Your list sucks! Keith Richards is like number 1 for sure :p
EDIT: Oh, its not your list.

Why'd he got and make a thread about you?

JonG 12-31-2005 02:06 AM

Because I said his threads that he makes suck.

I didn't make that list fool.

PinkFreud 12-31-2005 02:12 AM

i made one in the bass forum and it sank with like 4 replies.

note to self: dont make threads on obscure jazz/fusion bassists.

Glitterati 12-31-2005 02:14 AM

You know who's really awesome? James Brown.

Leper 12-31-2005 02:16 AM

I think I've made 4 threads..two of them did fairly well as I recall.

That is actualy what he said and it just makes me want to slice my right arm off just to get a copy. If anybody has this I'd amazingly thrilled if you'd upload it. :)

If you do have it what are your thoughts on it?

Edit:
For some reason I have an urge to hear Schyma's opinion on Springsteen. He always finds new and exciting ways to say that he hates someone (assuming he hates him).
Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to hear.

My opinion on Springsteen remains unclear at the moment. I don't believe I've heard enough to really judge him as a whole yet.

robo2448 12-31-2005 10:16 AM

I love Bruce Springsteen. Med, me, and I think Jac are the huge Springsteen fans around here. Never knew Illmatic was a fan, good news. Everyone else here seems to really despise him though. In general, most people seem to love or hate him, not many in the middle.

Illmatic, I just noticed your usertitle, could you upload some Otis Redding? I've heard a few songs that I really like and I need to hear some more.

I've made a few threads in the sports forum. Most of them suck but my brilliant MLB offseason thread has gotten a bunch of replies. I've never attempted to make a thread in R/M.

ScotJay 12-31-2005 10:19 AM

Do you have:

'I Love You More Than Words Can Say'
'(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay'

Both are by Otis Redding, i'll upload them for you if you don't already have them.

magicbus 12-31-2005 11:49 AM

PinkFreud 12-31-2005 11:55 AM

Thank ye :)
edit: anyone else like roy harper? he's really good.
A long time ago Schyma use to talk about him all the time than just stopped all the sudden.

JonG 12-31-2005 12:07 PM

Last night, I was flippin' through channels and I saw Robert Randolph on ABC Family. I was like WTF.

Apparently it was a music video for "Going In The Right Direction".

It just struck me as odd.

np: Tourniquet - Drawn and Quartered

Good song.

n00bguitarist 12-31-2005 12:12 PM

I love classic rock, it's basically the only music I listen to. I listen to some 80s and early 90s rock (Guns 'N' Roses, Violent Femmes) but mostly classic rock. My favorite band is Pink Floyd. I listen to them almost non-stop. I also like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, Joe Walsh, Black Sabbath, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, and alot more.

I'm 15 years old, btw.

JonG 12-31-2005 12:16 PM

Heh, I like that one popular Violent Femmes song, "Blister In The Sun".

jpj 12-31-2005 12:18 PM

I have The Violent Femmes s/t (the album that song is on) it's really good. Some great bass playing.

n00bguitarist 12-31-2005 12:19 PM
Heh, I like that one popular Violent Femmes song, "Blister In The Sun".
I only really like two songs by them: "Blister In The Sun" and "American Music". I'll listen to their other stuff too but I don't care for it much.

PinkFreud 12-31-2005 12:21 PM

gimme the car, add it up, and kiss off are all great. thats such a cool album.

Firecracker 12-31-2005 12:28 PM

What is classified as classic rock, because i'm confused.
And i am convinced i like it, but i don't know.

Broken Arrow 12-31-2005 12:28 PM

Alright I sent out the Otis.

I've never heard of the Violent Femmes.

jpj 12-31-2005 12:30 PM
Alright I sent out the Otis.

They're not classic rock really, post-punk.
What is classified as classic rock, because i'm confused.

Rock music from around maybe 65'ish to the late 70's/early 80's. That's how I see it anyway.

Badmoon 12-31-2005 12:33 PM
I have The Violent Femmes s/t (the album that song is on) it's really good. Some great bass playing.
Yea, the bass is good, but I only like one song on that album -- "Blister in the Sun" of course.

jpj 12-31-2005 12:34 PM

Yea, Blister in the Sun is great. Bass is catchy as hell through the whole album, but that song especially.

n00bguitarist 12-31-2005 12:34 PM

I'd say from the time of Presley to the early 80s was classic rock. However, some classic rock bands were playing into the mid 90s, Pink Floyd being one of them, with their last studio album (The Division Bell) produced in '94.

JonG 12-31-2005 12:35 PM

I consider to be "Rock 'N Roll". He was mainly known for that genre. He was a little too early for Classic Rock.

Firecracker 12-31-2005 12:36 PM

Right on. Cheers.
I'm liking more late 80s/early 90s

JonG 12-31-2005 12:38 PM

I've always been a fan of about '65 till '75 or so.

:p

My favorite albums have been in that time. Most of them atleast.

jpj 12-31-2005 12:40 PM

Yea, it was around that time that the most good bands were coming out and they were producing their best music, but of course many bands continued well after that period.

Jacaranda 12-31-2005 12:41 PM

Presley wasn't classic rock, he did not play rock n' roll, now Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley are different storys from the 50's. And Pink Floyds later work isn't classic rock just like Voodoo Lounge isn't classic rock from the Stones, its really a time period. I'd say to the mid-50's to late 70's is classic rock.

Badmoon 12-31-2005 12:41 PM

Anyone else get that Lee Scratch Perry boxset from the Reggae mailing list?

Great compilation

jpj 12-31-2005 12:43 PM
he did not play rock n' roll
Um, than what did he play?

Badmoon 12-31-2005 12:45 PM

Yea, most will claim that he invented Rock 'n' Roll; combined Country and Blues, etc.

jpj 12-31-2005 12:46 PM

Country + Blues + hormones and gyrating hips = Rock'n'Roll \m/

n00bguitarist 12-31-2005 12:48 PM

I know, I never said that their later stuff was classic, I was saying many classic rock bands played well after the classic rock era had ended.

Firecracker 12-31-2005 12:48 PM

I bought my mum a rhythm and blues cd for christmas, i love that type of music, the rawness of the singing.

Jacaranda 12-31-2005 12:49 PM
Um, than what did he play?
I would consider it more pop, maybe Pop Rock, but back in the days I suppose he was Rock. But I've never really respected Elvis because most of his songs (To my knowing) were written by other people and given to him because of his imagine.
I know, I never said that their later stuff was classic, I was saying many classic rock bands played well after the classic rock era had ended.
Ah, my bad. My excuse is I just woke up.
