Which one?
Have you heard his song? DUDE?
Haha, thanks a ton. It really means a lot. I'm downloading the .wav file thing right now. I'll have to split up the drums, keyboard and bass as they're all on one track, and it may take me a bit of time to work it. I read about how you can play the set with a keyboard: hopefully a MIDI standalone file will do the same thing. That would rock my socks.

Anyone else that cares to listen to my new song can do so.

It's modern rock with a touch of progressive metal influences, I would say. A lot of the instrument parts are catchy but complex.

Yep. All Ibanez JS100. It's been doing an awesome job ever since I got it intonated on Friday. It's played through the POD, of course. :D

Thanks again for the praise. It means a great deal. I really need a band! :(

That would rock. You can send me anything you've got, like a backing track or good drums or something and I can pop it into Garageband and produce it all nice.

I'm working with a couple of cool new riffs in E minor right about now. And I've got this kick-***, almost death-metalish breakdown that I'd love to fit into the middle of a more melodic heavy song. Its time changes are pretty badass. There's a riff in 4/4, which moves into a grinding section switching between 3/8 and 5/8, and then a rather pummeling groove modulating from 4/4 to 6/8 to 4/16. I plan on putting it together and recording maybe by the end of this week.

/plans on making a one man black metal song or two.

Jom 03-29-2005 03:36 PM

Hello, everyone. I see that the contest is starting to come full circle. Nice.

Freezing Moon 03-29-2005 03:38 PM
Thanks a lot, dude! Appreciate it very much. Does it work with Macs?

What was your favorite part of the song? The 6/8 breakdown's probably my favorite part.
Your song is awesome, and you have a mac.

I think I saw that you use garage band? And what drums do you use?

I wish I was good at recording. I've only done like one song, and I suck. :(

ATM 03-29-2005 03:43 PM

Cain, very good work. I agree with Ramsey, use real drums and you will have one badass song on your hands.

I'll be back later, guys.

I do use Garageband. The drums are MIDIs written from my Finale Guitar notation program. It's insanely easy to write drums as a result and I just export the MIDI file.

Crazy Train 03-29-2005 03:49 PM

hey I use Magix Audio Studio 2004 "DeLuxe" and...how do I mix/eq it and add drum tracks. Is there any free drum loop programs?

Kingofdudes 03-29-2005 03:51 PM

Sup people?

Finale Guitar?

I am missing out. /googles.

The fact that you use garageband suddenly makes my song look horrible. :\

What do you record with? I have a m-audio mobile pre USB thing, and I am a complete n00b at it.

I just listened to it, freakin' good job on that dude.

Very melodic and sounds like a progressive hard rock/metal song, two thumbs up. :thumb: :thumb:

I have a guitar cable that I bought at the Apple store, which goes into the mic/in port on the side of my Powerbook, and the guitar runs through an amp modeler called the POD. Excellent quality results. I'm very impressed: I had no idea Garageband would be so versatile and high-quality.

This cable is the secret to my success. It's only 25 bucks. Get it. :thumb:

Your sound quality is way better than mine. How much did it cost you for the cable and POD modeler?

I have to mess with the shitty garage band amp settings, because my USB thing doesn't have any amp settings. I get some pretty crappy tone.

Jom 03-29-2005 04:03 PM

I'm going to put up some new reviews on Sputnik. I'm sure everyone cares, right? :p

Talk to you all later.

Illmatic 03-29-2005 04:04 PM

Unless it's about recording, no one really cares at the moment :-\

Convo in here is boring, so I'm leaving too.

His POD is only 240 but trust me you don't want it

What you want is the POD xt which runs about 300, even he doesn't like the POD he has :p (he'll tell you)

I actually have the money, because I've been saving for an amp or something. How worth it is the POD xt?

Cain: Is the cable a USB thing or what? For only 25 bucks, its something I definitly need.

a POD XT is 320 plus tax, its 400 if you get the fx/metal packs (its rendered useless if you don't get the packs and you intend to play metal)

You don't need that cable if you get a POD, which runs right into your pc with USB

Permanent Solution 03-29-2005 04:20 PM

W00t, starting RMOTM Friday, you all should be excited.

BoboTheRagingHobo 03-29-2005 04:22 PM

Later Jason.

Ramsey stop POD whoring.

Let's talk not about recording eh?

Ah, If I'm would be spending 400 would the POD XT Live be better (as Bobo told me)? Would I have to buy fx/metal packs?

That looks like a better deal to me.

I really want to get into this stuff, because I have nothing better to be doing, and I'd like to make a bunch of my own songs.
