You've turned into Chris with that whole "Cream over a band and talk about them non stop for two weeks and then never mention them again"

CommieCanada 10-29-2005 09:57 PM

man i just got back from seeing the spill canvas.

i <3 that band. Thank you Jon for whoring them to me

Mute Print 10-29-2005 10:00 PM

I saw the Spill Canvas a few weeks ago. They were really good but the people around me sucked, so I didn't have that much fun. :(

BridgeToSolace 10-29-2005 10:04 PM
I like pretty much everything.
I'm kind of that way with live music.

A year or two ago at a little band camp I was going to, they had a kind of "assembly" where a drum-and-bass band played. The bassist was probably the best I ever heard in my entire life, and at some points he was hammering on the bass with one hand and doing keyboard chords with the other. It was jaw dropping amazing. I loved it.

I downloaded some stuff by the same guy when I got home later, and I was bored listening to it. Just kind of uninteresting.

Today I went to a family reunion kind of thing. My uncles are all musicians, so they picked up some acoustic guitars and started singing/playing a lot of old songs. I recognized some of the songs. I'd listened to them in my dads car at some point. They were all boring and crappy songs, because I hate old stuff.

With my uncles playing it live though, and my whole family singing along, it was a lot of fun. Everything sounded really cool, and my uncle did some pretty sweet solos.

(Just thought I'd give two examples)

Did they go acoustic or electric?

B 10-29-2005 10:08 PM

I find live music to be a lot more exciting. Just like you said, some things are awesome live, and you listen to it after and it sucks. The setting really changes everything.

I've found this to be thw case with a couple bands I saw recently. One was I Am The Avalanche, and the other was the Epoxies. I don't really like either on CD, but both are really good live.

Tjebby 10-29-2005 10:11 PM

Live music is either really good or really bad. FSF and Days Away were unintresting and boring when I saw them, but Mewithoutyou was superb(differnent shows btw). And like, live music is sweet because half is improv and technique and stuff, whereas in the studio, you just go in and record what you wrote. You don't really play for the crowd, or go off their energy like you can live.

electric, but they used a lot of clean guitar. they put on a really good show and the venue was really intimate so there was a lot of energy

I enjoy what I've heard from IATA but I don't think I've even listened to the whole cd yet.

Eh, I didn't like it at first, but their live show was actually enough to make me enjoy it.

The Epoxies are just good live. I still don't think I really like them much on CD.

It's great, means no hassle for me. I did however change my PC time last night, and when I woke up, it had been changed automatically another hour back, so I was all "....", but I eventually worked it out.

Haha, cool.

I had a party a few weeks ago. It wasn't supposed to be a party, just a "social gathering" of about 5 people. Turns out 20+ people came, therefore more alcohol. I got wrecked, and passed out for a few hours :(

It's not a good idea to get wrecked at your own party.

Untitled 10-30-2005 07:03 AM

We call partys social gatherings too ;)

chumpradio 10-30-2005 07:05 AM

I would much rather have a "social gathering" of about 5-10 people than a proper party. "Social gatherings" tend to be a lot more fun for me.

Untitled 10-30-2005 07:06 AM

Partys i just argue with everyone
Social gatherings i argue

If you regret it, either apologise like a man, or claim that you were pissed off your face. Or that a friend sent the message from your phone. All are manly ways of getting out of problems.
