You haven't seen spam 'till you've seen this

I've heard it's great.
I posted in that thread :p NO, I haven't heard it, or heard of it. I like DP only slightly though. I have their Greatest Hits collection, and most of the songs are solid with a few exceptional ones. To me, however, Purp isn't all that special. Standout tracks like Highway star and Child in Time are some of rock's top materials for certain. |
i have bananas. its pretty good. steve morse is a great guitarist but he's no blackmore. it doesnt have the same feel. its still cool though.
|
I never really got into Deep Purple either. To me they're just kind of a "meh" band.
|
if you appreciate good vocals, drums, and guitar they most certainly are not.
|
Deep Purple arent bad, great drummer, great guitarist and great singer and great keyboardist
|
Deep Purple arent bad, great drummer, great guitarist and great singer and great keyboardist
Lots of greats  vivid word choices here. I am in no way taking anything away from DP's fantastic instrumental prowess. All I was trying ot say was, the bands brand of hard rock is not something that appeals to me anymore as my musical tastes have matured. I've sort of moved on. Lord is one of if not the most talented keyboard players in the history of rock n roll, and Blackmore is a guitar virtouso (oddly enough, I think his solo work/ side project's might appeal to me). All members were great and they meshed together as a unit rather well, but it's like that old zeppelin argument where people would say they've got the best guitarist, drummer, etc. I agree, they are not bad, just not my favorite. |

Gettin old I guess. |
Deep Purple are awesome. Don't know about nowadays though, haven't seen any recent stuff, though I heard a new song on the radio that kicked arse
|

I appreciate all those things. But Deep Purple just doesn't really appeal to me that much. However, I'm diggin the Allman Brothers right now.:thumb: |
fair enough. glad you like the allman brothers. im currently going through an allman brothers phase too.
|
freud I've noticed that lately you've been introducing me to most of the new music I hear..
|
well, i'm a giving guy. and wise. humble too.

Has anyone seen The Song Remains the Same? I bought it but I'm only halfway through it
I really wasn't expecting the concert footage to be interspersed with random shots of Robert Plant riding around in the Middle Ages rescuing Damsels in distress |
hahaha robert plant is a veryyyy strange man...extremely talented..but veryy strange...videos i see him making bird noises and grabbing his crotch the whole time...guess when ure that famous ure allowed right?

Although, everyone buys it for the live footage (including myself) |
yeah, you mightve been better off getting the soundtrack. haha.
|
The concert footage isn't even as good as the Zeppelin DVD or HTWWW IMO. :-/

Is it just me or does every ACDC song have all the same chords, the same drumming and definitley that garbage johnson calls vocals?
like seriouisly whats with kids these days(the ones who like classic rock) and they seem to think that ACDC is the best, c'mon now. its time to stop giving angus so much freaking credit, HES CRAP! |
I'm diggin the Allman Brothers right now.
Aren't we all. I got their greatest hits for X-mas. |

for sure.....im actually listenin to them right now:chug:
Is it just me or does every ACDC song have all the same chords, the same drumming and definitley that garbage johnson calls vocals? like seriouisly whats with kids these days(the ones who like classic rock) and they seem to think that ACDC is the best, c'mon now. its time to stop giving angus so much freaking credit, HES CRAP!
i slightly disagree...ya they use pretty much the same chords and what not but i find they are creative with it, and it just sounds cool. And as for angus i tihnk hes overated but hes not crap hes got some decent solos |
good man, I also don't like AC/DC very much, and I think Johnson is a better singer than Bon Scott.
|
..i also disagree with that ...IMO Bon Scott>Brian jonhson

And as for angus i tihnk hes overated but hes not crap hes got some decent solos
in some songs they can be creative and i have listened to Bon Scott-era songs and they are definitely better than Brian Johnson's wailing. im not saying all ACDC's music is crap just the general group. "You Shook Me All Night Long" is a pretty creative song for those chords and the solo works, but the new recruits to classic rock have got to get over the AC/DC "hump" and move on to more well rounded bands such as: Led Zeppelin, The Who, Van Halen, Black Sabbath(yes sabbath is classic rock):) |
Well rounded.... Van Halen
You have got to be kidding me. |
and to PageUnledded, as a fellow Canadian, are you at least a bit pissed-off at the lack of credit given to undoubtably one of the greatest rock bands of all-time----Rush.? I have read a good number of surveys and lists of the so called "greatest" and even in these lists each member of Rush has ranked quite near the top, Alex-one of the best guitarists, Geddy--crazy bass-lines, Neil--Best drummer of the last 25 years, and one of the best writers as well. The only other bands to be this well-rounded are: Led Zeppelin, The Who, and perhaps Cream. I hope that in the future, the public will get past the fact that they're just four canucks.
|
You have got to be kidding me.
aside from sammy hagar and michael anthony van halen is well rounded Eddie Van Halen-perhaps the first true virtuoso Alex Van Halen-Truly amazing drummer top 100 material DLR-not a good writer by any means but still a good vocalist, and he still wrote better stuff than that "lovey" bull-**** Hagar comes up with |
neil is not the best drummer of the last 25 years. maybe ONE of them but not THE best. and there are plenty of bands just as, or more, well rounded than them. yes, king crimson, and emerson, lake, and palmer come to mind.
edit: a few things, the EDIT button is useful. eddie van halen was not the first true virtuoso. that's the kind of thing a 12 year old says. being top 100 drummer material is not that impressive. and i'm not even sure he should be up there. and roth is not really a good vocalist. |
aside from sammy hagar and michael anthony van halen is well rounded
The band can't be well rounded if you leave out 2 of the members.
I hope that in the future, the public will get past the fact that they're just four canucks.
They're three canucks. |

oh for sure i don't listen to them as much as i should but i definetly think they are underrated. They are up there with the likes of zeppelin IMO....but for me zepplein the greatest ever. And lets not forget another great Canadain band the Guess Who...im pretty they're canadain right? |
They're three canucks.
HAHA. i didnt even notice that one. |
they were well-rounded in 1978 before Hagar, when only one member was sub-par, and we are talking about "classic rock", but mostly i agree.
