It seems like his backing vocals are weak, during live shows.

highwaysalmon 09-02-2006 11:01 PM

Im waiting to hear hammetts solo album in a decade or two, should be interesting.

Chu 09-03-2006 02:57 AM

A while ago we had the idea to do an online tribute band for Metallica, I'd like to revive that idea again.

I have only improved ten fold since then, I would love to contribute something, if anyone else wants to, it would be cool, so throw some suggestions in :thumb:

I'd like to do that.

The 57th Medical Failure 09-03-2006 07:00 AM

I'll confess: ^_^
I had a "black metal artists do metallica" album and was singing/screaming along with RTL tracks.

Chu 09-03-2006 08:05 AM

Ok, well, I think the way we'll go about doing this, is...

Everyone submits a track of what they want to do, we'll ALL vote (Even the people who didn't contribute?), on who's are the best, if we have for instance, two MoP guitar tracks, and a drum track, we could easily get a bass and vocal track done, and vise versa...

We should see if we can get one song from every album, and do a sort of MX Tribute to Metallica? I dunno...

Personally, I'll try and record ...And Justice for All guitar track (It'll be rhythm), drums and maybe vocals, depending on how long it takes for us (Me and my drummer) to learn the full song... (I know most of it on guitar, I'd just need to learn the vocals).

I'd honestly love it if we got some of the crazy MX guitarists to give us some improv lead *Cough* MRDuCran *Cough* :chug:

:chug: Nice choice of song there too, great track.

Will it be recorded properly, i.e, miced up drum kit and then 2/4 seperate guitar tracks etc??

E_man 09-03-2006 10:32 AM

Oh man no I have no idea what bass track to do!!! TOO MANY SONGS!!!!

adamstartin 09-03-2006 11:12 AM

I'd probably do summet off St. Anger like St. Anger of My world or summet coz im a sucky guitarist and i seem to be the only person who likes the album anyway haha. Although it'd be nice to do summet off garage inc like turn the page of sabra cadabra.

Jev 09-03-2006 11:16 AM

I'd probably do something on bass.

adamstartin 09-03-2006 11:31 AM

Ahh man, lets get summet arranged. Maybe it should be done like R&M compo or summet. Everyone has a month to sumbit a song or summet, but collaborations are allowed.

MRDuCran 09-03-2006 01:00 PM

Oh wait, is Chu's original idea that we all record a full song by ourselves first and then people vote on who should do which instrument in a final collab??

If not, then I'm kinda confused as to what's going down.

Chu 09-03-2006 07:12 PM

That's sort of what I meant.

I don't want people to vote for songs here, because simply put, you're better at guitar then me.. If we say "Let's do Seek & Destroy", and we get like 8 different versions of the same song on guitar, it's kinda pointless imo.. If we play what we want to play, on the odd occaison we do get repeats, we can either vote on which version is better, or just use both tracks (Rhythm/Lead).

adamstartin, I would love to play Shoot Me Again :thumb: (Although, I only have a 6 string?)

E_man, it doesn't matter what song you do! Just, if you record a song, and there's not another instrument's recording for it, you should probably post for someone to record you the song too :p

Thor 09-03-2006 07:24 PM

Did anyone watch VH1 last night? They played the Heavy: Story of Metal show again and I thought Metallica's segment was rather bad. They didn't talk about their essential albums at all...the only things that were really talked about was Kill Em All and the Black Album. Rather depressing, yes?

MRDuCran 09-03-2006 07:27 PM

lol I'm still confused. Are we supposed to record a full song or just one instruments worth (i.e rhythm guitar)?

'Cause I thought it was going ot be like the online Nevermore cover that was put together (not sure if you heard it or not) or if different people were going to cover different songs and we just put them all together like that Kerrang Mop tribute thing.

Chu 09-03-2006 07:35 PM

Just one instrument's worth (Unless you have the ability to do multiple, in which case, please do).

For example: You record MoP Lead guitar track, Huber records the drum track, Happy records the bass track, and someone else records the vocals and rhythm, we put them all together and end up with OUR version of MoP... Or something similar.

I think we should do a sort of tribute CD, where we choose one song from each album, cover it with our own style, and end up with a CD of about 9/8 songs.
But this is just my early analysis, I'm very open to ideas, and by no means 'leading' this.

By the way, I am not a [good] vocalist, I'm pretty much just going to shout ...And Justice for All into a microphone... (I have actually sung Seek & Destroy before, so I could do vocals for that), so if you're unsure of your ability, it doesn't matter, the point of this is to give it your own interepretations.

S_U_A 09-03-2006 07:37 PM

^That's a pretty cool concept.

Ah right yeah, that's pretty much how the Nevermore cover was constructed. I'd actually have to work on some of the solos if I were to do one though 'cause I've forgotten everything by now. :( Wouldn't take me long though, and I have the same wah pedal as Kirk. :D:D

Chu 09-03-2006 07:49 PM

I'd actually prefer it if you just improvised

MRDuCran 09-03-2006 07:56 PM

 My improvisation is horrible.

Chu 09-03-2006 08:00 PM

Better then mine :thumb:

MRDuCran 09-03-2006 08:04 PM

When did you hear me play, btw?

Chu 09-03-2006 08:20 PM

I don't think I've ever heard you play, just read what you've said in guitar :p

But it's enough to know you're better then me :p

MRDuCran 09-03-2006 08:24 PM

Oh lol. Well I haven't heard anyone play from this thread either so it could be cool hearing people rip up Blackened solo or something. :)

Joe 09-03-2006 09:44 PM

Oh man it's been awhile since I've been here.

How's everyone doin? Has everyone heard the Other New Song?
Oh lol. Well I haven't heard anyone play from this thread either so it could be cool hearing people rip up Blackened solo or something.
Can't quite... I'm gettin' good at the Leper Messiah and No Remorse solos.

I didn't like it. I did see some vh1 Behind the Music thing on Metallica for the first time the other day. The entire thing is on youtube.com

You have an EMB or Dunlop Rack Mount wah?

Jred250 09-04-2006 07:03 AM

I could go and record drums to any Metallica song right now! I have a mic at the ready and I can play all the songs practically perfect....

I think it would be mint to do a song like

Metallica - 53RD & 3RD

Or Metallica - The new Song!! I know the drums to it..... if anyone knows the guitar ect:?
