Yeah there are many accoustic versions of songs that I like better than the originals.
Welcome to the forums. |
Heh, I'm seeing B.B. King in February. Can't wait, considering he's 80.
:) |
Hey, CR thread.
I like CR, its alright. I suppose. Plastic Ono Band is pretty sweet, Working Class Hero is key song. I love the version on Acoustic so much more emotional, in my opinion. Acoustic just plan rocks now that I think about it.
Welcome  Hopefully I can get a jam going today. 5 other people on my floor play guitar also, and at least one of them does the CR thang. |
How?
It was heart related. I don't know the specifics, but my mom told me they think his aorta burst. |
Sometimes I seriously wished I was going to Rocky Mount Senior High instead of Rocky Mount Academy, I seriously don't want to be associated with most of these people most of the time. It should be that those with the most give the most, but in most cases it's the opposite, not to mention the fact that they are given the world on a silver platter and decide to waste their life away gorging on grain alcohol and skimping through college on Daddy's board position at respected school and simultaneously butting the nposition away from some poor guy who actually worked hard to get there, then becoming a burnout and wasting your trust fund on cocaine and fake friends, instead of even attempting to do something with your life.
Very sorry. I have a cousin like this, she makes me so mad, basically she does what she wants and doesn't care about the consequences. She has totaled mroe cars than I can count, and quite honestly one time we were eating dinner at an extremely nice steakhouse, and I said I almost felt like I was wasting money, and she said that Braswells (my mom's well-off family) love to waste money. Oh. my. God. Grrr, I can't seem to vent all this rage.
I hate to see people recieve stuff they didn't earn. You can always punch her in the face. :smash: |
I'm getting more and more into the end of Abbey Road. I love how the songs transition so abrubtly, but at the same time, the album retains it's flow and musical direction. For the most part, the songs are just the right length, I just wish Golden Slumbers was a little longer.
|
I have never been as obsessed with an album as I am with rubber soul right now. I've been listening to it about 4 times a day!
|
You an Amon Duul II fan?
Who? :) Anyone know the guy in my avatar, or the referance in my Usertitle?
I'm getting more and more into the end of Abbey Road. Pep's > Abbey Road, Although the last like 10 tracks on Abbey Road (Minus draggy McGee.) are all perfect. Er, this is Jacaranda. I needed a new alter ego. But gee, everyone is so friendly here. |
4 times? wow......
I have been listening to that Grateful Dead show form '68 alot lately. I love the quality of Grateful Dead bootlegs. Np-GD-Caution |
/vents about living in rich neighboorhoods
I know what you guys mean. :-/ /lives near Orange County. Edit:
Er, this is Jacaranda. I needed a new alter ego.
Are you staying on that permanently, or are you going to request a merge with Jacaranda, Jacaran, and this? |
but my mom told me they think his aorta burst.
That sounds painful  One of the old football coaches at my high school died because he got a massive stroke during a game, but that was about six or seven years before I got there.
Anyone know the guy in my avatar?
A blind violinist? |
Er, this is Jacaranda. I needed a new alter ego. But gee, everyone is so friendly here.
Is this your 3rd account? Rubber Soul is amazing; I went through a phase like that a couple weeks ago. I listened to Derek Trucks- Joyful Noise today. Pretty good stuff. |
Are you staying on that permanently, or are you going to request a merge with Jacaranda, Jacaran, and this?
Oh I'll just switch between names whenever I feel like it. I'm not into the merging thing.
A blind violinist?
Hotter! So I guess one of the guys remodling my bathroom went to the very first reunion tour of the Who and he said that they had two drummers. Any info on who or why there were two, Lunch (I just figured you might know!)? He's seen so many bands its crazy, first Lollapalooza, Grateful Dead he said like 200 times, and he also said the 1 in 3 rule for their concerts was somewhat true. No Stones though :upset:
Is this your 3rd account?
Ya, I've got Jacaran and then Jacaranda. I've been listening to The Queen is Dead 24/7, its such a perfect album but mostly because its a good pick me up album, my Grandma fell down just the other day and was there for like 12 hours... and she's in the hospital now, probably not going to make it. I hate when people you like die. |
It's John Cale.
/thread |
he also said the 1 in 3 rule for their concerts was somewhat true.
Can you elaborate on this rule? |
Who? :)
Phallus Dei is the name of an Amon Duul II album. Amon Duul II is a German krautrock band. |
It's John Cale.
/thread
Ding ding! Well I guess 1 in 3 Dead concerts are supposed to be magical or something along those lines while the other two would usually end up being mediocre at best. I guess its sorta like, anything can happen at any given night, they could be great one night then the next few concerts be totally off. But for me going to two bad concerts would be just fine for that one magical one. But hell I'd love to see an off night with Jerry any way.
Phallus Dei is the name of an Amon Duul II album. Gah MX is going really slow, hope its just not me? |
Psh, we all know he picked that name because it has "Phallus" in it :p
edit: Oh my god, I was right |
Gah MX is going really slow, hope its just not me?
That sucks about your grandma.. Hopefully she'll be alright. And yes, MX is really slow for me too.

I only have a few Vinyls I found at my friends house awhile back, he didn't want them so I took them, if I had a CD copy of it I'd gladly send out some of their albums along with the other German Psychedelic bands I found and thats the reason I don't like vinyls as much as CD's, can't get them on mp3 player or anything. Kraftwerks - Radio-Activity is quickly becoming one of my favorite albums. I have to get Autobahn soon. /holds back urge to point out Illmatics name and why he chose it. |
/me downloads the Genesis album
/finds out its corrupted somehow Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo |
PD: I like Abbey Road better. The fact that the so called greatest album ever has any weak tracks, much less two, three or even four is a huge let down.
|
Heh, someone today tried to sell me opium. Kind of random also. I don't know where he got it..
Anybody tried it? |
PD: I like Abbey Road better. The fact that the so called greatest album ever has any weak tracks, much less two, three or even four is a huge let down.
Ya, I suppose "Shake Your Hips" can get a little boring after awhile. :P What tracks off of Sgt. Pep's do you consider weak? I consider one at that to be weak, and even then its a decent track. I've never personally tried opium because I'm currently straight edge (!) but I remember a few times when hanging with some friends they've done it and seem to like it, they seem to get a good high off of it. I would imagine it would be expensive though. |

"Halftime" is only ok, but everything else on Illmatic is perfect (even "The Genesis") :p |

In the middle of winter in Iowa. |

I saw that album for like twelve bucks the other day and almost bought it. But I didn't really have money to spend at the moment. |
You just named 3 out of my top 5 favorite songs from Sgt. Peppers. Odd.
I'm not really as big a fan of the expirimental stuff on htis album. I'll give it another go though. Illmatic:  I had no idea what was going on with that post. |

So, yesterday night I found out that Thelonius Monk was from my city. As in, the crappy little less-than-50,000 pop. town, Rocky Mount, NC. I really need to hear some of his stuff, he's supposed to a be an absolute piano virtuoso. If anyone has any, 'twould be nice to YSI ;)

Nope. On the subject of opium: Opiates = bad Has anyone else noticed that since we decided to try to cut back on drug talk that the topic has actually come up more often? |

Has anyone else noticed that since we decided to try to cut back on drug talk that the topic has actually come up more often?
Can you imagine the type of responses we'd get if we changed the title to the **Official Drug Thread** |
Id prefer it as a classic rock thread
