RAP AND HIP HOP SUCKS, go rock and metal!!!
I hate two things about music.

a) How some people think if you're a "rocker", you have to hate rap. Why not like both?
b) People will say an entire genre sucks after hearing a few crappy examples, i.e. Fiddy Cent

Dimebag Dom 01-01-2006 03:01 AM

Tis true i just hate it

Jacaranda 01-01-2006 03:12 AM
b) People will say an entire genre sucks after hearing a few crappy examples, i.e. Fiddy Cent
No, thats just as bad... just ignore them. I love how they always say like "I'm 13" or whatever as if we are going to be impressed. "Oh my lookey here a 13 year old who likes classic rock, unheard of!"

Seafroggys 01-01-2006 03:16 AM

it seems like we've got the mad rush of christmas kids (kids who've gotten an instrument for christmas posting online on musician forums) recently

Led Zeppelin? pshhh....you don't know good music until you hear Grand Funk Railroad

and even though I don't hate rap as a genre, I've yet to hear one good song (in essence a PC way of saying I don't like it)

Dimebag Dom 01-01-2006 03:17 AM

yeh alrite

Dimebag Dom 01-01-2006 03:19 AM

yeh i like grand funk railroad they arent bad at all

Seafroggys 01-01-2006 03:40 AM

Sin's a Good Man's Brother is such a cool song....

other bands you might want to check out, if you like Zep, are Cream, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, and hell I'll just whore out the Who as well.

Dimebag Dom 01-01-2006 03:56 AM

yeh i like all of them especially cream and deep purple they are up there

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-01-2006 08:06 AM

I just had one hell of a new years! After a year of being ripped off I have finally found some d-lysergic acid diethylamide, I was peeking on it when the year crossed over. The smoke was so thick when it covered the streets you couldn't see 5 feet in front of your face and all the fireworks...very fun tripping setting. :D

About Roy Haper: Yes, I used to talk about him all the time and Stormcock was my favorite Folk album, it just seemed asthough nobody really cared when I brought him up so I eventually just gave up on him as a topic.

Happy New Years.

Ha. It appears that this is the first post of the morning, at noon. A little too much New Years partying last night.

Thanks for The Who. Now all I need is the post-Moon albums for complete discography, but I'm not in a rush to get those.

/has nothing else to contribute

Happy New Years to you to man. And yea, I'm sitting here trying to recover from all that MGD.

Yea, there are a few good songs on them but mostly crap. Although John speaks highly of some early Pete Townshend solo albums, so I might check those out.

robo2448 01-01-2006 11:06 AM

I've seen really good reviews for Entwistle's solo debut, which I'd be really interested in hearing. Probably really hard to find though. I'm pretty sure Daltrey's solo career was awful.

Lunch 01-01-2006 11:08 AM

I picked up the Ox Anthology (a 2-disc John Entwislte compilation), and it's pretty good stuff.

Yeah, I saw that at a record store in Georgia, but my dad rushed me out of the store really fast. Lame parents.

Is it a mix of Who and solo Entwistle stuff?

Lunch 01-01-2006 11:51 AM

It's all Entwislte's own material, although it includes some Who songs like Whiskey Man, Heaven and Hell, the Real Me, and Success Story. They are his own solo versions though, they aren't the actual Who songs.

TheDMV 01-01-2006 12:02 PM

Supposedly Entwhistle had a pretty good carreer, which is believable since he was the only other songwriter in the Who. He was a classic case of a good songwriter stuck in a band with a fantastic one.

MBS 01-01-2006 12:10 PM
He was a classic case of a good songwriter stuck in a band with a fantastic one.
He was a good songwriter, but he was paired next to Pete, who was a legend. It's kind of like George Harrison and Lennon/McCartney.

Krabsworth 01-01-2006 12:16 PM

If anyone has been in the bass forum lately there was a video of Entwistle shredding.

Lunch 01-01-2006 12:36 PM

Yea, thats the video from the recent Tommy/Quadrophenia live release. Amazing stuff.

I'll have to check that out, Entwistle is a god.

I cant wait for "On an Island"

PinkFreud 01-01-2006 01:36 PM

i love entwistle. that was pretty good solo. im disheartened that so many posters in the bass forum didnt know what he was capable of.

Yeah, I'll be counting the days until On and Island.

MidnightRider 01-01-2006 02:03 PM

Could someone post a link to the Entwistle clip? I'm too lazy to go rummaging through the bass forum.

Krabsworth - Thanks a bunch for Wheels of Fire, It's a pretty good album.

PinkFreud 01-01-2006 02:05 PM

it's not rummaging through. its on the second page and its called something like "entwistle typewriter style".

If Not For You is officially my new favorite Dylan song. I can't even describe how awesome it is.

I think one of Robo's favorite George Harrison songs is If Not For You. Heh, heh. The question is, which version do you prefer?

It is an awesome song. I'd say I prefer George's version but both are great. Tough choice. New Morning is an underrated album. Pretty good stuff.

np- Born Under A Bad Sign

Is it just me, or is last.fm not tracking other people's songs too?

I've never heard the Harrison version, so I'll go with Dylan's for now.

I actually didn't know it was a Dylan song 'till now. I really haven't heard enough Dylan. Anyone want to, umm, "borrow" me some?

NP: St. Stephen (live) - Grateful Dead

MBS 01-01-2006 04:04 PM

I'll upload Nashville Skyline today. It's one of my favorite Dylan albums.

jpj 01-01-2006 04:06 PM

Where's my Blue Train! :(

NP: Phil Lesh & Friends-Big River (live)...ah, currently reliving a great show :)

BigTrav415 01-01-2006 04:16 PM

I've just sent out the first song on Closing Of Winterland to everyone who gave their e-mail addresses; if you want to get the whole show, reply, but just know it might take me a while to upload it all.
I'll upload Nashville Skyline today. It's one of my favorite Dylan albums.
It's so short though:(

Can't be more than 25-30 minutes long. Still good though. I love his singing on that, it's so different. Dylan goes country.

I'll upload Blonde On Blonde.

When I click the YSI link, it sends me back to my yahoo mail account, not to the download page, if that makes any sense.

For my link or Nashville Skyline?

magicbus 01-01-2006 04:31 PM

My favorite Dylan albums are tied between "The Times They Are A-Changing", "Bringing It All Back Home", and "The Freewheelin' Bob". That's pretty vague, but I'm sure I'll be able to pick out a favorite after listening to them more. Actually, I don't really like any of his stuff after B.O.B.

What about Blood On The Tracks? That came out in 1975, and I think that's a pretty solid album, especially "Tangled Up In Blue."

I do agree, Freewheelin' is probably my favorite too.
