I want to listen to more Black Sabbath. Do you have a best of or an album to advice to me?

ToRidTheDisease 04-16-2005 08:42 PM

Vol. 4.

Don't get best ofs. If you want a good album to start go Black Sabbath or Master of Reality. If you like them get Vol 4 or Sabotage.

I'd say buy in order:

1. Paranoid
2. Black Sabbath
3. Sabotage

rippa32 04-17-2005 04:54 AM

Dont get paranoid its overrated.

I agree that it's overrated, but still I think the best album to get you into Black Sabbath.

rippa32 04-17-2005 05:09 AM

Yeah you have got a point there. I must admit its the song paranoid that got me interested in Sabbath. Well that and the fact that the name Black Sabbath sounds cool.

Brew 04-17-2005 07:10 AM
How did you get so many?
From Black Sabbath to Never Say Die! (inc. Sold Soul and Greatest Hits) I got them off my Dad.

The Dio + Martin ones I bought myself.

The only Black Sabbath albums that I have on real cd's are Paranoid(1996 Castle Remaster version, mwahaha), TYR and Dehumanizer.

I copied all the other albums from vinyl to cd, so some of them skip a little and theres some nice vinyl sounds in the background

I love those vinyl sounds at the start of the record. Except I hate it when you hear them while the song is playing. btw Are the ones you bought yourself second hand?
Best of - The Best of Black Sabbath

Vinyl sounds are coooool.

Yeh, the ones I've bought myself on vinyl are second hand, but are most likely original pressings.
I want to listen to more Black Sabbath. Do you have a best of or an album to advice to me?
I actually think that the best of black sabbath (even though it doesnt have their best songs) is a pretty good starting point.

shadow_stalker 04-18-2005 11:33 AM
What would people say is the best Martin album?
Headless Corss, i love that album.

best of black sabbath
sabbath bloody sabbath (ozzy)
master of reality (ozzy) (borrowed it from shadow_stalker on friday, its amazing!)
dehumanizer (dio)
headless cross (martin)

Brew 04-18-2005 02:01 PM

I prefer TYR to Headless Cross.

Josh 04-18-2005 02:02 PM

i like TYR as well, but not as much as headless cross. and the whole thing of the 3 songs being linked annoys me a bit, even though its cool.

rippa32 04-18-2005 09:54 PM

Yeah I rekon they should have just combined all three songs and called it the Battle of Tyr, oh well. Have you also noticed how the lyrics overlap on the songs?

BludgeonySteve 04-18-2005 09:57 PM
Dont get paranoid its overrated.
It's not like it's not good. It's just not as good as some others.

rippa32 04-18-2005 10:35 PM

Well with paranoid ive overplayed all the songs. I found I cant overplay anything else from sabbath.

pigonthewing82 04-18-2005 10:48 PM
Well with paranoid ive overplayed all the songs. I found I cant overplay anything else from sabbath.
Eh everybody says they have that problem, but it really doesn't effect me that much. I mean I don't listen to the radio so I don't hear the songs from that album over played so much I guess. I don't mind any of the songs on there, just as I don't mind Stairway To Heaven by Led Zep. Though also like Stairway to Heaven, there is much better stuff from the band then their most mainstream album/song.

scentless.apprentice. 04-19-2005 04:49 AM

is there many good songs on the black sabbath and paranoid albums that arn't on sold our soul....

AND YOU STILL HAVE IT!!!

Iprefer Headless cross over tyr, its heavyer...
Well with paranoid ive overplayed all the songs. I found I cant overplay anything else from sabbath.
