*Controversial statement alert!* I'd put Pagan Altar on a par with Witchfinder General!
I respect that, but disagree. |
Neurosis - The Eye of every storm :p haha
One of my favourite post sludgy whatever metal albums. Probably would put it in that thread but whatever. It's my second favourite Neurosis right now, but it's probably tied with Through Silver in Blood overall. I just love how contrasted it is to their really heavy stuff. |
Well just to be awkward 'Lords of Hypocrisy' is my favourite!
*Controversial statement alert!* I'd put Pagan Altar on a par with Witchfinder General!
I love Pagan Altar, but I listened to Witchfinder General once and never really got them. I'll put that on my to do list. NP: Reverend Bizarre - Strange Horizon |
yesterday i bought
Om - Pilgrimage Neurosis - The Eye of every storm digging both of what I've heard so far had Om on before i went to sleep, was in my own little world for the first track and then a few minutes into the second track i almost farted a load out when it went super fuzzy loud!! :p haha
 Awesome. I yet have to hear the new Om album. I'm expecting a lot. |

Baroness is pretty cool, also a band called Year of No Light from France is great also.
|
Noothgrush, anyone?
|
Toothbrush?
|
Funny, but no. NOOTHGRUSH.
|
I've got an album of theirs, its pretty solid.
|
Noothgrush. Worst name ever.
|
Hell yes.
|
Can we go a page in any sludge/doom metal thread without you mentioning Noothgrush?
|
Kage, would you be able to upload the Sons of Otis split?
|
Yeah, sure thing.
|
Thanks man.

Conference of the Birds is just above it. I like the artwork too. I ordered/recieved that album about a month ago. |
Seeing them live was immense.
Especially because right before they came on I went to go smoke a couple bowls :D |
Dang, that sounds amazing. Hell, the sound guy played their new album on the system before Boris came on and that was immense enough!
|
Damn you! I'm so jealous of you for seeing them live. What kills me even more is that they even came to Chicago. But of course... they played at a 21+ venue. Which, sadly, is something that a lot of bands are doing nowadays.
|
I wanted to buy Holy Mountain on vinyl :-x
The bass tone live was ridiculous. My ears were ringing so bad for 3 days. |
I think I would poo my pants with Om's live bass sound.
|
The best part was the drunk metalhead who was trying to head bang but kept wobbling and almost falling over.
|
I'm just now getting into this type of music.
A friend lent me the following; Electric Wizard - Dopethrone Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Can’t remember which album. Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley Sleep - Holy Mountain and Dopesmoker I already listened to Neurosis and ISIS although the latter I’m not really sure falls into the category even though it’s great to get stoned to. :thumb: |
Nice list, you're off to a great start except that Godspeed You Black Emperor doesn't really fit with this.
|
Dopethrone is also a good start.
|
My friend Ben ruined Kyuss for me completely.
|
How?
|
How so? Please tell.
EDIT: ****!! |
He just played non-stop Kyuss for 8 hours every day at work.
It got a little better when I showed him Pandora, but of course the first thing he did was make a Kyuss radio station. |
The Godspeed You! was just in with the mix, which is why I assumed it might fit into the genre. Is it what would be more classified as the post-rock, or post-metal (I'm not that up to date on genre names)?
Oh! I almost forgot Monster Magnet in that list, he let me borrow Monolithic Baby! too. Which I've not listened to as much as the others, I'm feeling Sleep and Electric Wizard more. What are some other bands you guys suggest I should check out? |
Om
Nadja Back When Men In Search of the Perfect Weapon Fistula Neurosis Isis Cathedral Pagan Altar Boris |

No. |
ROFL ATM for a split second I could swear I saw Finntroll in that list.
|
I'm one of the few on MX who likes Finntroll :P

:hi5: I'm ashamed but yes... |
I'm not ashamed, they are fun to listen to once in awhile.
|
I'm going to have to say that Sleep’s Holy Mountain was much more preferable than Dopesmoker. The hour and few odd minutes song started droning on, with no breaks for the performers or listeners. I'd have to say though, it'd be pretty awesome to see and hear live.
