Jev 10-16-2006 02:10 AM

Nevermind Lars caring about money, I just saw the video of them playing the other new song...
jeez, they've let themselves go.

x00046455 10-16-2006 04:57 AM

theres vidoes of them playing new material? are they on any sites other than the metallica vault?

Chu 10-16-2006 05:00 AM

The 'Other' New Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ5bh4FkAxc

Dunno where the other one is, but I'm sure if you checked YouTube it would be there :thumb:

Eliminator 10-16-2006 05:11 AM

It's okay.

A lot better than the stuff on St. Anger

The_Riddler 10-16-2006 05:12 AM

I am trying not to hate Metallica, I used to love their music and love watching anything that had them in it.

After getting into music so heavily and years after my Metallica are gods moments, they are so hard to even watch. I don't even know why I thought they were so cool. I am not even religious and I feel I should pray that their next album is good.

Hmm. I actually like it. The 'new song' wasn't much chop, but this one's a marked improvement for me.

I think it's more similar to Kill'em All than any others. Nice and thrashy. Did it remind anyone else of Phantom Lord? Might've just been me...

Jev 10-16-2006 05:45 AM

It reminded me more of Motorbreath.

Definitely something off of KEA.

Jim 10-16-2006 06:30 AM

The thrash is definitely there. A lot of oldskool punk influence as well.

eug008 10-16-2006 08:09 AM

I used to be a big Metallica fan about a year ago but now I hardly listen to them, MOST of their stuff just doesn't appeal to me anymore. Their new stuff is an improvement but still nothing special imo.

Yep, I think it's awesome, I love the raw thrash like kill 'em all :smash:

What? That wasn't bad at all. Apart from holding Rob up from going to the gym, he didn't cuss Rob or anything. What was so bad about it?

And that 'Other New Song' was fecking amazing!

Ignore any post by him, he trolls the Metallica thread.

timmySmi 10-17-2006 03:40 AM

Thats just the sort of stuff Jason was put through when he first came into Metallica.

I recently just purchased the box set Live & Binge Purge. Oh my god, its hard to believe they were actually that amazing live when you compare them to nowhere days. Whiplash from the San Diego concert, that raised the hairs on the back of my neck.

I believe that the Seattle 89 is an example of when they were in their prime. James voice had a great mixture of growl and melody, the guitar tones were amazing, the drums were really good, and everything was nice, tight and fast. So good.

MrSigma 10-17-2006 03:47 AM

i heard jason told them "why make a song with 10 riffs when you can make 10 songs"

is that true?

Jim 10-17-2006 03:54 AM

It would make sense. But then a song with ten riffs would be mighty fine

Bit repetitive though

MrSigma 10-17-2006 03:57 AM

their first 4 albums had some variation of riffs. like the black album (jasons second album with metallica) it was all repeditive. James: "I make 1 riff and that is the meat of the whole song" -from black album dvd
It would make sense. But then a song with ten riffs would be mighty fine

wouldnt it be the opposite of repetative, by having 10 riffs in one song?

Jev 10-17-2006 12:54 PM

I think thats the joke.

\m/Pete\m/ 10-17-2006 02:25 PM

thats the only way it seems like i can play guitar, many riffs. i always want to record with my friends ,but i cant just cant keep playing repetatively and my riffs are never the same.

is that considered a bad thing?

i know. that was really good, metallica at the top of their game.

Hate Crew Deathroll 10-17-2006 02:52 PM

I agree. That's my favourite live Metallica gig ever. BLACKENED!!!

No unless you mean you write a song and can't play it the same.

Britton 10-18-2006 10:31 PM
