No, MBS/MYR. He's an ELO fanboy.
oh hahahaha Now I do like Telephone line, but thats about it really. |
I am a fan of AC/DC, but im afraid i have to disagree, Led Zeppelin were more Influential than AC/DC, and with AC/DC you know what your getting, That crunchy, heavy sound which is good for AC/DC, but with a band like Zeppelin, it was varied stuff, e.g Acoustic, Piano, Mandolins, but yeah, AC/DC are cool don't get me wrong
Good job putting off that attempted joke. Welcome to the CR thread fellow Led fan. A lot of the guys in here don't like them for some reason (I guess because they are overrated in their eyes compared to some other completely deserving CR bands), but I try ro get the led out on a regular basis. There used to be a LZ thread, but it keeps falling to the back of the forum. |
"Casino" was just on. That was the first time I had ever seen it. Good movie.
:) |
I like 'em.
I havent listened to them forever thoguh. |

Both of them are influential in negative ways. |
elo sucks, blah blah blah blah
Fuck you guys, ELO is cool. :( Jeff Lynne is one of the greatest musicians this century. |
Fuck you guys, ELO is cool. :(
Jeff Lynne is one of the greatest musicians this century.
Nah, not really. NP: The Grateful Dead-Shakedown Street (live at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena, 1981) |
Not trying to sound like a Zep fanboy n00b, but I think they're really excessively bashed here. They might be overrated by most people, especially those new to CR, but they're not that bad.
Edit: God I always seem to post something that was discussed ten posts ago. /has a slow computer |
Jeff Lynne is one of the greatest musicians this century.
I don't think he comes close to being among the top. I got a cool GD bootleg today, 2/14/68 Carasoul Ballroom, good stuff right there. It was used for some of the Athem of the Sun takes. |
and this century is on its 5th year
I like Come Sail Away a lot (/hides) |
Nah, not really.
He's cooler than JPJ.
I don't think he comes close to being among the top.
:upset: /listens to Livin' Thing Have you noticed we're all fanboys to musicians? Me - Jeff Lynne PinkFreud - Jeff Buckley Lunch - Keith Moon Gaypj (lol) - JPJ Livewired - Neil Young |

I'm not gonna name any names *coughschymacough*, but yea I agree.
He's cooler than JPJ.
Nah, not really. And you do realize dissing JPJ stopped hurting my feelings like a month after I joined right :p |
and this century is on its 5th year
I like Come Sail Away a lot (/hides)
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. That just disqualifies Jeff Lynne even more. :p |
and this century is on its 5th year
You know, you bring up a good thought Seafroggys. I mean, we haven't even scraped the surface pf this millenium: who knows what sort of music and musicians we'll see in the future? I have a distinct feeling that back in 1905 with their light piano and flute pieces, they couldn't even comprehend stuff like 50's rock n' roll, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who, any of the bands or music that are now getting on to half a century old. We have no idea what could be coming. Something to think about... |

Props for the avatar :thumb:
Well, you like little boys.
Your point? NP: The Grateful Dead-The weirdest version of Friend of the Devil I've ever heard. |
What are some of your favourite Beatles basslines?
|
NP: The Grateful Dead-The weirdest version of Friend of the Devil I've ever heard.
Is it the slow-*** version with the muted notes on The Closing of Winterland? I love that version so much, so great to just vibe to. |
Ha this thread is so hilarious. I love the nicknames MBS gives people when he quotes them, I should start doing things like that.
I'm a fan boy for a lot of musicians, too lazy to list them all. I'm probably a biggest fanboy for Dylan though. Bigtrav, that's pretty interesting to think about. It's cool to think about what music will be like in like 50 years. Or even 20. You never know how it can evolve. Edit- Favorite Beatles basslines- Something, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Come Together... lots of good McCartney basslines. He's one of the most melodic bassists. Edit 2- And I'd probably agree that we bash Zeppelin too much, and I don't even like Zeppelin. I respect them for their instrumental talent (especially Bonham). And JPJ for his multiple skills. Page is a very skilled guitarist but tremendously overrated and is a thief. I don't respect Robert Plant. At all. |
And in 50 years we'll look back to the music we were listening to now, and remember it as the music of our youth, even though it was released so long before :P
|
Yeah robo, it will be really interesting, at least hopefully we'll still have a recording industry, which we won't if the file-sharing rate keeps growing like it is, because it will end up the artists won't get paid anything :(
I'm a Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin fanboy at heart. /waits for Schyma to come in and call me a n00b before getting back to rehab |
Bigtrav, that's pretty interesting to think about. It's cool to think about what music will be like in like 50 years. Or even 20. You never know how it can evolve.
Think something like 'Mr. Roboto'... except it's all robots. |
Think something like 'Mr. Roboto'... except it's all robots.
Well that's what I'm afraid of... but hopefully techno and robots won't take over the music world. |
hahaha its styx, nothing of value has ever came from styx.
Mr. Roboto rules and you know it
Yep, Led Zeppelin Rock
lawl For the record, ELO rock my socks. |
If I wrote a very long review on Sputnikmusic on the Concert for George... would you guys read it? :hopeful:
|
i would :raises hand:
|
I'll read it. Can I get a link?
I'm a fan boy for a lot of musicians, too lazy to list them all. I'm probably a biggest fanboy for Dylan though.
Yeah thats me too over the summer I became a HUGE fanboy. Whenever I start talking about Dylan I can see the look in my friends eyes saying "oh god here comes another rant about Dylan, were gonna be here for awhile" |
Is it the slow-*** version with the muted notes on The Closing of Winterland? I love that version so much, so great to just vibe to.
Nope, it's off a bootleg from '81 I downloaded. My dad was at the show so that's why I wanted to hear it.
What are some of your favourite Beatles basslines?
Come Together, I Want You (She's So Heavy), and Taxman.
Think something like 'Mr. Roboto'... except it's all robots.
You just gave me an idea...
If I wrote a very long review on Sputnikmusic on the Concert for George... would you guys read it? :hopeful:
I would. Concert for George is an awesome cd. Clapton's solo in While My Guitar Gently Weeps leaves me:eek: I need that DVD. w00t clown_phobia finally got an avatar. Watch out for that JPJ, he's a real tricky comedian. This thread moves so much faster when it's just spam. |
do MX usernames have a minium length? i want to change my username b ut i dont know if the one i want is too short
|
Playing My Guitar Gently Wheeps must have been so sad for him that night. It must have been one of the few times he played it with out looking over and seeing George.

I believe it was the only time it was ever played without them both.
Watch out for that JPJ, he's a real tricky comedian.
Don't patronize me, bitch. /slaps |
do MX usernames have a minium length? i want to change my username b ut i dont know if the one i want is too short
3 characters, I think.
Playing My Guitar Gently Wheeps must have been so sad for him that night. It must have been one of the few times he played it with out looking over and seeing George.
Just seeing the look on his face after he played the solo is depressing. It was a very emotional time for him. |
I saw a Clapton interview where he talked about how emotional and sad it was to play the song without George. It was a good interview. I'll search google for it. Or maybe I won't because I'm lazy.
|
Just imagine how sad it will be when Paul dies :(
|
Just imagine how sad it will be when Paul dies
I don't even want to imagine it. Paul will live forever. So will Neil Young. So will Jeff Lynne. So will the remaining 3 members of Led Zeppelin. /ignorant to death |
