have the same musical goals.

Argh, I hate my drummer. He's horrible. He's been playing longer than I have (circa two or three years) and he can't even make up a drum beat. I don't think he realizes he has a crash cymbol, and for the life of him he can't remember the structure of a song that WE WROTE and have practiced for a month.

So the rest of us in the band had an acoustic practice at my bassists house. It was awesome, and we have three new songs in the works. And then we played Halo 2 on Xboxlive for a few hours. So much fun.

'Twas a good day. Plus, a 93 average in world history this term :D

That side project i was talking about...yep. Its everyone in the band besides him + some new guy. Were trying to change our sound every song, so one song will be long, melodic, without vocals, while another will be short asnd spastic with screaming. Im still loving the prog-hip-hop thing, too, but that would require a clever lyricist, which there is a lack of around here.

I better just go and watch TV or something, i might get pissed and break something around me if i mess something up.

Oh man, I love our drummer, he's the most gifted in the band by far. He probably has more talent than the rest of the band combined. And he can make some sick drum beats. :p

cobert 11-04-2005 08:52 PM

Speaking of talent, everyone in my main band is fairly talented, so none of us really want to break the band up since nobody else in our school and nearby has the potential to make good music, so we cant replace anyone if they leave.

Recordings?

Same here though... In my band it's like:

Drummer: Grade 8, and has played at the Royal Albert Hall in London
Trombone: Grade 8, and can make up horn lines off the top of his head
Sax: Also grade 8
Guitar: Me, self-taught for 3 years
Bass: Has no apparent musical talent at all ;)

Actually, that's unfair, he can play basslines that I write if I show him them :p

You may guess we play ska-punk

Guitarists are dime a dozen, if you have a good drummer and bassist you're set.

Yup, sounds like a bassist.

(My bassist is really theory-oriented, though. We just tell him what chords we play and he just walks all over everything)

Depends on where you live. Around here, the only other guitarists that I know either suck, are good but have little creativity, or aren't into to any modern style of music.

It can be frustrating.

All the drummers are either potheads, dicks, they suck (my drummer), or are members of my band...not playing drums. (My bassist and guitarist are both pretty good drummers :p)

There are literaly maybe 5 bassits in my school.
