NemesisDivina 07-24-2007 10:52 AM

lmao, are you sure that's 1000 Funerals? They're not Satanic or anything. He looks completely gay.

the2stranger 07-24-2007 11:22 AM

Yeah, it's the dude from 1000 Funerals and he looks absolutely ridicilous.

You can search for yourself on google and you'll see, it's him.

I love the inverted cross, he probably ripped that off the wall from his parents house.
(or not since he's from Iran :-\ )

NemesisDivina 07-24-2007 11:25 AM

it's the guy named Avinar... he has some other black metal projects that look pretty f*ckin gay

Kage 07-24-2007 12:25 PM

That's absolutely ridiculous. I never expected them to look like that, especially given that they're from Iran.

RetiredAt21 07-24-2007 01:53 PM

NemesisDivina 07-24-2007 05:29 PM

 bad image, good music.

Dargon 07-25-2007 09:51 AM

NP: Sacred Metal

now this is real doom

EDIT: ok top 10:

Candlemass - Nightfall
Solstice - Lamentations
Pagan Altar - Volume 1
Reverend Bizarre - In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend
Doomsword - s/t
Bedemon - Child of Darkness
Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Solstice - A New Dark Age
Trouble - Psalm 9
Pentagram - Pentagram

probably something like that
leaving out St. Vitus was hard

Txus 07-25-2007 10:31 AM

Bedemon is the only band I haven't heard in there. Great list btw.

NP: Warning - The Strength to Dream \m/

pate 07-25-2007 01:10 PM

Great great list but it needs Solitude Aeturnus.

not top 10 material imo, but I need to re-listen to the two albums I have.

pate 07-25-2007 01:23 PM

Which two do you have?

Solitude are probably my favorite band period. Into the Depths of Sorrow, Beyond the Crimson Horizon, and Through the Darkest Hour are three of my absolute favorite albums.

And they are damn good live, and damn awesome to talk to.

Dargon 07-25-2007 01:44 PM

yeah the first two. They didn't catch my attention as much as Solstice for example, but I'll give them some more listens.

bassaholica2004 07-26-2007 01:05 AM

I know this is really late into my metal career, but I finally got Nightfall. I can't believe I've been missing this stuff for so long! How does Solitude Aeturnus compare to Candlemass? I want to hear some, but money is tight. :(

Also, I wish I could find Psalm 9. I want it so bad!

Silenius 07-26-2007 01:44 AM

I haven't seen you around forever man. :)

Good list. There's a few alternatives I'd have put in but all in all good work.

And here's a few more for those who like the real stuff:

Penance - all albums are essential. My favourite is SpiritualNatural
Iron Man
Bloodfarmers
Warning
Orodruin
The Gates of Slumber
Las Cruces
Well of Souls (US)
Mirror of Deception
Revelation
Ritual
Place of Skulls
Rising Dust

There are so many great, great doom bands. Easily the most consistently great genre.

Dargon 07-26-2007 07:59 AM

I've got a few of those Jondur. The Gates of Slumber are great. I'll look at the others but I'm not a HUGE doom fan so I'll probably just stick with what I got.
I haven't seen you around forever man. :)
Lol yeah I've been trying to get into new music lately. I think I've grown out of death/black metal, so now my new obsession is doom.

I got two new cd's today, Cathedral- The Carnival Bizarre, and Black Sabbath's Vol. 4. The Cathedral album is really good, I like it a lot. BS is my favorite band, and this was my last cd to complete my collection. :smoke:

How would you guys rate St. Vitus? Are they closer to a Candlemass or Sabbath type of doom? They look interesting, but they didn't have any of their cd's at the store.

Shattered_Future 07-26-2007 02:50 PM

St. Vitus always gave me more of a Sabbath vibe. They're some of the most traditional of traditional doom metal.

pate 07-26-2007 03:23 PM

The Carnival Bizarre is an excellent album.

And Vitus is essential listening.

Hey man, would you please upload Pentagram- Be Forewarned? I know you have it cause I read your sound off on it. I want that album so bad and I can't find any active links for it or anything.

TojesDolan 07-26-2007 09:08 PM

Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus

gg I'll listen to this now

Buy it.

rippa32 07-27-2007 04:56 AM

I bought the new Candlemass album today, despite having none of the others and I am very impressed. Some great songs on it. Just a question though, is it a concept album?

Dargon 07-27-2007 08:02 AM
And this is why I love it so much.
I love it because it conveys an epic atmosphere far better than any other genre.

Speaking of epic, I need to hunt down the latest 3 Doomswords.

NP: Doomsword - Helms Deep

Phototropic 07-27-2007 09:12 AM

just ordered Hex: printing in the infernal method by Earth, love the 2 tracks i've heard off it so far, can't wait for it!

also just bought Neurosis - given to the rising and Sunn0))) - white 2 this morning :) will settle down and absorb them later

anyone dig ?

AlienEater 07-27-2007 09:28 AM

The Neurosis album is good but they break no new ground whatsoever.
