Not bad. It's different enough that I no longer feel the shame of having the same avatar as someone.

DeusExMachina 12-07-2005 04:02 PM

There's a new Beatles biography out, and a John Lennon biography out. I want to pick them up.

MBS 12-07-2005 06:04 PM

I told my friend about that biography, since he needed to read one for english. He picked up a biography of Apple instead and thought it was the Beatles because it had the Beatles on the cover.

Broken Arrow 12-07-2005 06:22 PM

I saw a John Lennon biography by Cynthia Lennon at Costco. I'm not sure if its new or not.

I'm getting a Lennon biogragphy for Christmas though.

blue3 12-07-2005 06:27 PM

I think Cynthia Lennon wrote more than one book about John. I've read 'A Twist of Lennon' by her. It was alright.

Magical_Mystery_Tour 12-07-2005 06:30 PM

Tommorowis the big day, eh? My local classic rock station is playing 24 hours of Lennon, so it should be pretty sweet.

Jacaranda 12-07-2005 06:35 PM

Heh, I went out and bought a shirt from JC Penny's just for tomorrow. It's horribly ugly but I don't care, it has John in New York picture on it with Imagine lyric's on the back.

DeusExMachina 12-07-2005 07:13 PM

That's awesome. I want to get a cool Harrison shirt, like with a picture of him playing the sitar or something.

BludgeonySteve 12-07-2005 07:28 PM
Heh, I went out and bought a shirt from JC Penny's just for tomorrow. It's horribly ugly but I don't care, it has John in New York picture on it with Imagine lyric's on the back.
Those are the kinds of shirts that i'd kill someone to steal them.

Where do you live?

blue3 12-07-2005 08:32 PM
That's awesome. I want to get a cool Harrison shirt, like with a picture of him playing the sitar or something.
That'd be cool. But is there even a Harrison shirt like that that exists.. I have transfer paper, so I guess I can always make my own Harrison shirt.

I'm planning to wear my Lennon band shirt all day tomorrow, even at this Christmas concert where everyone has to wear something 'nice'/formal.

Krabsworth 12-07-2005 09:03 PM

Definately wearing my Beatles shirt tomorrow.

Magical_Mystery_Tour 12-07-2005 09:36 PM

I'm going to wear my brown Let It Be shirt tommorow. It's my fav. Beatle shirt.

Lunch 12-07-2005 09:37 PM

I'm doing a paper/presentation on the Charles Manson and the Family murder trials, and that is some interesting stuff. I got to talk about the Beatles, which was my main reason for picking that topic.

Seafroggys 12-07-2005 09:40 PM

Shirts are overrated. Hell, I don't even think my only Lennon shirt will be washed for tomorrow...oh well... :(

Jacaranda 12-07-2005 10:13 PM

So I was talking to a freshman in my choir class who alway's wears Beatles, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin shirt's and I asked him to name 3 Beatle's songs and he couldn't, but I'm not the mean type so I am bringing him all of their CD's! I hope he is prepared to be ear fucked.

blue3 12-07-2005 10:16 PM

Yeah, there's a lot of people in my school like that. But 3 songs? I thought everyone knew at least 3 songs by the Beatles..

Jacaranda 12-07-2005 10:26 PM
Yeah, there's a lot of people in my school like that. But 3 songs? I thought everyone knew at least 3 songs by the Beatles..
Him: "Let It Be.... umm... Yellow Something?... er... YOU NAME THREE SONG'S."

blue3 12-07-2005 11:09 PM

-=Led_Hed=- 12-07-2005 11:45 PM

Leper 12-08-2005 12:38 AM

He couldn't name 3 Beatles songs??? Did he just think the shirt looked cool or what?

W.M.A 12-08-2005 01:14 AM

probably just likes the image/rebellion thingy

Leper 12-08-2005 01:33 AM

He should kick his own ass for being owned like that.

Magical_Mystery_Tour 12-08-2005 06:46 PM

Today is the day and I would like to say a little on John Lennon to commemerate his soul.

Born on October 9th, 1940, John grew up in an englsih town called Liverpool. Having had both parents abandon him, he lived with his Aunt Mimi. It was a tough life for John, but he lived through it. He stared his path to the greatest musical influence of all time when he picked up a banjo.

He instanly became obsessed with the banho, and eventually became a Guiatrist. He started a band called "The Quarry Men," and would play around town. At one of these gigs, his friend Ivan introduced him to another friend of his, a kid by the name of Paul McCartney. They instanly hit it off and soon Paul joined the band. He rode with this kid on the bus who played guitar, and asked him to join them. His Name was George Harrison.

Now all they needed was a drummer. They were tough to come by in Liverpool, but one guy fit the bill. His name was pete best, and he had the one thing that mattered. His own Drum set. So tehy formed, and they started to play gigs around town.

One of these gigs was at a place called "The Cavern, and a music store owner had come by to watch them, Brian Epstien. He was seduced by what he heard, and started to look around for a producer to produce them.

After several refusals, he came across a producer name George Martin, and He agreed to produce them. Brian was estacic, and told the boys right away. There was a condition, he told them. They needed a new drummer, Pete wasn't cutting it. A man name Richard Starkey fit the bill, but he was already in a band called "Rory and the Hurricanes." They saked him if he would join, adn he agreed. And so the path to stardom began. They had widespread popularity all over the Continent, and soon to be all over the world.

The beatles had many succesfull albums (sorry I skipped over the albums but this is a tribute to John, and I want to do a bit on his life after The Beatles and I don't want to take up 2 pages). In 67/68, he met a woman called Yoko One. He was instanly fell in love. It was akward, and they spent alot of time away in his house. Eventually he brought her to the recording sesions. The rest of the band got fed up (once again sorry about skipping stuff) and the band went there seperate ways.

John did some solo albums, and things were going well for him. He had a couple #1's, and enjoyed making music. He then decieded to take some time off making music, and live with Yoko. After a couple years, he decided to come out and make another album.

It was December 8th, 7:50. He walked out of his apartment, and out of the Shadows jumped a man. He shot John in the back. The Shots would sound around the world. He died that day at 8:15, Dead on Arivvial.

Trully a hero of our time, taken from us to soon. John Lennon Rest in piece.

Sorry, I know its a bit long and I cut some stuff out, but It's John, and I could have made it a lot longer.

John We Honour You.

MBS 12-08-2005 07:09 PM

You forgot to mention the guy got his autograph before he shot him. The last Lennon autograph ever. :(

robo2448 12-08-2005 07:21 PM

Actually John was shot at 10:50, died at 11:15. Well that's eastern time, I'm not sure if you live in a different time zone.

I wish my parents were cool and would let me go into NYC and go to Strawberry Fields this afternoon. I've just been watching the news and listening to John all day. I wish I was one of the thousands of people at Strawberry Fields. People traveled from fucking Scotland and my parents wouldn't let me take a 45 minute train ride to NYC to be there. I'll try to go tomorrow or after the weekend to make up for it though. It's just such an unbelievable tragedy that he died. I wore my Lennon shirt today.

Magical_Mystery_Tour 12-08-2005 07:41 PM

As I said, I probaly left out some stuff out, like the autograph, and I live in Pacific time, so it was 7:50 here. I still thought I did a half decne job on that bio. I didn't want to make it to long or no one would read it.

m30wc0w 12-08-2005 07:44 PM

Personally I like Abbey Road the most. But all I could buy was a Sgt Peppers shirt. Not dissing Sgt Peppers. That was an awesome album too :)

DeusExMachina 12-08-2005 07:50 PM

Wore my Abbey Road shirt today. Sad day. :(

RIP John.

Magical_Mystery_Tour 12-08-2005 08:38 PM

Slow night. I figured that this day among all else would have people posting. Maybe you are all to busy mourning John to post.

robo2448 12-08-2005 09:30 PM

Anyone else agree that Watching The Wheels is just about the greatest song ever?

Magical_Mystery_Tour 12-08-2005 09:43 PM

Abbey Road is my favorite also

RIP John

favortie beatles album? Thats such a hard question. Id have to say Sgt Peppers or Magical Mystery Tour. Although I never do admit this, I think the White Album is very overated.

blue3 12-08-2005 10:01 PM
Slow night. I figured that this day among all else would have people posting. Maybe you are all to busy mourning John to post.
Maybe..

Watching the Wheels is an awesome song.

Magical_Mystery_Tour 12-08-2005 10:17 PM

# 9 dream is my fav John Solo song.

blue3 12-08-2005 10:53 PM

I like that song too.

This kid thought I was wearing a Harry Potter shirt today when the shirt said LENNON in big letters. What the hell.. Lennon doesn't look like Harry Potter, at all.

Seafroggys 12-08-2005 11:03 PM

i haven't gone on my lennon song binch yet, probably start as soon as I get offline. Definitally play stuff like Day in the Life, Across the Universe, In My Life, How (best underrated Lennon song), GImme Some Truth, and of course end with the songs to end all songs, Imagine.

That song alone made me want to becoming a rock star, and for that, I give my eternal gratitude to you John, wherever you are :)
