You really need all three. But if I had to choose one, I'd probably go for The Shins.

I'd say get The Flaming Lips - "Soft Bulletin", but any of those albums are winners

Poison the Well's oldest CD The Opposite of December, especially tracks "A Wish for Wings that Work" and "Slice Paper Wrists"

Also the "No Self Control" CD by the Planet Smashers especially the song "I Wish I Were American." That is a friggin awesome ska song. It would be my favorite ska song, if it wasn't for the Aquabats "Super Rad" and "Captain Hampton and the Midget Pirates."

So far today, it's been Joy Division's 'Permanent' and Captain Beefheart's 'Trout Mask Replica'.
