the evil riff at the end of buried at sea pwns every time
huh? ive heard it and its my fav of theirs
sorry i misread your post

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:36 PM

Yeah, that riff (such a simple description but I know exactly what you mean) is ****ing awesome.

Also, seriously, Sam's vocals on Ruin are so much more ridiculous than the Dead Swans split and Hollow Crown.

Plus I love the sludgy parts and post-metal riffs on Ruin.

ef yeah, fun song to play yourself as well
lots of odd timed riffs

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:39 PM

Seriously, when the video for Buried At Sea came out, I was like, wait, this is Architects?! WHAT?! They got RIDICULOUS... they already WERE ridiculous.

Also, I'm not nearly a good enough guitarist to play anything they play lol.

I love screaming along with Ruin though, everything fits within my range, even his clean singing. :D

beans 01-05-2010 08:41 PM

i have yet to try doing vocals to it, i guess i just enjoy listening to his to try and put mine over it

beer and risk, peace

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:42 PM

I just like singing along with things lol. In no way do I think I'm anywhere near as good as Sam at that type of vox, though I do draw a lot of influence from him.

/jealous of beer and risk

beans 01-05-2010 11:18 PM

it was fun, even though i got annihilated

xMalcolmXx 01-05-2010 11:40 PM

you obviously didn't get australia

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 12:22 AM

Australia is nothing, Europe is the first place to go for son.

How can you say that and claim to not like Always? That and Heartless have their two best post-influenced moments

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 01:23 AM

Because Always is boring, idk.

lollerz

Apoc 01-06-2010 01:33 AM

just sayin.

and yeah Sam's vocals on Ruin are definitely ballin.

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 01:36 AM

Yeah, dude's got skills.

Apoc 01-06-2010 01:37 AM

it's an effin shame people compare him to Ollie.

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 01:39 AM

IDK, Oli's hardcore vocals sound like a weaker version of Sam's higher hardcore vocals.

But Oli's a ****ing good vocalist himself, tbh. Not hardcore style, but his shrieks, his gutturals, and his rasp mid range are ****ing POWERFUL.

Nepenthe 01-06-2010 01:40 AM

mappy its nigh time we just give up trying to defend count your blessings

Apoc 01-06-2010 01:41 AM

powerful's one thing, and he has that in spades - I just don't like the feel, the aesthetic of the sound. Whereas Sam maintains a balance between power and appeal.

Some of the vocals on Suicide Season are just poor
