i just got all of kanyes stuff off a mate and he is really really good. his production is awesome
It's a shame about his rapping

horseypie 03-17-2008 04:18 AM

you serious? i enjoy it

Apocalyptic Raids 03-17-2008 04:19 AM

I can handle it if the beat is good enough.

sgrevs 03-17-2008 04:23 AM

I can certainly handle his rapping, but his production is really the only reason I would listen to him.

horseypie 03-17-2008 04:37 AM

mmm...i suppose your right. but songs like school spirit are very good

Iai 03-17-2008 05:29 AM

To be honest I used to really enjoy Kanye's rapping, but he just got so lazy on Graduation. Rhyming 'klondike' with 'blonde dyke' was excruciating.

40 oz 2 freedom 03-17-2008 08:03 AM

His rhymes are weak

Iai 03-17-2008 08:07 AM

He used to make sure he had a few good pay-off lines in each track, though. It was kind of endearing. Now he doesn't even bother with that.

Rams 03-17-2008 09:52 AM

Nothing is as bad as his rapping on "Jesus Walks".

Well maybe "Touch the Sky".

Iai 03-17-2008 10:11 AM

"The Good Life" is easily worse than "Jesus Walks" for rapping.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-17-2008 10:49 AM

When I listen to Kanye I usually (not always) try to block out the vocals because behind all the lines like "I'm like a fly Malcom X, buy any jeans necessary" you can find some of the best and most innovative music in Hip Hop today. The guy is not afraid to blend almost any kind of music into his songs, he's spurring a revolution of creativity that is in-turn making it more accessible for guys like Lupe Fiasco to make it mainstream. You can point your finger and criticize him for all the controversies and all the half assed lyrics but me, I'm going to applaud Kanye West on being a man who isn't afraid to take a chance, a man who deserves to be respected, a man who's putting out some of the best music in Hip Hop today. I'm sick of seeing people bad mouth Kanye, he deserves more respect.

I'm seeing him with Lupe Fiasco on May 2nd too..... :D

Iai 03-17-2008 11:24 AM

Dude, that line is gold. Easily the best on that album.

Organized Konfusion is probably my favorite hip-hop act ever. Check em out if you haven't. Best lyrics i've heard in hip-hop, and among the best in general imho.

That line is pretty awesome if you ask me...

Iai 03-17-2008 03:34 PM

Organized Konfusion are awesome, yes.

At least that line shows some kind of wit and imagination, which is more than can be said of every other lyric on Graduation. Also, it's not as bad as 'I'm afraid of a ghost/It's the sight that I fear most/I'd rather have a piece of toast'.

Just downloading some Jeru The Damaja after I was in a bar & they were playing it through the speakers. My mate told me who it was & told me to download Wrath Of The Math. I've been wanting to get an album for ages I just never got round to it.

"Can’t buy this, superflyness, like a shyness, your highness
It’s performin’, look how long the line is
That’s what happens when you make **** that’s timeless
That’s what happens these rappers is the pioneers
What do it take to be a legend like Nas is?
That’s so novice, I’m so polished, I got a right to be a little bit snobbish"
-Kanye being classic

irishslappop 03-17-2008 04:13 PM

I'd like some stuff similar to Mickey Avalon. Suggestions?

yeah, I get jokes.

Seriously, though.

Iai 03-19-2008 11:42 AM

Never heard of the guy. Give us a representative tune or a decent description of his sound and I'll try and help you out.

Incidentally, "Hip-Hop" by Dead Prez has the sweetest bassline ever (at least this week).

Mr. Pickle 03-19-2008 01:36 PM

My two faves:

Wrath Of The Math is the shiznit.

Iai 03-20-2008 05:22 AM

Jesus those Mickey Avalon tracks are horrible. Sounds like a crappy male version of Princess Superstar, so I'd recommend her I guess.

Mr. Pickle 03-20-2008 08:31 AM

kthx...
