I heard Chav stood for CHeltnam AVerage
My old latin teacher once told us it came from a latin verb meaning "to steal".

He also helpfully informed us that "Wallsend" comes from "end of the wall", which I'm pretty sure is correct, so I choose to believe he was right about the former, too.

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-18-2005 07:53 PM

Pig Destroyer are some form of grind. Therapy? I guess you call an alt rock band.

So I got a Creative Zen Sleek yesterday. It's sooo cool.

My history teacher told us where the word fuck came from.

Interesting, she told us it came from Louis XIV, and it stood for Fornication Under the Consent of the King.

I think that's a myth. It's more likely to come from some germanic language.

Heh, Ive heard In Mist She Was Standing and The Twilight Is My Robe. I love them both. Im sure I wont be disapointed in the album.

Orchid is great, but there is hardly any acoustic guitar on it and only like 2 parts of clean singing, plus Mikael's vocals on their newer stuff are a lot better.

gillygan 12-18-2005 08:32 PM

blue3 12-18-2005 08:35 PM

Personally, I like the growling better, so that doesn't bother me. But the whole album just feels more melodic to me. The newer albums seem much more aggressive and angry.

The growling was much worse on the old stuff than the clean singing, it has a very wheezey sound to it, now it's hardy and deap.

Arrakakaka 12-18-2005 08:48 PM
Damn, do I love me some At the Gates. Slaughter of the Soul is probably my favorite, but Terminal Spirit Disease is really good too.

Their first two albums weren't nearly as good though.
I beg to differ. Their older albums were rawer, heavier, and pwn SotS IMO.

gillygan 12-18-2005 08:48 PM

I have a few other albums on here. I'll listen to some newer ones.

I can send Dane Cook's Retaliation, but I don't have his other one.
