Hey guys...I'm just asking your take... On all the Opeth tour dates, they are touring overseas during the fall...I thought they were suppost to be coming here? :(
|
I got Ghost Reveries a few days ago, and it's good stuff. Maybe even better than Blackwater Park. I can also safely say that Morningrise is my favorite album of theirs.
|
They'll be here eventually, I hope. The official tour dates tend to be way behind the promoters' dates though, so be sure to check ticketmaster and such.

I prefer Blackwater Park but Ghost Reveries comes in right after that. It ties with Still Life for me. |
Ghost Reveries is my favourite Opeth ever. On most of their albums there a one or two songs which are good, but not great. On, GR though, they are all amazing IMO.
I am making a list of all of Opeth's soft songs. Here is what I have so far:
01 - Face Of Melinda 02 - Harvest 03 - Benighted 04 - For Absent Friends 05 - Hope Leaves 06 - In My Time of Need 07 - To Bid You Farewell 08 - Windowpane 09 - A Fair Judgement 10 - Closure 11 - Credence 12 - Death Whispered A Lullaby 13 - To Rid The Disease 14 - Ending Credits 15 - Weakness 16 - Requiem 17 - Patterns in the Ivy 18 - Patterns in the Ivy II 19 - Atonement 20 - Hours of Wealth 21 - Isolation Years 22 - Madrigal 23 - Silhouette 24 - Still Day Beneath the Sun Are there any others that I am leaving out?
Oh yay thank you for making that list! I'm getting into opeth and I think they're really awesome, but I'm not a huge fan of the harsh vocals, so this is just what I needed! |
If you're not a fan of harsh vocals, and you're getting into opeth, get Blackwater Park or Still Life, those CD's are their most balanced between harsh and clean vocals, and thus are good for helping you get into them, because there are parts where out of nowhere he stops growling and sings.... I didn't like harsh vox at first, but then I got Still Life, and now I love harsh vox.

Mikeals harsh vox pwns.

So far ive heard Reverie/Harlequin forest, ghost of perdition, isolation years and The Grand Conjuration. So far, I'm undecided. From what i've heard, talk is it's Opeths 'most experimental album' to date etc. I understand Opeth need to evolve to stay alive but that doesnt mean take away intensity and passion. I haven't felt any of the these emotions with this new album (isolation years is really close).
For me the keyboards can both work and fail. Opeth are at their devilishly best when they use guitars to create atmosphere. It will grow on me but it's not a MAYH just yet. |
Give those songs some more to grow on you. I thought the album was a bit of a let down to begin with, but now im in love with it.

You're crazy. Almost all of their albums are great all the way through. I can safely say I have enjoyed every track of every album Opeth has released. |
I have to say that, some tracks are better then others. Though none suck and or are bad in general.
|
I have resisted my will to download
mwuahah I will buy it the day it is released |

Just wondering if anyone's going to the Leeds gig in November? I'm going, despite only being 16 at that time and it's an over 18s gig. I'm hoping to find someone in the que (hopefully with facial hair) that looks around my age and go in with them. Actually it could be an mxer, there's a drink in it for the person who does it.

Now I don't feel so bad about missing it. I'm 16 see. |

Meh, well our opinions are very different. I think every song is amazing, I haven't heard anything that I even slightly disliked. I've heard everything other than the demo, whose tracks ended up on Orchid anyway. |
I'm just getting into Opeth, I've heard bleak and blackwater park and i love them, could someone reccomend me some other songs to download please :thumb:
Now I don't feel so bad about missing it.
I'm 16 see.
weird that you have a minimum age for gigs, we don't have that here. but I wouldn't really care, cause I'm 19 |

I tried to download it but could not find it, oh well.
|
I was gonna wait and buy it when released, but then I realized that I didn't have any money. So then I pirated it, and enjoyed the fruits of my labor.
