Black Rose Immortal is still my favorite, with Bleak, Godhead's Lament, April Ethereal and Harlequin Forest rounding out the top 5.

Stormrider 09-20-2005 06:57 PM
To Bid You Farewell was one of the first Opeth songs I ever heard, so I have a bit of a soft spot for it... I love that track :)
first Opeth song i heard was Master's Apprentice...never got tired of that song, i still listen to it frequently...but right now im pretty much stuck on The Twilight Is My Robe...i just love the constant switches from heavy distortion to acoustic/clean rythms...realy cool song

Fallen Zero 09-20-2005 07:09 PM
*finally listened to Blackwater Park yesterday*

Is it just me, or is Bleak one of the best songs ever made?
yessir. bleak is brilliantly composed.

epihasi 09-20-2005 08:20 PM

Anyone else absolutely love "The night and the silent Water"?
Nothing beats the harmonization in the verse.
Anyone else absolutely love "The night and the silent Water"?
Yes. Yes I do.

epihasi 09-20-2005 08:26 PM

I'm listening to it right now...It's incredible in every perspective.
Any fave song off Morningrise?

PUNT 09-20-2005 08:58 PM

Black Rose Immortal! off of Morning rise is amazing. very long song, but i can actually listen to the whole thing over and over. you dont get bored of it

Killtacular 09-20-2005 09:14 PM

To Bid You Farewell. Advent is great, too, as well as the famed Black Rose Immortal.

Shadows 09-20-2005 09:23 PM
Yes. Yes I do.
Liar!

Now go comment on my Aphex Twin review.

I agree man, that song is just too good. The acoustic melodies, the dual guitar rhythms, vocals, absolutely brilliant.

Between 10:00 and 14:00, BRI is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Special Brew 09-21-2005 01:07 PM

I could never decide an all-time favorite Opeth song. It changes regularly. Right now, I'd probably say 'White Cluster'.

vashts80 09-21-2005 02:06 PM

My all-time favorite song atm = The Drapery Falls. The solo at the end = spooge

the2stranger 09-21-2005 02:11 PM

my all time favorite: well I guess Black rose Immortal.
it just has everything Opet his about :p

Thor 09-21-2005 03:32 PM

Anyone goign to see Opeth soon? I'm probably going to catch them in NC.

soadrulez 09-21-2005 07:36 PM

Deth 09-21-2005 07:39 PM

November 11th, though none of my friends have bought tickets yet, the lazy bums.

Arrakakaka 09-21-2005 07:39 PM
yessir. bleak is brilliantly composed.
Steve Wilson sang some of his best singing of his career on that song.

Amen to that. I don't think it will be too bad, at least not in the area that the concerts will be held in.

You just described about every Opeth song there. I appreciate that song a bit but I don't think it was very well composed because it just sounds like alot of things strung together.

Deth 09-21-2005 07:41 PM
Steve Wilson sang some of his best singing of his career on that song.
And that's saying something.

i am the robots 09-21-2005 07:53 PM

Word, I like how when Mikael sings, Steven backs him, and then vice versa.

Deth 09-21-2005 07:55 PM

Does anyone know how often Opeth played Bleak? It seems like such a great live track, and the live version I have is amazing.

Darkness 09-21-2005 08:09 PM

Why would they waste time playing that live...?

JK :p I'd love to see that live, as long as the vocals were a bit tuned up..

Kage 09-21-2005 08:10 PM

The songs that I really hope they play when I see them are Reverie/HF and Deliverance.

I love to hear Harlequin Forest live, I'd also love To Bid You Farewell, Master's Apprentices, The Drapery Falls, and Serenity Painted Death.

Darkness 09-21-2005 08:25 PM
The songs that I really hope they play when I see them are Reverie/HF and Deliverance.
They normally open Deliverance.

Hells Bells 09-21-2005 10:02 PM

Good song to open with ;)

I heard that Demon of the Fall is usually an encore.

IvortheEngineDriver 09-21-2005 10:05 PM

I'm a ****in' slacker...I helped get this thread going like a year ago and now I haven't even bought the new album yet! God I suck!
Is it as good as what I'm hearin'? Can it reach the heights of Blackwater Park?

Det_Nosnip 09-21-2005 10:50 PM

That depends entirely on your taste in music, man. I think it's a great album, though. Where have you been, btw?

Pretty much. :p

Simon__Thats_All 09-22-2005 01:35 AM

I've been listening to Blackwater Park on my car trip home, I think I'm in love with The Drapery Falls. Another one of my soft-spot songs.

Deth 09-22-2005 06:13 AM

The Drapery Falls was my first favorite on the album, but it slowly made it's way down the list to the other songs on the album.

DuncMaster 09-22-2005 06:46 AM

My favourite song from Blackwater Park is Bleak.

Deth 09-22-2005 06:49 AM

Bleak and BWP are my favorites off the album.
