I prefer rawer production, it just doesn't sound right when BM is all slick and polished over.

worst thing is when a band (Mayhem, i'm looking at you) get a bit of financial backing, learn to record better then try and make a "return to roots" album that sounds intentionally ass

dimmu borgir sounded a hell of a lot better on Enthrone Darkness Triumphant vs. For All Tid and Stormblast

then again everything after EDT sucked

Varg went to this big chain electric market store we have here and asked for their worst and cheapest microphone, and used it for Uruk-Hai/Burzum.

Darkthrone spent a lot of time and money making Transylvanian Hunger sound as bad as humanly possible.
