Hello everyone. My computer is a piece of shit.

And I recently found a thrash band that a seriously like, something I never thought would happen.

As I recall, the C&C vocalist was much more annoying than Geddy Lee.

Welcome to my life.

C&C's vocalist makes Geddy Lee sound like Maynard (or insert non-irritating voice here).

It crashed twice in the past few days, and both times we had to buy a brand new hardrive and start from scratch.

Right now I'm retrieving all of the things I used to use like soulseek, AIM, yahoo stuff, Audacity etc. What hurts the msot is that all my music is gone. :(

But on the bright side, my neighbor (a great computer guy, handled the whole thing for us) gave us a few upgrades. The new hard drive is twice as big as the old one and we have a shitload of RAM now. On top of it, our internet connection is working correctly for the first time ever. w00t for fast-as-hell computers.

Do you have a DVD burner?

Shattered_Future 10-29-2005 08:06 PM

Shaaaadup...I'm stuck with a 1998 400 mhz Power Mac G4. :upset:

It explodes if you attempt to run more than 3 programs at once.
Do you have a DVD burner?
I think so. I've burned DVDs in the past.

Jom 10-29-2005 08:14 PM

The damndest thing just happened.

I was sitting here watching football, and I get an IM from AOL System Msg, saying that my AIM screen name (where only twenty people know it) has just logged in on another location.

I NEVER log in onto AIM anywhere except my laptop. This really concerns me, so now I just went through and changed all my passwords.

:upset:

Shadows 10-29-2005 08:16 PM

That would scare the hell out of me. I would think, "oh my God! Who is doing this, where are they, and how do they know my password!!??".

Storm In A Teacup 10-29-2005 08:18 PM
Does anyone else think the guy from Coheed and Cambria sound's exactly like Geddy Lee from Rush?
I love both bands, but I don't think that they are much alike vocally.

Edit: I would easily choose Geddy as the better singer.

blue3 10-29-2005 08:28 PM

I don't listen to Coheed and Cambria.. but I've heard a song by them and it didn't sound like Geddy Lee.

Jom 10-29-2005 08:31 PM
That happens to me all the time. When I get cut off it doesn't register me as logged out, so when I log back in it thinks I'm on twice. It's likely something similarly mundane is what happened in your case, Jom. But
But I haven't signed off - even when my uni connection craps out, it hasn't done that since last night when I was asleep :upset:
That would scare the hell out of me. I would think, "oh my God! Who is doing this, where are they, and how do they know my password!!??".
Exactly. Nobody knows about this top-secret screen name except for twenty people.

:upset:

Now it makes me think that whoever is behind this knows my passwords for everything :upset:

Riva 10-29-2005 08:37 PM

Change every password that you use. It sounds paranoid though, I know.

--------------------

Geddy Lee? More like Girly Lee, amirite?

Shadows 10-29-2005 08:39 PM

No. No you are not.

Jom 10-29-2005 08:42 PM
Change every password that you use. It sounds paranoid though, I know.
I'm in the process of doing this, except for my uni passwords. I hate changing my passwords, but every single site says, "You should change your passwords regularly for maximum security."

If by 'regularly' they mean, 'When you get a scary IM from AOL System Msg,' then I guess I'm doing alright in this department.

Riva 10-29-2005 08:43 PM
No. No you are not.
Hey, I like Rush as much as the next guy, but Geddy sounds more like a girl than Shirley from Skyhooks.
Hey, I like Rush as much as the next guy, but Geddy sounds more like a girl than Shirley from Skyhooks.
It's alright, I was kidding. :) I'm not a big Rush fan, but his voice has a strange sound to it that I think makes it obvious he's a guy. The vocalist for C&C, however, I thought was female when I first heard him.

For anybody's who's heard this, tell me how awesome this song is. Its beautiful. No joke, in the right state of mind, I could cry listening to it. Its so emotional.
Hey, I like Rush as much as the next guy, but Geddy sounds more like a girl than Shirley from Skyhooks.
I like how he sings  Maybe I just like Peart?

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-29-2005 09:42 PM

If growls don't bother someone, I don't see why high pitched vocals would.

Mezzanine is still owning me. I love the way they use all of the vocalists to really mix up the mood.

The new song I'm working on, here's what I have so far.

I'm whoring it everywhere. It's not necessarily for the competition because it's not really thrash even though it has thrash elements, but if Jom allows me to submit it, why the hell not?

If you want something emotional and good, try freaking I Don't Feel Very Receptive Today by Underoath, God, I <3 well written 'screamo.'

Neurotoxin 10-29-2005 11:22 PM

My friend had an early demo of Underoath... it was borderline death metal. I'm not sure if it was actually Underoath though.

/good night R&M.

i am the robots 10-29-2005 11:25 PM

Underoath was Melodic Death Metal mixed with Thrash and Emo up until 2001.

EDIT: Also, when did this 'demo' come out? It may have just been one of their EPs (either Cries of the Past or Acts of Depression). Brilliant albums really.
