Hello everybody! (Hi, Dr. Nick!) I'm writing this post from my bed, where I am currently hoked up to a circulating ice-water pack, basically an IV of numbing medicine running directly into a catheter in my back, and a muscle stimulator (if you've seen Jacka$$ The Movie, you'll know what I mean :naughty: ) I've also got a huge full-length brace on my leg that won't let me bend it. It sucks in some ways (like taking 10 minutes to crutch/hobble to the bathroom just to take a 20-30 second long piss and not being able to go to the concert I wanted to go to today) but it's okay in other ways (getting waited on, spending all day sleeping/watching TV/listening to music/reading mindless CR posts :p ) I haven't even seen my knee yet, t's covered with so much crap. It's funny, basically I went into the pre-op room, put on my hospitalgarments, and laid on the bed. Some random people came and talked to me, and then the anesthesiologist came in and told me he was pumping anesthetic stuff into my IV. He asked me to "tell him when I felt it working". I asked him how I would know, and he said "If you've ever snuck a little bit of whiskey at a party or something, it feels like that". The next thing I remember was waking up in an different pre-op room, and that the pulse-monitor had been moved from my right hand to my left. I told the guy standing in there that, and he was surprised I was so alert after just waking up. I spent the night in the hospital, then came home yesterday. I kept asking my mom to get me my laptop, but my stepdad had accidentally brought it home from the hospital with him. I thoguht it would be cool to write a post from the hospital :p
Also, another belated piece of advice to BigTrav (I think he's the one getting knee surgery): Crutches are a chick magnet.
I know, I had crutches when I first tore my ACL for a little while :D 1,670 |
Does anyone on here not have the last waltz?
I dont :( |
Well, glad to see that the surgery went well
I know, I had crutches when I first tore my ACL for a little while
And what was the response? It was good, right? |
And what was the response? It was good, right?
More sympathetic than anything. Most of the girls in my class are complete biotches though, but a few were cool and helped me out and stuff :) |
Okay, I just wanted to see if people had it because I was considering sending it but wasn't sure if people had it or not. If It'll actually load onto my computer I'll send it.

Oh man your school must really suck. When I had crutches (for knee surgery I, knee surgery II, and for a broken ankle, yeah I had a lot of experiences in the hospital :() girls would not leave me alone. I know I probably sounded like an ass but I wasn't trying to brag...I was (and still am) amazed at what crutches/a cast can do to a woman. NP: Herbie Hancock - Three Bags Full |
Maybe if I used a wheelchair...that's sure to get the "Awwww!" response from girls
np: The Wanton Song - Led Zeppelin I can't get over the fact that the riff on this song sounds exactly like the thing on Family Guy when Peter is Death on the plane and the Girl Scouts are singing "We like being alive, we lik being alive, we like being oh we like being oh we like being alive." |
Does anybody have the 4 disc Woodstock box set? anybody want it? im uploading it to my CP for my ipod and if i get bored tonight im going to upload for whoever wants it here
I actually don't like D&TD drumming very much...

I think I would hunt down and kill anyone who didn't.
I was in A & B sound last weekend with some friends and I saw The Last Waltz. I almost bought it, but they show it on the Aboriginal network here in Canada so often, what with Robbie Robertson being half-native and all. Robbie Robertson is a cool guy. I have a solo tape of his, I should give it a listen sometime. np: Faith No More - Epic |
eww. i like faith no more but i hate that song.
isnt most of the band canadian? like except for one member? levon helm? |
isnt most of The Band canadian? like except for one member? levon helm?
That is correct, sir. |
Their the most American-sounding band ever that's mostly foreign.
|
Even though they are technically, Canadians should not be considered foreign. They're just like Americans, except they're worthless and weak.
|
eww. i like faith no more but i hate that song.

i just don't like a lot of patton's rap/rock stuff. like that. give me jizzlobber or midlife crisis anyday. or easy for that matter. i DO like faith no more though.

Neil Young for sure here. His most recent album is the most patriotic thing I've ever heard coming from a Canadian person. I think I actually forgot he was Canadian while listening to that. |

Prairie Wind? |
The Band to me are like quintessential country-blues-rock (or whatever genre you want to call them). They just sound so "American".
|
I call them roots rock since they incorporate county, folk, blues, and early rock elements.
I call them roots rock since they incorporate county, folk, blues, and early rock elements.
I just call them folk rock. |
Well, duh. :p
Is that a duh you want it? or a duh you have it? |
Um....anyone like Cheap Trick?
|
Um....anyone like Cheap Trick?
"I waaaaaaant yooooooouuuuuu to waaaaaaaaaaant meee!" Nah, not really. |
i wouldn't mind the woodstock thing.
i like surrender by cheap trick. and only live. but its not a bad song. |
I call them roots rock since they incorporate county, folk, blues, and early rock elements.
Definitely roots rock...roots is a funny looking and sounding word when you think about it. Personally, I think they sound very Canadian. There isn't much of a big different between Canadian and American bands though...mainly because most Canadian's end up having to go to the States to continue with their music career. Like Neil Young, he lived in California for a very long time...I'm pretty sure, I dunno. |
I like roots rock as a description for them. But seriously, when I think of traditional American music, I think of The Band. Robbie Robertson really wrote songs that celebrated the roots of America, like The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down or Acadian Driftwood. I can't think of any patriotic Robertson lyrics, but the whole mood of the Band's music seems to be celebrating American roots. Probably because they mix so many different types of music. It's just music that the average kind of guy can relate to easily.
I'd love the Woodstock box set. I hate Cheap Trick. I've never heard any Faith No More. I do like Patton's work with Mr. Bungle though, but all I have is California. I'm finishing up a review for Brainwashed. Everyone better comment on it because it's an awesome cd. Edit- Everyone check out this thread- http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=434008 Man metal has a lot of classifications. I enjoyed learning the difference between death and black metal. |
I like ZZ Top. I have a greatest hits. Best driving music ever. I actually don't remember the last time I listened to them anywhere except in the car.
Livewired, did you get Gilmour tickets? I didn't, they sold out in 1 hour:angry: I don't have The Last Waltz. Sorry. /dies
I know how you feel, do you know the name of that online scalper site? |
theres an online scalper site?
|
Um....anyone like Cheap Trick?
Yeah, they're not bad.
|
I know how you feel, do you know the name of that online scalper site?
Yeah, I assume you're talking about http://www.stubhub.com, right? I checked but tickets there are like $150 at the cheapest, which I'm not willing to pay for Gilmour. If it was Pink Floyd... but not for just Gilmour. I wonder if Livewired got tickets. Did you try for tickets? Everyone go read my review of Brainwashed- http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?p=5097 Such an awesome album. |
Prairie Wind?
Yeah. The lyrics are patriotic. |
Give Me The Woodstock Box Thing Or Some Of It
Not Jimi Though PLEASE |
Man metal has a lot of classifications. I enjoyed learning the difference between death and black metal.
Rock has its fair share as well. Metalheads sometimes seem to be overly picky about their genres. I don't know how many times I've read through pointless bickering about whether Lamb of God was metalcore, thrash, heavy metal, NWOAHM, yada yada yada... |
Give Me The Woodstock Box Thing Or Some Of It

About math rock, would be you put Behold...The Arctopus in the same category as Yes? I don't think so. |

most of the metalheads here idiots too. They will mindless argue a genre because they think a certain genre means those bands suck. |
