I got the Wall too. I want wish you were here. Good selection.

I might get a guitar today! :) MIGHT. the key word there.

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 01:31 PM

Nice. I still don't have the Wall on retail CD. I have two copies on vinyl though :D

lunch998 09-08-2004 01:32 PM

Soon I'm going to get Animals and probably Meddle, because I'm addicted to Pink Floyd now.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:33 PM

So, whos better at vocals, Roger Waters or David Gilmour?

I'd say Gilmour.

I just like his voice better than rogers...

But Rogers did write most of the wall so you have to give him credit for that.

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 01:36 PM

Roger is more of a storyteller. I love Gilmours voice as far as singing goes.

lunch998 09-08-2004 01:36 PM

Honestly I don't know which ones which so I couldnt tell you. I'm a Pink Floyd noob. :thumb:

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 01:37 PM
Soon I'm going to get Animals and probably Meddle, because I'm addicted to Pink Floyd now.
Both excellent albums. Meddle is actually probably my favorite Floyd. It's so chill (except for "one of these days"), and it has Echoes....

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:37 PM

Exactly what I thought. After all, the wall is just one big story.

I forgot about Barret. Grr...

I didn't really listen to Barrets stuff.. can anyone suggest anything?

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 01:37 PM
/feels stupid, but despite loving Pink Floyd, I still can't really tell who sings what...:upset:
Just listen to comfortably numb.

Verse = Roger Waters
Chorus = David Gilmour

You'll be able to hear the difference and contrast in one song...after that its easy. :)

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:38 PM

David Gilmour sings all of Dark Side of the Moon. The other voice is Roger Waters.

Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Curse you! Your way is easier!

But thats totally true.

"Ok, just a little pinprick
They'll be no more AAAAAAAAAAAH! - Waters
but you may feel a little sick"

"There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon" - Gilmour

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 01:41 PM

Barret era stuff is great, even better if stoned.

lunch998 09-08-2004 01:41 PM

My dad loves Piper at the Gates of Dawn, so listen to that for Barret.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:41 PM

I'm listening to the Wall right now.

God, this is one of my all time favorite ablums.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:43 PM

Is it anything like Gilmour? or more psychadelic?

lunch998 09-08-2004 01:44 PM

Psychadelic crazy stuff. Its great though.

lunch998 09-08-2004 01:45 PM

I'm listening to Wish You Were Here Right now. Have a Cigar>Other songs.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:46 PM

Alright, I'll have my mom check for it.

Its funny because if I tell my mom a CD will influence my guitar playing, she'll buy it for me.

hehehehe.

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 01:50 PM

Have a Cigar has a different vocalist. A non-floyd one.

lunch998 09-08-2004 01:51 PM

I love it though. I wish my mom would buy me CDs.

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 01:52 PM

Me too. I have to burn alot of CD's :(

¿ Zed Leppelin ? 09-08-2004 01:55 PM

Pink Floyd rocks!!! :smoke: :smoke: :smoke:

I love smokin some ganja and watching The Wall.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:56 PM

I really want to see the movie... is it at blockbuster?? I think this is genius. Its from The Trial.

The evidence before the court is
Incontraventable, there's no need for
The jury to retire
In all my years of judging
I have never heard before of
Someone more deserving
The Full Penalty of law
The way you made them suffer
Your exquisite wife and mother
Fills me with the urge to delecate
But my friend you have revealed you
Deepest fear
I sentence you to be exposed before
your peers
TEAR DOWN THE WALL!

That is a genius bit of songwriting there.

What an ablum..

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 01:58 PM

should i get
Wish You Were Here

or

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

¿ Zed Leppelin ? 09-08-2004 02:03 PM

Oh man you gotta see it, if your not a stoner you might not like it, cuz everyone i know who is not a stoner doesn't like it cuz they say it makes no sense, but even if it doesnt make sense who cares its just trippy to watch.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 02:04 PM

I like trippy things. But im not a stoner. Plus im curious on how well the animation blends in with the sounds.

lunch998 09-08-2004 02:04 PM

You should probably try to Listen to PATGOD before buying it just because its different from most of their other stuff. You'll probably like it, but I can pretty much guarantee that you would like WYWH.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 02:05 PM

You know me that well eh Lunch??

haha just messing.

Yeah, Wish You Were Here is about 10 bucks.

Oh yeah guys, well kept secret here.

go to www.xsao.net and you can listen to whole cds. They have almost every Floyd cd so if you're thinking about buying one, listen to it on that site first to see if you like it. :)

I own the DVD. It's worth a buy. But Blockbuster should have it.

The first time I watched it, I cried, and I was completely sober.

Well, hung over, but still sober.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 02:08 PM

Cried??? is it sad? A tearjerker? Or was it so bad that you didn't wanna watch it anymore.

Syd Barret kind of has the same tone that Waters does..

lunch998 09-08-2004 02:10 PM

This was discussed earlier, but has anyone listened to DSOTM while watching Wizard of Oz? I might give that a try if I get really bored one day.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 02:10 PM

Oooh Ooh Me! Me! I Have!

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 02:11 PM

Sad. Moving.

Well it hit me personally due to content. You'd have to watch it.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 02:13 PM

Oh. I was moved by the ablum...

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 02:14 PM

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233911

Lunch they hijacked my thread about the wall and made it about the wizard of oz / dark side of the moon sync kinda

lunch998 09-08-2004 02:14 PM

I haven't so is it cool/worth it?

Paranoidd 09-08-2004 02:16 PM
Oh. I was moved by the ablum...
If the album moved you, the movie will knock you out.

I thought the movie was fantastic, I haven't met someone who didn't like it.

MalcolmYoungRock 09-08-2004 02:17 PM
I haven't so is it cool/worth it?
Meh. Get high/stoned first. You'll be more excited about it. Be sure you keep your sense of music with you though.

"woah the midgets dance to the time of money!!! WOAAH!!!"
