My favourite was always Kill Em All, it's a lot more raw and in touch with the bay area thrash scene.
|
And Justice For All has always been my favorite. The riffs are amazing, the song structures are more complex then on their other albums and the solos are incredible.
Yeah the structured definately stand out. I love the way the keep going back and forth, repeating riffs, then only playing half of a riff 3 times etc etc, it's great. Noticable tracks for me would be the title track and either Frayed Ends of Sanity or Harvester of Sorrow, I can't remember which. The solos fit the songs so well too, as to opposed to some earlier stuff where it was just a pentationc scale in the same licks over and over and the newer stuff being bluesy. I think he really went all out on this one. I especially like these songs on the Live Sh/t DVD's, the Seattle one being my favourite. |
I love this too. Those songs definately took alot of time to craft. Frayed Ends Of Sanity is definately my favorite song on there, one of my favorites overall as well. The instrumental part in the middle is Metallica's greatest moment in my eyes. |
Ahh Frayed Ends of Sanity, I guess that's the one I was thinking of. It definitely has some crazy parts, I don't think I could play it the last time I tryed, which was actually a long time ago.
|
I haven't listened to the record in quite a while, but from my recollection, Blackened and the title track are two great songs with amazing solos. Harvester of Sorrow has, in my opinion, the best riffs of any Metallica song. Frayed Ends of Sanity is also brilliant, especially the part in the middle. One and Dyers Eve are also powerful. So I'd actually say that most of the songs are standout tracks for me.

Yeah, that's about right, the only song that I don't exceptionally like is Eye Of The Beholder, and partially Shortest Straw (though I do love the solo in that song). |
Its just a great album the musical proggresion is great, imagine if cliff was on it.
|
If Cliff was on it, then we wouldn't have To Live Is To Die.
That's optimism for ya. |
I really like Eye of the Beholder. The chords used in the intro are really cool. The verses and chorus and whatnot aren't amazing but that bit before the solo is really cool too.
It's one of those songs where I know I can actually play it perfectly so it's always fun to play. |
Yeah, I do like that cool solo thing in EOTB, but that's about it.
|
I think I've just grown attatched to all their songs since I got into them and bought all their albums when I was in ultra fanboy mode so nowadays, I still feel the same way. That probably explains why I like Load and Reload so much.
But yeah, Blackened \m/ |
Yeah, after listening to Metallica for the entire 7th grade, I pretty much love every Metallica song. Funny thing is, I rarely rarely ever listen to any Metallica, yet I know everything about every song by heart still.
|
Same here. My Metallica phase was about 2 years ago but I'm still the biggest fan I know and love every song still yet I listen to Children of Bodom, At The Gates, Arsis, Lamb of God etc. Their performance at Download was incredible, shame I couldn't have been closer but I was over the side barrier so I was happy about that.
|
I, in being well past my only-Metallica phase, would rank their early albums like this:
1. RTL 2. KEA 3. AJFA ------------------------- Line between Good and mediocre 4. MOP -------------------------Line between mediocre and meh 5. The Black Album |
I love load, great album. Mt fav album tho? gotta be RTL.
|
KEA is obviously not second. MOP should be wayy higher up.
I learned to intro solo to Fade to Black today. Pretty cool. |
KEA is obviously not second. MOP should be wayy higher up.
For me, it's that way. That's why it showed up that way on MY LIST. :thumb: |
For me, it's that way. That's why it showed up that way on MY LIST. :thumb:
Maybe you should have double checked your list before you replied:thumb: |
What? KEA is not "obviously not second." Maybe to you it's lower, but not for me. Same with MOP. I think it's highly overrated.
But that was my list, so they were ranked in order of my preference. |
mine would go like this:
1. MoP 1. AJFA 2. KEA 3. RTL 4. Black Album |
lol the others don't even make it into your list.
|
Maybe you should have double checked your list before you replied:thumb:
Jeebus, it's his opinion. You can't say it's wrong. |
Thank you.
|
I didn't say his opinion was wrong i said that he was saying to different things at the same time. first on his list it said KEA was at number 2 then he said that he agreed that KEA shouldnt be at number2 i just showed how he got confused
|
I said "that way" meaning the way I had my list, not the way he said it should be.
|
oooooooooooo now i feel like a idiot...
|
lol the others don't even make it into your list.
I thought we were talking about early albums. In that case it'd be different. |
I dno, I don't care for these type of discussions, they always end in arguments because people can't respect others opinions. I sometimes say what I like about an album but it's rare that I rank them in any particular order.
|
ya ur right everyone just gets mad wen ppl talk about which metallica albums better
|
I agree with pate, except for one thing:
1.RTL 2.AJFA 3.KEA |
