If I do an assignment, I do well on it.

It's a matter of just forcing myself to do the assignment. That's the hard part.

I managed to get through last year with a solid B or B+ in everything though without studying much more than maybe an hour the night before finals/midyears.

I don't put in the effort, but most assignments in uni are completion grade so that's ok.

Actually, that's why she was asking. My (middle) brother is apparently really depressed and beat the crap out of my little brother because he got really pissed and my mom wanted advice on dealing with his depression. Apparently my dad has a chemical imbalance so he and I probably do too (old news for me but meh) and so she figured I might have advice since I'm depressed too and such. I told her he's not 18 yet, so he can't refuse treatment like I can, so get him treated. I don't know if it was good advice or not :-\

So...why would forcing treatment on this boy be good for him?

I'd say just sit down with the boy, and tell him you love him. If he wants help, all he has to do is say the word, but you love him to much to force him into it.

If he beats is brother again, then smack him in the head.

Because as much as I don't want it I know it'd probably be better if I had some. Plus he'd be more suceptible to it than me. Different things work for different people, but this would work well for him I think.
