New Devin the Dude rules. Can't stop listening.

Also Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales. Might be my favorite metal album ever.

cool

Madvillain - Madvillainy
Radiohead - In Rainbows

these two have been growing on me lately. i've been on a massive doom kick and i'm starting to like madvillain a lot after it took me a little while to appreciate madlib's production. i still prefer doom when he raps over his own productions, though.

in rainbows has grown on me a little, it's more consistent that their last two albums and works well as a whole but it lacks polish, and it doesn't have any of those really great emotional, intense build-ups/climaxes that they are capable of (like 2+2=5 or exit music). it just sounds like them jamming with with a few string arrangements over the top. meh

sgrevs 10-13-2008 08:50 PM

I think Madvillainy is probably my favourite Doom album.

ATM 10-13-2008 09:39 PM

Doom took a while to grow on me, but after listening to Mm..Food a couple of time I was hooked.

Do you guys have the King Geedorah album?

O Great eye 10-13-2008 09:43 PM

Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Ufomammut - Idolum
Deerhunter - Microcastle

been runnin through some doom/stoner metal, and picked up the new Deerhunter recently. definitely good stuff. and Ufomammut is so good... but right now i think Snailking > Idolum

ATM 10-13-2008 09:49 PM

Yeah, Snailking is better but Idolum still rules.

bleep_bloop 10-14-2008 12:29 AM

I've been diggin' the hell out of Les Razillizes Denudes' Live 77 recently. Noisy, sloppy, contradictory perfection, if i've ever heard it.

also
The Very Special World of Lee Hazlewood (his version of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" is hilarious and makes me want to get arrested for public drunkenness).

Kevin Coye and Dagmar Krause - Babble ("Are You Deceiving Me?" is an awesomely imperfect perfect song)
