JausmetalJ 05-04-2006 06:42 AM

Aww... I can't keep up.

Riva 05-04-2006 06:11 PM

Oh yeah, Orestes, have you heard of Awesome DragonLord eXtreme? Brutal power metal.

I'd be suprised if you had because I just made up the name

Stormrider 05-04-2006 06:53 PM

I've heard of them actually. They're pretty cool.

Deth 05-04-2006 07:02 PM

I want to start a band named that now.

Shattered_Future 05-04-2006 07:04 PM

Awesome Dragonlord eXtreme, eh?

I actually downloaded a couple of Black Majesty tracks...they're pretty good. Signed to LMP Records, same as Dungeon, Rhapsody, whatnot...

Stormrider 05-04-2006 07:04 PM
I want to start a band named that now.
Thats why you fail.

Deth 05-04-2006 07:19 PM

Tell me you don't.

Stormrider 05-04-2006 07:20 PM

I don't...because uh...

uh

:(

Deth 05-04-2006 07:22 PM

I would love to start a full on power metal band. It seems like the most fun genre to play.

Shattered_Future 05-04-2006 07:58 PM

My "band" does almost power metal stuff...

Deth 05-04-2006 07:59 PM

I want a full on Rhapsody style band though.

Shattered_Future 05-04-2006 08:00 PM

Well, get a keyboardist and start working then. :thumb:

Or you could try an orchestra...which reminds me, I gotta get our orchestra over to my house someday.

The orchestra consists of 2 cellos, a bass clarinet, and possibly a violin.

Deth 05-04-2006 08:02 PM

That's a baby orchestra. I keep mine in the attic. I just throw up a dead dog every day or so to keep them quiet.

Stormrider 05-04-2006 08:05 PM

I'm tempted to say soemthing but I won't. :p

Speeking of orchestra's..it makes me think of the band thing at school. We're going to do this show and I'm the french horn.

Riva 05-04-2006 10:58 PM

I want to start a powermetal band, too, but I don't think I'd use Awesome DragonLord eXtreme, though.

Black Majesty are pretty cool, and Australian too! Let's hope that LMP release some awesome stuff again with the CDs.

I used to play alto and tenor saxophone in the stage band at school.

I tried baritone once, and I think it's on par with tubas in terms of breathing.

If you haven't tried keeping a sustained note on one before, try it. You get pretty giddy after a song or two.

ACircuitShock 05-04-2006 11:12 PM

I'm currently trying to start a folkish power metal band, not easy since i'm only 18 and no one where I live listens to power metal. I got a name thought of allready... Rapscallion. I'm technically allready in a power metal band with some friends, but that isn't going anywhere.

Slapping Penguin 05-05-2006 02:26 AM

Where you live?
Black Majesty are pretty cool, and Australian too! Let's hope that LMP release some awesome stuff again with the CDs.
I have heard their good.

Lord Abortion 05-05-2006 10:38 AM

Yeah, I'd like to be in a proper PM band.

Trev 05-05-2006 10:48 AM

I drum in a Symphonic Power Metal band, but to be honest it's about 60% folk metal, 40% power metal, I'd love to be in a Rhapsody sort of band.

shadow_stalker 05-05-2006 11:43 AM
Yeah, I'd like to be in a proper PM band.
I would love to be in a power metal band aswell, damn metallica fan boys

ACircuitShock 05-05-2006 01:07 PM
Where you live?
I live out in Washington in the U.S. Worst place to be a power metal kind of guy.

Stormrider 05-05-2006 01:14 PM
I would love to be in a power metal band aswell, damn metallica fan boys

Yeah, I'd like to be in a proper PM band.
What kind of band are you guys in at the moment ?

NP Thyrfing - Sweoland Conqueror

shadow_stalker 05-05-2006 02:26 PM
What kind of band are you guys in at the moment ?

NP Thyrfing - Sweoland Conqueror
just general metal, we play Maiden, iced earth, metallica...

*breaks down crying and has to wait a minute before he can start again*

starting to learn Cathedral and Black sabbath stuff (think i may have missed something but not sure)

if we could find a keys player we could easily swing towards power metal

Stormrider 05-05-2006 02:28 PM

Oh OK. I don't even have a proper band right now :p

NP Blind Guardian - I'm Alive

Steerpike 05-05-2006 03:49 PM

I'd love to put together a power metal band. But that's not really feasible right now. Maybe when I have more time in my life.

Shattered_Future 05-05-2006 05:38 PM

This weekend, maybe, I'll put the finishing touches on my power metal song. Which involves me recording a whole new guitar part.

Deth 05-05-2006 08:42 PM

I would even do a one man band if I could play guitar. I need to be able to gratuitiously sweep pick at insane speeds for a power metal band I want to be in.

Shattered_Future 05-05-2006 08:47 PM

Remember, it's not power metal if there's non 16th notes. :p

Deth 05-05-2006 08:55 PM

That's what I'm thinking. Of course I'll need a ballad, but I'll just throw a few chords together will some lyrics about dying in battle.

Shattered_Future 05-05-2006 08:57 PM

Absolutely. The more dragons and unicorns that are included, the better.

Actually, my power metal song has a more emotional than supercrazy solo, mostly because I can't go supercrazy. :upset:

Apocalyptic Raids 05-05-2006 08:58 PM

I would make a Speed Metal band instead

It would be total Agent Steel worship :D

Deth 05-05-2006 08:59 PM

I really love power metal for the fantasy cliches. They're so great.

Shattered_Future 05-05-2006 08:59 PM

They really are...

That may be why Rhapsody is so awesome.

Deth 05-05-2006 09:02 PM

The Magic of the Wizards Dream, Forest of Unicorns, Village of the Dwarves, Wisdom of the Kings, Steelgods of the Last Apocolypse.

That's damn fine cheese.

Stormrider 05-05-2006 09:09 PM

I only have/know 2 Rhapsody songs...they're pretty cool. I need an album from them eventually.

Power metal is my favorite genre.

Deth 05-05-2006 09:12 PM

I don't know how many times I've seen you say that now :p.

I really love power metal, but I find it's overpopulated with mediocre bands.

Shadows Within 05-05-2006 09:13 PM

like who

Stormrider 05-05-2006 09:14 PM

Say what ? How many Rhapsody songs I have or That PM is my favorite genre ?

I've only said PM is my favorite genre once :p And I don't know about the other one...

:p

EDIT: To Deth

Deth 05-05-2006 09:17 PM

Everytime Rhapsody is mentioned, which is a lot.

In regard to the mediocre bands, I may only like the exceptional ones. If I hear a band like Hammerfall or a Rhapsody ripoff, I can never enjoy it. Maybe I haven't explored the genre enough, but I would say about 50% of the power metal bands I have heard are mediocre or worse. The other half have some of the best music I've ever heard.

Stormrider 05-05-2006 09:19 PM

Yeah you're right...I must stop mentioning it as everyoen knows by now :p
