Direct Input (or maybe it's injection, that's what the picture says), ever heard of a DI box? people use them for Pa's and stuff sometimes, instead of a moniter(sp?). In my case its just running the line straight into the comp like Jamie Dunce, since I don't have the $$ or a use for a real DI box, and if I had a DI box, it'd probably blow the soundcard.....

AllWrong 09-05-2004 10:15 AM

Oh right, well I dunno why it's sound crap then, they've always worked well on my computer, while we're on the topic of recording does anyone know any decent free recording software that, and heres the annoying bit, will run on a Mac running on the classic operating system MacOS 8.6?

AllWrong 09-05-2004 10:17 AM

And no i cant say I've heard of a DI box, its probably just me being ignorant though.

PaulSimonon 09-05-2004 10:23 AM

It's sounding okay now...... just not good.....

Foxfire 09-05-2004 06:33 PM

Whee just got "The Best of Victor Wooten." Putting it into GP for the songs that I don't know how they sound.

Crapdragoon 09-05-2004 07:08 PM

A little pointless but kinda funny fact:
The word jazz was originally spelled Jass. But pranksters would remove the J at shows, so it was changed to jazz.
Oh yeah this was in the late 20's i think ( i read it in a book about jazz history , but dont remember exact date)

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-05-2004 09:17 PM

LightRaven 09-05-2004 09:42 PM

Alright, maybe one of you guys can help me with my computer.

Whenever I click on a link, regardless of whether it is a popup, or opens a new window... it will not load. If it is a new window that is opened, I can click stop and then refresh and it will load. If it is a popup... there is nothing I can do.. I will never see what was supposed to be in that window....ever.

This started a day or two ago when my dumbass was cracking some software, and I came upon a virus or two on my computer. Got rid of them.. now I have this problem.

So far I have:
Checked my internet settings
Turned off my popup blocker to see if it would work without it (no)
Have scanned for viruses (found a trojan)
Have downloaded PC Doctor, and fixed all bugs in computer
Have downloaded Spyware Doctor and gotten rid of all ad, spy, malware and bad cookies (thank god for serial gens)
Have run scan disk
Have run Disk Sweeper
Have run Disk Fixer
Have run system diagnostics
Have defraged
Have cleaned out all temp, web cache, etc.
Have clean up my registry
Have defraged my registry
Have tried updating windows and ie (don't need it)
.... I'm sure there is more

Basically.. my computer should be running like a kitten... and it is and does.. except for this IE problem.

And it's weird.. when the new window opens... you know the little icon that appears in your bottom tray? The blank page with the E on it? When a new window opens/pop up... it is a blue page with a large E... as if.. I'm messing with my html editor.. or trying to access a page offline...

HELP PLEASE!

Hmm... I've had problems similiar to that when I used IE, I usually ended up deleting some .dll files and errors would pop up, but that doesn' seem to be happening. That last part sounds...really, really strange. I'd suggest switching to Mozilla Firefox, so you don't even have to deal with pop ups in the first place.

LightRaven 09-05-2004 09:46 PM

I would prefer to keep IE... for some reason... perhaps I don't feel like having to learn a new browser? I dunno...

LR

Tryxx 09-05-2004 09:50 PM

Firefox is pretty simple, nothing new you have to learn or anything. It just blocks all the pop-ups for you and a bunch of other handy features for free. IE in the end just seems spam oriented, and this keeps you away from lots of crap. I'm an avid supporter.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 09-05-2004 09:52 PM

erase the hardrive and reinstall the OS :p

Hmm i had some problems like that, but they were relatesd to spyware/viruses. maby you accidentaly turned on some setting? anyway i use netscape/mozilla now. anyway.

Tryxx 09-05-2004 09:56 PM

Firefox is good, the pop up blocker and all the neat little plugins... I like being able to do absolutely anything with my mouse. Mouse Gestures is great...

EDIT: I'm trying, I'm a bit new to this whole social posting experience.

e p 09-05-2004 09:59 PM

I'm aware of the google toolbar that blocks pop ups as well as the Windows Update v.2.0 Pack that also has a built in pop up blocker as well as other features.

Crapdragoon 09-05-2004 10:16 PM

firefox is teh suckyness.

LightRaven 09-05-2004 10:38 PM

Hello... I don't want to change my browser right now... I want to fix the problem.. not cover it up.

LR

Tryxx 09-05-2004 10:42 PM

Sorry for deturing away from that. Check your cookies and other things, I'd try clearing my cache folder and see if that helps. I'm not speaking with much credit here, but it couldn't hurt. Like I said before, I think my problem happened from deleting a .dll file. I'd run a check with scandisk or the defrag on the the TEMP folder, that's where most of my problems occur.

don't use firefox, use opera. www.opera.com it's so much better and you can control the popups, i.e. if you want one to open, it will (such as poll results). but others get blocked. and IE is too simple and codes are based around IE only. so opera and firefox, being the new browsers, haven't had code written for them yet. opera is also really easy to use and you can have multiple windows in the same window, so less memory is used. </opera ad>

SporKsBaSSisT 09-06-2004 12:01 AM

LR: reinstall internet explorer.

crap: yamaha = sex. my friend has that myung signature... its so awesome.

Firefox can have multiple tabs in one window as well.

The problem with both Opera and Firefox is that there are many media types that are still not supported in them. Opera more-so than firefox.

I primarily use either IE or Firefox, depending on what I need to do.

You could always re-install IE. Or re-install windows.. Just make sure you have backups and CD-keys for everything. Burn all your documents/music/whatever onto a CD then re-install. I do it every so often anyway, just to clean things up.
