I didn't really like Blood On The Tracks when I listened to it :/

Who knows? Maybe I should try it again.

Lunch 01-01-2006 05:23 PM

Tangled Up In Blue is probably my favorite Dylan song.

I just bought:
ELP - Pictures at an Exhibition
Gentle Giant - Free Hand
King Crimson - Discipline

/Prog'd

BigTrav415 01-01-2006 05:53 PM
Actually, I don't really like any of his stuff after B.O.B.
Hmm, Blonde On Blonde... B.O.B... Bob Dylan... A sign?

Probably not.
Last post in CR was thirty minutes ago

NP: Big River (live) - Grateful Dead

The last of those is seriously awesome. Dunno about the other two.

Lunch 01-01-2006 05:57 PM

Pictures at an Exhibiton is impressive like the other early ELP material. Gentle Giant I haven't listened to yet, but it should be interesting.

Glitterati 01-01-2006 05:57 PM

Does anyone like Roxy Music? They're kinda glam/prog stuff from the '70s. Brian Eno was one of the members.

There early stuff is great, I didn't know that was one of them. ELP are awesome.

Np: Eruption (the ELP song, not Van Halen.)

Lunch 01-01-2006 06:02 PM

The Tarkus Medley is absolutely amazing.

temporary 01-01-2006 06:04 PM
The Tarkus Medley is absolutely amazing.
That it is, that it is. At times I prefer Tarkus to Brain Salad Sugery, but overall I'd say the latter is the best (if only for Karn Evil 9)

Lunch 01-01-2006 06:05 PM

Especially Eruption and Aquatarkus, Palmer has me completely lost on the drumming.

I still need to get Trilogy for their early albums, then I'm thinking about getting Welcome Back My Friends...., the live album.

Trilogy is great, not quite Tarkus quality but its got some great stuff.

Lunch 01-01-2006 06:08 PM

Not much is Tarkus (the song) quality.

I was impressed with their first album too, I got it for Christmas. The Barbarian and the Tank especially.

robo2448 01-01-2006 06:12 PM

Brain Salad Surgery is my favorite ELP album. ELP can get a little boring sometimes, but most of the time I like them a lot. Trilogy is good too.

I'm only familiar with like two songs from that (The Tank and Lucky Man.) Both of them were typical ELP quality though.

PinkFreud 01-01-2006 06:44 PM

live at the atlanta international pop festival was just sent out. enjoy.

Me! I've been looking for a side project that he started after Roxy Music broke up, it was with John Cale and Nico from VU along with Mike Oldfield and some guy from the Soft Machines. They were called June (something), 19(something), I'm sure slsk has it but I really want to own it.
Maybe its June 1, 1979? Or 1972? All the same...
Not a big fan of Brian's more bori-I mean ambient work.
Who was the other really famous guy from Roxy Music, its Something Ferry, Brian Ferry? I dunno I can't remember.

PinkFreud 01-01-2006 07:18 PM

brian ferry. i dont listen to roxy music though. i dont mind eno's ambient stuff, especially with robert fripp.

jpj 01-01-2006 08:45 PM

Someone uploaded a Brian Eno album in the A&I YSI thread back in the day, and it was literally one note for an hour. I still wouldn't mind giving some of his other albums a shot.

I'd like to hear some Roxy Music too. They were recommended to me by RYM.

I have Trilogy, and I would upload it, but my CD drive is broken right now.

Thanks Freud, for the HUGE Allman file.

Lunch 01-01-2006 10:56 PM

Thanks anyways, and I'd probably rather own it anyway. I already downloaded Tarkus and BSS, and I would feel bad having such a weak collection (in terms of actually owning the albums) for a band I like as much as I like ELP.

guitarded27 01-02-2006 12:03 AM

i am new and i have not read all ****ing thousand something pages
i gotta admit. i was introduced to 'rock' music by the likes of blink-182 and green day. and i gotta admit i still listen to them. but god do i love classic rock. i just got into them this year and i cannot get enough.
van halen by far is my absolutely favorite band. it was eruption that made me wanna move past playing poppy-punk songs on my guitar. ain't talkin bout love was the first real rock song i learned how to play.
then it all just exloded. i discovered def leppard. and boom every song on my playlist was made by bands that had formed 20 years before i was born or sumthing.

classic rock is stuff of the gods and nothing these days can compare. :chug:

MBS 01-02-2006 12:14 AM

Congratulations on making the switch, and welcome to the CR thread. Unfortunatly, I don't know much about Def Leppard, but I think Van Halen's debut album is killer.

Any other favorite CR bands?

PinkFreud 01-02-2006 12:30 AM
Thanks Freud, for the HUGE Allman file.
no problem. schyma probably hates me. him and his dial up.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-02-2006 12:42 AM

Yikes! That's one hell of a file! This is going to take days and even then I may not make the 7 day limit. Ahh well....Thanks Freud.

/begins downloading

How many minutes is there anyway?

PinkFreud 01-02-2006 12:49 AM

it's approximately 2 and a half hours according to itunes. wow. i didnt even know it was that long. ha.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-02-2006 12:56 AM

Please tell me it's in mp3.......

PinkFreud 01-02-2006 01:13 AM

hmmm. it is. thank god. gave me a good scare too because it's in the section of my folder that usually houses m4a's. but you got lucky! im listening to it now. vevry good stuff.

robo2448 01-02-2006 10:55 AM

I tried downloading that but it failed 35% through. I'll try again.

I just got Live Cream Vol. 2. It's great so far. Ginger Baker owned on Deserted Cities of the Heart.

np- White Room (live)

/bump

Lunch 01-02-2006 10:56 AM

They mess up at the end of White Room, but still that album is really good. I think I might prefer Volume 1 though.

robo2448 01-02-2006 11:27 AM

Yeah I'm going buy Vol. 1 sometime. I want to own Cream's entire discography. Not too much stuff there so it shouldn't be too challenging. All I need to buy are Vol. 1 and BBC Sessions.

Lunch 01-02-2006 11:28 AM

Yea, I don't own an actual copy of Goodbye but other than that I have it all.

PinkFreud 01-02-2006 11:54 AM

i got a boxed set that has basically everything minus a few tracks from live cream 1 and the bbc sessions but i have the bbc sessions too.

so im a few tracks short of having the full cream discography. :p

Are the BBC Sessions good? The songs are all really short which is disappointing and the sound quality didn't sound great on samples but maybe it's still good. Hopefully I'll find if cheap somewhere.

DeusExMachina 01-02-2006 12:44 PM

I have trouble listening to Cream for extended periods of time. But maybe it's just me.

it's not great. haha. maybe i've just burned out on cream but it doesnt do much for me.

They aren't bad, not as good as the Live Cream albums though. Still worth owning for Cream fans.

robo2448 01-02-2006 01:05 PM

Wow. Steppin' Out from Live Cream Vol. II just completely blows me away. Some of the greatest guitar playing I have ever heard. Just wow.

And I guess I'll keep my eye out for the BBC Sessions but I'm definitely getting Live Cream Vol. I first.

Edit- For a band that was around just over two years, we really talk about Cream a lot. I still love talking about them though.

Lunch 01-02-2006 01:14 PM

Because they did a lot in those two years. And how could we not talk about a band with musicianship of Cream's caliber?

Badmoon 01-02-2006 01:30 PM

I'm bored so I am posting the tracks on the CD I just burnt.

1. The Statler Brothers - Flowers on the Wall
2. Ry Cooder - Jesus on the Mainline
3. Calexico - Across the Wire
4. The Clash - I'm So Bored with the USA
5. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
6. Lee Perry - Clint Eastwood
7. Matisyahu - Got no Water
8. Matisyahu - King without a Crown
9. Max Romeo - I Chase the Devil
10. Neutral Milk Hotel - Communist Daughter
11. Michael Hedges - Pachebel Loose Canon
12. The Pogues - If I Should fall from Grace with God
13. Revels - Comanche
14. Scientist - Dance of the Vampire
15. The Pogues - Fairytale of New York

...I'm moderately proud of it :amaze:

jpj 01-02-2006 01:40 PM

I just got Black Sabbath's s/t and Help! on CD, as well as Brain Salad Surgery and Win, Lose, or Draw on vinyl.
