Does anybody know why Hendrix took his backplate off of his guitars?
It was cause he had trouble in clubs changing strings(strats have string through bodies and it's easier to string with no back plate)

So...what's the deal with old artists releasing new material?

The Stones new song, "Rough Justice" is pretty bad. Alice Cooper's new single is an R&B Stones/CCR rip off. The riff is ripped from the solo in "Proud Mary", I think. And the lyrics are really bad.

And Paul McCartney's new single is pretty mediocre.

It's kind of sad...

I heard another new Stones song, Oh If Not for You that was pretty bad. I've been reading what I missed, and that page someone posted with Thickasabrick drunk was fucking hilarious  The next page in the thread was great too. Creedence seems like a funny guy. What happened to him? I don't think I've seen him post since I joined.

Edit- I've been reading posts from my n00b days, and when I first came here, Illmatic and me were the only Stones fans

np- The Lantern

PinkFreud and I were also the only fans of Who By Numbers. Lunch said he didn't really like it back then

Woodstock 08-02-2005 05:34 PM

I went to the library today, picked up some Cd's I'm gonna burn:

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones' Rock & Roll Circus
Nick Drake - Made To Love Magic

And I went to the mall and bought a book called Classic Album Covers of the 60's.

ultimaterocker 08-02-2005 05:35 PM

Clapton's new single makes the stones new one look like a masterpiece.

Walrus Gumboot 08-02-2005 06:21 PM

So I'm guessing Robert Plant's new single owns all of them?

I should find my first post...

NP- John Lennon, Love

Against Miik! 08-02-2005 06:24 PM

I like Robert Plants new single. I haven't heard Claptons or the Stones yet.
Clapton's new single makes the stones new one look like a masterpiece.
It can't be as bad as Clapton's 80's stuff with Phil Collins, can it? :(

I really couldn't tell you, having never heard his 80's stuff, but if it was with Phil Collins then i can't see this song being any worse...god i hate phil collins.

NP: The Rolling Stones- It's All Over Now

I haven't actually heard the 80's stuff either, but I've heard stories about how bad it is. I agree with you about Phil Collins.

Illmatic 08-02-2005 07:19 PM

My gf actually likes Phil Collins*

* - likes that song "In The Air Tonight"

My mom has a bunch of Phill Collin's records

I guess there is an advantage to having a broken record player.

pigonthewing82 08-02-2005 07:29 PM

Today I got John Lennon's Mind Games, I've only gotten to listen up to the second track, but so far its pretty good.

I'm thinking about getting that. Tell us how it is when you're done with it.
Edit- I've been reading posts from my n00b days, and when I first came here, Illmatic and me were the only Stones fans
I've always been a Stones fan. We almost never talked about them and each time they got mentioned the regulars (in general) would say "There's really nothing special about them they're pretty mediocore if you ask me." but opinions have changed for the better I guess.

Congrats on getting the best Jazz album ever. Ever! I think you should have stolen it though. An album like that needs to be the actual CD. :thumb:
Truth is, I don't even like classic rock.
I don't like it either. Truth is I'm a huge Emo ganster that likes to break dance to techno. I'm sorry I have lied to all of you. :(

I wouldn't call it the best jazz album ever.

Pfft.....I would call it the best album ever. It's perfect.

Illmatic 08-02-2005 07:37 PM

In the words of Sly Stone, different strokes for different folks.

Sly Stone knows his shit.

Lunch 08-02-2005 07:39 PM

I think Bitches Brew is my favorite jazz album.

Edit: Not that I have a huge Jazz colection, but from what I've heard.

As much as I love Bitches Brew it isn't perfect by any means. It actully has alot of flaws but that doesn't mean it's not one of the most fantastic albums my ears have heard though. It's my 2nd favorite and Out to Lunch is a very close 3rd.

jpj 08-02-2005 08:09 PM

My favorite jazz album?

*thinks*
*can't decide*

I really need A Love Supreme and Out to Lunch, none of the fuckers in the Jazz YSI thread will upload them.

magicbus 08-02-2005 08:12 PM

My favorite jazz album is George Benson's "Bad Benson", but I haven't heard much.

Lunch 08-02-2005 08:12 PM

I don't even know how to describe Bitches Brew, I sometimes think of it as "sludge" psychedelia in jazz.

Walrus Gumboot 08-02-2005 08:12 PM

I need a Love Supreme too. We can blitzkreig the YSI threads until they upload it

The only jazz album I (used to have) was John Scofield's A-Go-Go with MMW. That album has since been returned to the netherworld of lost CD's

drugstore cowboy 08-02-2005 08:14 PM

I must have a few jazz albums, the ones I listen to mostly are Take Five with Dave Brubeck, and Oscar Peterson's Night Train. The latter is really good.
