Some Pink Floyd songs I love instantly and some take me a while to get into.
Does anyone else think that the Division Bell is a terribly dissapointing album? |
Well last night blew me away, they rocked...
I have semi-complete recordings of both CN solos. My phone locked up 1st solo, so i missed a bit...and iw as caught in the moment for the second one :( but i still managed to get a decent amount of each one. |
Reunion = :amaze:
|
i watched last night's gig on TV, they were awesome. shame Roger's voice isn't what it used to be.
|
Roger looked so happy while they were playing, and they hardly showed Rick.
|
My favorite part was at the end when Roger waved Dave, Rick and Nick in and had a kind of group hug thing. Hopefully they're good friends again.
|
i think it was very good, expecially compared to what it could've been
rumour has it syd was in the audience  |
When they cut in the middle of the solo in CN, I was amused (I would have been mad if I didn't have it on webcast at the same time) I found myself thinking "Solo too long for you MTV? What's that? Can't take it can you! Eh?? EH??!?"

The video of the set. First time I saw the whole thing because of my **** station cutting it at Money. Wish You Were Here was very moving, and Dave sounds as good as ever on guitar.. and singing too! |
I downloaded the bootleg (the AOL Music stream), since my piece of crap TV station only showed Wish You Were Here.
Highlights from the bootleg... Dave sharing a smile with Nick during WYWH. Roger's happy face during Money. The brief shot of Rick playing like a madman in Comfortably Numb. The group hug at the end. Roger saying how much he missed playing with "these guys". I hope they have worked out their differences... :) |
Most Underated Pink Floyd Song Ever.
Scarecrow, Seriously nobody ever talks about this great song. If you just lay down close your eyes and listen to this, it completely takes you away. I mean it paints such perfect picture, and I really dig Wrights playing in it.. It's one of the rare occasions where he really stands out. |
i just recently started listening to pink floyd cuz i found a copy of dark side of the moon, and liked it. After this i saw the wall, and i was just wondering if anyone can reccomend what cd i should get next

animals, or wish you were here. probably the latter. |
Best moment was easily the bend where gilmour shows his teeth in CN...
Syd won't have been in the crowd...before wish you were here they mention it is for sid + for anyone else that couldnt be there. |
Hey... is it just me or was Peter Townshend playing with David Gilmour's red strat that he used during Pulse and when he played with The Who in 1996?
|
Dude, have you listened to Atom Heart Mother? Its another 23+ minute song, and in my opinion its even better than Echoes, but thats just me.
It's got a great yet strange groove to it IMO, but it's a little too creepy when those weird noises come in. Oh and to whoever said DB was a disappointment.... shame on you... one of their best IMO. |
I love the show yesterday. Hopefully my dvd recorder worked, so I can watch it again. But everything was perfect. Gilmour can still sing, and play for that matter. Roger looked like he was having a great time, which is good considering their former arguements. The song selection was great. I wished they would've shown Rick a little more, but the few times they did it looked like he was having a good time.
Greatest thing ever. |
Dave sharing a smile with Nick during WYWH.
That was also one of my favorite parts. :) Good to see someone else noticed that |

I liked that part too, shows that they were having fun. A few people got to go right? Med, I think? |

I really doubt Syd was there. His sister (or something) said that she told Syd that Roger was going to play with the guys at the Live 8 concert, and he never said anything. She didn't think he'd be interested in watching it on television either.
I bet he did though. |
So are you guys still doing any covers?
|
I am ready to record for a cover. I don't care which song. All I know is that my guitar is restrung, and I'm ready to do this thing (especially after yesterday's show :D )
|
Off and on there's always talk of doing covers but as far as I know we haven't done any.
There's a Pink Floyd fan site with a pretty popular forum that recorded a whole Double Disk cover album with cover art and a big booklet. It's really neat, I'll go find it and put up a link. EDIT: Found the cover album. Actually a picture of the back cover of the album, has the playlist. http://www.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/npf_trib/Artwork/CDCoversAndDiscs/Back1_final.jpg And the actual album, booklet and all. http://forum.neptunepinkfloyd.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=8184 Good site. That's where I found the Live 8 video too. BTW, I'm not advertising it. Not even a member of it. |
what exactly was their differances that caused them to split up for 24 years?
|

I didn't even get to see them on Live 8 :upset:
I was away for the weekend, but now I'm watching on AOL. I can't fast forward though. |

arguing over songwriting control, name usage, and roger's ego. |

can one of you help me. So I was listening to Breathe from Dark Side of the moon and then I watched the Live 8 Pink Floyd Version. In the Live Version the is a line that goes something like "sit down and warm my bones by the fire". Its not on the cd or is it
|

Yes it is. But it comes after Time and it's titled Breathe (Reprise) It's suppose to go like ...
Home, home again I like to be here when I can And when I come home cold and tired It's good to warm my bones besides the fire Far away, across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithfull to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spell.
|
oh thats right! thanks. See I was looking for them somewhere in the first track....thank you
|
They're pretty serious. As if in he's basically a complete recluse in Cambridge, so nobody's really quite sure how serious they are, but the fact that he's barely appeared in public in 30 years gives us an indication of how serious they are. :( It's very interesting if he was around at the gig last night though...just makes the whole thing that much cooler really.
If I couldn't have seen Rick from where I was standing, I would have doubted whether he was on stage...I didn't see him on the screens at all. I guess they just decided to focus on Gilmour and Waters. But yeah, Roger was really loving it, at least from where I was standing. From all accounts MTV's coverage sucked. Not that that surprises me, but cutting midway through the Comfortably Numb solo in the band's first gig in 11 years/24 years depending on how you look at it, is one of the stupidest decisions I've ever heard.
Iīm from Brazil, and thank god mtv didnīt cut any parts from the show, no tv commercials or stupid comments from vjīs. |
arguing over songwriting control, name usage, and roger's ego.
Mainly roger's ego though :-P. |
I got pissed when they cut to the VJs during the Comfortably Numb solo. It was sacriligious(sp?).

That's really cool One thing that came to mind when I was watching Live8 was how the Latin American continent went completely unrepresented except, of course, for Shakira I guess since you saw in in Brazil uncut, and we in the US UK and Canada couldn't watch it without commentarty, South America had better representation than the English-Speaking world  |
