For someone who loves talking about ice skating, I'd like to see you back up your claim. You have a stick and a puck, and you skate. It's harder than you think.
Hockey requires skill, the NHL does not. In the NHL, you don't need style, speed, agility, or panache. All you need to do is stick a big goalie in enormous pads, then put five skaters in front of the goal and mug anyone who comes through. |
For a newb you talk big.
I don't like the NHL because it requires no skill. End of story.
Patrick Roy? Ray Bourque? Peter Forsberg? Joe Sakic? All guys from my home team and some of the best athletes of all time. |
For a newb you talk big.

End of story.
i disagree. the skaters need skill. the goalies don't. the goalies have small restrictions for pads and it keeps the game so low scoring. there are some exceptionally great hockey players tho. and what exactly did you mean by "hockey takes skill but the NHL doesnt?" wouldn't that be the same as saying "football takes skill but the NFL doesnt?" |

He's not an Av before a Bruin, that's for sure. |

I don't even think the skaters need too much skill...how much skill is required to run a fucking trap? |

Hey guys.
|
Fierce NBA/NHL debate goin' on in here. I don't like the NHL because it is the most mind-numbingly boring sport on American TV.
(I do like Olympic hockey, though). |
Hey guys.
Ohh, ok. Yeah, my little cousin was telling me about that site. He said it was pretty cool. Some of those guys on that site are insane. Me and my buddies can do some crazy stunts, but nothing like backflips or anything..heh So, I guess we have all agreed that hackysack is the superior sport? |
Curling is the sport of kings.
I ask a question where I feel tricky here.
Are the players at fault? Partly. But don't forget that David Stern is one of the best commissioners in professional sports (Paul Taglibue being ranked up there as well). Gary Bettman is a conniving, cheap bastard who refuses to cooperate and give hockey players an opportunity. The man is has such tunnel vision, he refuses to compromise. The things that Stern has done this year, in terms of Ron Artest, the All-Star game, and so on is extremely commendable. Bettman has done nothing to show that he cares for the well-being of his league. The same can't be said about Stern. I'm sure you're aware that Bettman never attended an NHL game before becoming commish. That's a bit strange, don't you agree? |

(I do like Olympic hockey, though).
i'd hafta say baseball is the most boring on tv. and hockey is only boring on tv to anyone that can't follow it. and the strike thing is bothering me too. if your getting paid to do somthing for fun, have fun and get paid. they shouldn't complain, they're not in an office answering phones. and the "how hard it is to skate thing" it's the speed and the edges and stuff that's hard. skating in a circle isn't. how hard is it to run up and down a basketball court? |
