I haven't seen them yet. It's the headlining bands that were at DL apparantly. Trivium, Stone Sour are also on it too I think which doesn't make sense 'cause they didn't headline, and GnR and Tool aren't on it. Stupid Kerrang people.

MRDuCran 07-15-2006 04:08 PM

Argh they spelt Kirk's name wrong.

Kirk Hammet

When will they learn!!

Hah, congratulations.

highwaysalmon 07-16-2006 08:48 PM

wow, just watched all Some Kind of Monster with Metallica commentary. Quite a bit of neat stuff that they talk about.

BTW. I think James should come out with some sig 7 string explorer or something. Well maybe not an explorer.

Yeah SKOM was pretty interesting. I hate how people completely disregard the movie and go "rawr rawrar arw metallica such wusses, raerw rawr." I sat down and forced my parents to watch it. They dont even LIKE Metallica and even they thought it was interesting and enjoyed it.

7 string explorer.

I never thought of that ever.

But anyway, Hetfield wouldn't be able to release a signature explorer, since he doesnt like the new EX shape. The only way he gets those EXP's still is he buys them directly from Japan, custom shop.:thumb:

The only official Hetfield explorers are the ESP EXP shape before the lawsuit happened.

just got the unnamed feeling EP yesterday at tower records in boston while i was up there for a 3 day stay but havnt gotten a listen since i just got back home tonight

Jev 07-17-2006 03:33 AM

Listening back to the Unnamed feeling, those live songs sound pretty weak.

But Hetfield's lyrics on RTL make up for it.

Chu 07-17-2006 03:46 AM

:p That be some MAAAAD improv.

Jev 07-17-2006 09:07 AM

He did it at the gig I went to, After watching the bootleg I have of it.

Maybe he forgets on purpose.

victim of changes 07-17-2006 03:31 PM

yea it really sux arent those the same performances that are featured on the Some Kind of Monster EP?

Chu 07-17-2006 03:32 PM

Fair enough, one of their most requested songs I'd say. Have to make it interesting after 25 years :p

INNOCENCE TORN FROM ME WITHOUT YOUR SHELTER!
Dyers Eve is most def my fav. Metallica song.

Heavy Metal Kid, you're going to Slayer this Thursday right? I was wondering if you'd like to meet up there.. That may seem odd. But yeah, just to say hi or what not. That is, if you're going...

Stormrider 07-17-2006 10:38 PM

Dyers Eve is great. Not my favorite Metallica song though.

Yes, I'm going and it would be nice to meet there, the only problem is where. It wouldn't be hard to recognize me, I'm 6' 2''(probably the only mexican with that hight) and I will be wearing a South of Heaven shirt. There's a pic of me in the R&M album thread.

Bazarov 07-17-2006 11:07 PM

Well, I'll most likely be wearing my leather jacket... um yeah, there's a picture of me in the photoalbum as well, I guess I'll just keep an eye out for ya.

heavy metal kid 07-17-2006 11:09 PM

Which one are you, the guy with a cap or the long haired one?

Nostalgia 07-17-2006 11:12 PM

Wow, Barbie, I didn't know you batted for the other team.

Bazarov 07-17-2006 11:20 PM

The long haired one...

Oh crap, on the topic of Metallica, I found my Ride the Lightning CD today in my garage. So happy.

um... if you're comfortable.. here's my email. Dervater100@cox.net and I guess I can email you my phone number or something.. if you have a cellphone, that way I can just tell you where I'm at.... or where you're at.

And Austin, when I go up to Washinton, I'm going to slap the hell outta you, then have a nice cup of Seattle's fine brewed coffee.

heavy metal kid 07-17-2006 11:22 PM

I haven't listened to RTL in months, in fact a haven't listened to a full Metallica album in months.

Lionheart1827 07-17-2006 11:23 PM

Ahh RTL, my favorite Metallica album.:thumb:

Such a joy to play the songs on guitar as well.

Definately agree with this post.

I'd like to get the intro to FFWF down properly soon, but I'm struggling tbh

It took me a long while because it has a very odd timing to it. I think I remember reading somewhere that they said its "really hard to follow along because of the timing of end of the verse riffs" or something.

Ever try that mid section riff in Frayed Ends of Sanity on AJFA? It's such a pain, I can never get that down.

If you're unsure what im talking about its at 4:04. The way he kinda catches the gallops while switching strings, its so odd.

So crazy.

Chu 07-18-2006 04:19 AM

Well, I've only briefly gazed at the song ...AJFA and Blackened, never tried to play them though...

I really like galloping triplets, like Battery.
I spent so long trying to get them, I can get them fine these days (I don't know if I would say 100% accurate, but high 70s at least).

Jev 07-18-2006 06:11 AM

Man, the main riff of blackened always gets me :p

metallicaman8 07-18-2006 07:55 AM

I've been having some trouble with the second solo in MOP...so, I made my own tab for it. It's sounds about as good as the version in the tabs and is much easier to play.

highwaysalmon 07-18-2006 11:18 AM

Yeah the MOP solo is a b*tch, i had problems with the beginning part at frist. I got 90% of it down pat now, havent played it in a while though, I could never get the part wheres its like..

e|-17-16-14-14-19-17-14-14-17-16-14-14-19-17-14-14-|

near the end. Just need to practice it more i guess. Lately I've been working a lot on the JITF solo, anyone here got that one down?

Jev 07-18-2006 01:04 PM

That's easy.

I make up most of it anyway.
It took me a long while because it has a very odd timing to it. I think I remember reading somewhere that they said its "really hard to follow along because of the timing of end of the verse riffs" or something.
I could never get the timing of that right either. That whole song was annoying to try and play.
Man, the main riff of blackened always gets me. :p
Same here, it's the end bar that I don't know. I've never bothered to slow it down and learn it properly.
near the end. Just need to practice it more i guess. Lately I've been working a lot on the JITF solo, anyone here got that one down?
I could probably do that if I learnt it, but I usually sight read it when I play through it so I have to stop to turn pages and there's parts with weird rhythms and what not.

pep 07-18-2006 06:11 PM
That's easy.

Yeah, i do the same, but i leave some of the best parts of it. I do that on every solo i know. Im way too lazy to sit down and figure a whole solo.

MRDuCran 07-18-2006 08:08 PM

Use tabs then, it's much quicker and easier.
