On the Sgt. Pepper cover, they're all apparently crowded around Paul's grave. And on the inside cover, Paul is the only one turned around.

Pop quiz: How did Paul supposedly die?

I believe he supposedly died in a car crash.

drugstore cowboy 07-31-2005 02:26 PM

Yeah. My mom showed me some magazines she kept about the Paul is dead rumours, and I think some about John's death. The one about Paul says he picked up a girl on the side of the road who was hitchhiking, and when she realized who he was, she tackled him, causing him to swerve off the road and crash.

I got it right

That it does.

Seafroggys 07-31-2005 04:07 PM

So I pulled out my mom's LP of Grand Funk's....oh **** I forgot the name already....Closing Home? Its black and had their faces in a line, black and white and their eyes are like cut out for their real eyes.

I never listened to Grand FUnk before, and holy crap I haven't been this alive in a long time. Its absolutly killer!

robo2448 07-31-2005 05:38 PM

A friend of mine is saw a Broadway musical about John Lennon tonight. I think I may see it eventually even though I hate plays.

TheDanRathersProject 07-31-2005 05:45 PM

Yeah it will always be so, partley because most really good bands that come out now don't get a lot of mainstreem atention, like clasic rock bands...who hasnt herd of led Zeppein or the Beastles.....well I actually met someone who's parents didn't let her watch tv, read books, or listin to the radio and had no idea who The Beatles where...

drugstore cowboy 07-31-2005 05:49 PM

A good Beatle movie is Backbeat. It's about their time spent in Hamburg, and centres on the relationships between John and Stu Sutcliffe, and Stu and Astrid. Very interesting.

np: Goin' up to the country - Canned Heat

Best rock songs with a flute.

1. Canned Heat - Goin up to the country
2. Jethro Tull - Cross-eyed Mary
3. Lighthouse - What Gives you the Right
4. Mamas and the Papas - California Dreamin'
5. Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven

edit:
who hasnt herd of led Zeppein or the Beastles
The Beastles combined backing tracks from Beatles songs and lyrics of the Beastie Boys. Most of them suck, but a few tracks come out alright. I don't have them on my computer though.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-31-2005 05:57 PM

"Goin' up to the Country" is awsome.

The Canned Heat bass player (not the original) was trying to hit on my friend's mom. It's true.
Which song is it where John says "Paul is a dead man" when played backwards? I was thinking Fool on the Hill.
It was "I'm So Tired", the little gibberish bit at the end.

I'm So Tired is such an awesome song. It's great to listen to when you're trying to fall asleep.

That's on my list after Spamalot

California Dreamin has the most wicked flute solo-- I will learn it on harmonica one day

The gibberish at the end of I'm So Tierd contains a bit of French if I'm not mistaken

I never knew it had French. Sun King and Across the Universe are the only Beatles songs I know with French.

Actually Sun King was Spanish gibberish, and Across the Universe is Sanskrit (or maybe Hindi), but Michelle is definatly French :thumb:

/Complete language nerd-- I have memorized 3 alphabets that I don't know the language to, teach myself Latin, take Spanish and keep a Ukrainian Phrasebook in my backpack even though it is completely useless

Sun King is Spanish? It always sounded Italian to me.

Ukranian? Cool. Chuck Palaniuk is a Ukranian name. He wrote Fight Club, which I am currently 3/4ths way through.

It's a mix of Spanish, Italian and some other language.

I always read that it was Spanish, and I know some words are definatly Spanish, although Spanish and Italian are so similar, they could be shared

EDIT: It definatly has at least a little Italian:
Cuando para mucho mi amore de felice corazon*
Mundo paparazzi mi amore chica verdi parasol
Questo abrigado tanta mucho que can eat it carousel

Spanish
Italian
*With a Spanish accent, this word has a "th" sound for the z, but this only happens in Spain-- I don't even know if they have a sound like "th" in Italian, but they might

Language nerd :p

I take Latin, which means I don't know shit about how words are supposed to be pronounced because we don't really speak the language.

Err... So this is CR related, what does everyone feel about The Rolling Stones cover of Love in Vain from Let it Bleed? I think it's great.

Dr. Killgreedy 07-31-2005 07:26 PM

yea i think the stones did a great cover of that song "love in vain".

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-31-2005 07:33 PM

I think that version of "Love in Vain" is great.

Well the moment has come. My dad is about to drug test me and this will determane if I go see Paul in November. Wish me luck.

My school dosen't even offer Latin, so my friend and I are teaching ourselves with CD Roms and the like, so we REALLY don't know how to pronounce it
When school was still in, there was a language week, so we made posters that said things like "If Caesar were alive you'd be tied to an oar" and "Estne volumen in toga, an solum tibi libet mi videre?"
All the teachers were really impressed but they had no idea what it said

magicbus 07-31-2005 07:52 PM

The Stones' version of "Love In Vain" is awesome. I really like that one.

barrett420 07-31-2005 08:18 PM
No, but I have been doing shrooms. I have no clue if they show up on tests though.
They can test you for Psilocybe in a urine test but that's not a normal thing for them to test. In a normal drug test they test for heroin, marijuana, pcp, amphetimines (spell), and cocaine. So if you do shrooms don't worry if you get a urine test becouse it most likley will not show up. :D

Schyma, my dad bought me a pipe and I got the dehydrator, it's badass.
Also can you burn me some cd's when I get back couse I got a ton of blanks today.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-31-2005 08:22 PM

Sure. Is that peace pipe you said you were getting? Did you get any peyote?

Your Dad bought you a pipe? For smoking weed? My Dad is really cool about that, but I still don't think he'd do that
