I use the one from my headset. But it's trash. Barely picks up gain at all. I downloaded Guitar Rig but I can't save because I don't have a CD Key.
What's going on here? I can record guitar, but no voice (I left my mic at home). But me and Deus were going to do a song too. Don't know if that every went through...

EDIT: And I can play that whole song too. Studio and Anthology versions.
We're going to enter the rock/metal cover competition as a thread. I'm thinking of covering While My Guitar Gently Weeps, but if anybody has any other ideas, I'm all ears. So far I have:

Myself - Guitars, Bass
Clown_Phobia - unspecified
Magicbus - Guitar
I'm listening to it again now. I think I like it better than Live/Dead, if only it had St. Stephen (but they hadn't even written it when this was recorded.)

Is that just the songs from the movie or are there ones that aren't on it?
Yea, DP 22 is great, and I still really want that Fillmore West 3 CD set.

The Grateful Dead Movie Soundtrack has much more than the movie, it's 5 discs. I think the whole last disc has Mickey Hart back too, so even though the repeat a song or two the versions are pretty different.

blue3 01-07-2006 09:20 PM

I have a mic.. but you guys already have guitars and bass.
What kind of mics do you guys use? Now that I have a job, I was thinking about buying a mic but I don't know anything about them.
I have some cheap mic, but it works well.

MBS 01-07-2006 09:25 PM

I've got a mic headset. I wish I could somehow remove the mic though, because the headphones are really high quality and I can't really use them when my mic is by my amp.

Yea, I think I'm gonna get that soon. I saw it at Circuit City. I'd like to pick up some more Dick's Picks as well. Have you heard any others or heard good things about any specific ones?

I would, but I'm going to bed soon because it's late and I'm exhausted.

Morrison I had a look at your list though, and I have a bunch of stuff on your wanted list, so if you want to hit me up at Robo2448 (AIM) tomorrow I can hook you up.

JonG 01-07-2006 11:04 PM

Yeah. I saw a thread on him today ><

I make a thread, it gets 2 replies :(

He puts on a magnificent live show.

I'd like to play guitar. I could also help out with backing vocals/vocals of some kind.

Leper 01-07-2006 11:20 PM

Do you guys use soundboards or do you just plug your mics right into the computer? I'm a super n00b at recording.:-/

Badmoon 01-07-2006 11:39 PM

I have DP 23 and I like it. It's not amazing but it's good, I don't regret buying it. 40-minute The Other One = Sex.

At the GD Store they have some decent reviews, I think eventually I'd like to get DP 4, 18, and 36.

You play banjo?

Nice.

I need to get me a banjo. That would be sweet. The top 3 instruments I want are:

1. pedal steel
2. sitar
3. banjo

:)

Everybody should check out this Sardinas video :)

Glitterati 01-08-2006 01:35 AM

What does everyone think of James Brown? I think he's awesome.

Leper 01-08-2006 01:59 AM

I think he's alright. Gotta love that scream of his though.

MBS 01-08-2006 11:10 AM

Hay d00ds, we need a drummer!!!!1111oenoneoneoen

Seriously, if we don't get one, I might be going to Fnnrqwin's house today, and he's got a drumkit, so if worse comes to worse, I'll record the rythmn and drum tracks there.

Lunch 01-08-2006 11:12 AM

I don't have a Mic, sorry team.

Oh yea, I play Drums and mandolin.

How's the mandolin going?

For me, I'm getting used to it but it took awhie to adapt to it because of the tuning.

Lunch 01-08-2006 11:41 AM

It's good, I can't play very much though. I end up playing the same things over and over again.

Mein bass 01-08-2006 11:41 AM

Mandolin eh?
That's got to be fun :chug:

Krabsworth 01-08-2006 11:56 AM

Okay someone fill me in on what is going on with everybody needing mics?

Broken Arrow 01-08-2006 11:57 AM
It's good, I can't play very much though. I end up playing the same things over and over again.
Haha, yeah that's a prblem for me too.

Yesterday I figured out the opening to "Friend of the Devil" (not the acutal mandolin, the guitar part).

It's still pretty cool though.

I also found out a 12 bar blues shuffle thing on the mandolin yesterday.
Okay someone fill me in on what is going on with everybody needing mics?
I'm going to try to enter the CR thread in the Rock/Metal Cover competiton. We need a drummer who has a mic.

Krabsworth 01-08-2006 12:02 PM

MBS 01-08-2006 12:03 PM
What song is everone gonna do?
I was thinking "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", but I don't know.

Krabsworth 01-08-2006 12:08 PM

Who is playing what?

magicbus 01-08-2006 12:10 PM

I can do lead if you guys want. Right now I'm just listed as guitar, but whatever's cool.

np: Cream - Spoonful

Krabsworth 01-08-2006 12:11 PM

I'll play on it.

JonG 01-08-2006 12:43 PM

I got some new albums on the PC. I hit the 500 mark :)

Blind Lemon Jefferson - King of the Country Blues
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis
Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism
John Lee Hooker - Live at Cafe au Go-Go (and Soledad Prison)
Minutemen - What Makes a Man Start Fires?

Glitterati 01-08-2006 12:45 PM

If someone can hit me up with some sheet music for the keyboard part to While My Guitar, I might be able to play (I've got a mike somewhere around, I think.)

I think I have the keyboard part transcribed into tab, I'll write it out for you, if I can find it.
