Once I get tone worthy stuff (MGs are NOT tone worthy), ill get learning the better ones.

I really need an American to give me an opinion on PLC, as I havent heard much. I saw their video ages ago, and cant remember what I thouhgt of it. I know its nothing like Tool or APC though, and much simpler for Danny. (obvious I know, but this is real baisc stuff)

TrainTakeMeHome 04-08-2005 03:05 PM
Link not working.

Check out the previews AJIG, It's not really my style, 90's metal pantera-esque...
I saw Pigmy at the "Negativ" (very small club) in Frankfurt Germany circa 1991. They called it the "Drink Free Forever Tour". Totally by accident, me and my buddy met up w/ 3 of the band members before the show at a pub down the street. Only after we had pounded several beers did we find out that they were the band members of Pigmy...the band we had planned on seeing that night(only because the Batschkapp was dead that night). Anyway, the band (from my native CA) was very cool to me and my friend. They took us to their VIP spread, fed us well, and gave us nice plug during their gig. Very cool. Also, the drummer claimed to have played w/ Black Flag previously.

Henry Rollins

was part of an early legendary punk band called

Black Flag

who's drummer was Danny Carey, who now plays for

Pygmy Love Circus

Who toured with

A Perfect Circle

whos vocalist, Maynard James Kennan also sings for

Tool

Who did a song featuring the vocals of

henry Rollins

At least the lie gave me some fun. Those guys are either victims to the salt jokes, or are complusive liars

Edit: Actually, didnt PLC have another drummer for a while? Maybe it wasnt so far fetched after all

clearvision 04-08-2005 03:28 PM

Is that a slsk username, AIM, MSN?

AJIG...wht?

EDIT: oic :(

Otherside 04-08-2005 03:47 PM
I know what the song "Stinkfist" is about, its about Anal Fisting -_0
This song isn't ABOUT anal fisting. It uses fisting as a metaphor for the technological advances that have become an addiction to our society for stimulation. An easy target would be reality shows. First there is one and it catches on and then there is two and now there is an entire market flooded with reality shows. It is about having seen, hearing, and done anything that could possibly entertain your mind and one dependance on media such as TV and books and music as mental stimulation when they really should possibly be spending more time thinking on their own. I know that it is a hypocritical thing to say on an internet forum but it's the truth.

BurtonChancellor 04-08-2005 07:10 PM

Yeah...probably not necessary to post comments now in reply to posts on the first page, Da_Machine. If you look again, you might notice that the post you're replying to was written about a year ago (well, 9 months to be exact, but I digress).

Anyways, as for Part 1 of the Oklahoma concert and people who haven't been able to get their hands on it, I tried uploading it a few days back, but it never made it through to yousendit. If there's anybody that would like me to though, I wouldn't mind trying to upload it again tonight.

Shadius 04-08-2005 07:14 PM

That would be great, i'd love to see that.

ThePatient 04-08-2005 07:20 PM
i was in coconuts the other day (CD store) and i saw these TOoL tribute albums done in different styles of music?!?! no lie, any one see those yet?
The String Tribute cds are great, the first one is definetly the better of the two. I also have some cd called "A Tribute To Tool", I only listened to it once right after I got it, it was sort of techno-ish, I hated it when I got it. It was bad enough that I dumped it in with all my old Will Smith and Backstreet Boys cds. So I think I'll take it out and give it another shot. :p

Werny 04-09-2005 01:34 AM

When I read that Tool were influenced by Meshuggah, I was thinking that means that it'll be brutal, the solos will be stranger, and there'll be a lot more time changes.

And when I read that they're influenced by Fantomas, well I've only heard two songs, but I guess that means they'll have either some odd samples, or really strange sounding instruments. Or they'll turn ultra-scary.

Either way, it works out. I hope that they'll still have "segues".

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-09-2005 01:04 PM

Desensitivity is what Stinkfist is about

Darkness 04-09-2005 04:01 PM

This is off topic but...

Has anyone else noticed that throughout Intolerance you can hear some of the riffs of prison sex in the backaround?? I think thats kinda cool...

Sleeper 04-09-2005 06:36 PM

I havent listened to Undertow in a while, But i noticed that also.

horseypie 04-10-2005 02:59 AM

i havent heard that....but then again im deaf

guitarist.kid 04-10-2005 08:26 AM

Just to know one thing, when is the new album coming out. I heard people saying it was in June? Is it true?

Darkness 04-10-2005 09:09 AM

Nobody knows yet.

Spades 04-10-2005 09:25 AM

Probably 2009.

Darkness 04-10-2005 09:35 AM

^ round that yeah... Thats what I was thinking.

Deyve 04-10-2005 09:42 AM

I may or may not get flamed for this, but does anyone else think that Stinkfist is similar to The Doors - Break On Through (To The Other Side)?

They both have a similar message I think: Push your mind through into another way of thinking.

Opinons, flames, agreement? Do go on.

Magicaltroll 04-10-2005 10:05 AM

Hey, what was that book called that had to do with a bunch of theorys and stuff that was called something like "Everything in this book is a lie, but its exatly the way things are"?
Is that the correct title, because te only thing I can find on amazon.com is a book like that, but it has something to do with the monument on mars or something. And a long time ago I looked up the book and it didn't have "mars" in the title at all.

It was on the "tools recommended reading list" thing.

Any help is apppreciated.

clearvision 04-10-2005 10:26 AM

Yeah, i think the list maybe wrong on tool's site. Bob frissell has two books that deal with sacred gemoetry 'something in this book is true' and the book you found, the one about ecosteric meanings of mars or something.

CHeck 'em out, then tell us if they are worth importing to england :p

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-10-2005 11:12 AM

Where are people getting this "June" idea? I've heard that from people, too. But my radiostations have all been saying "at the end of the year."

Magicaltroll 04-10-2005 11:20 AM

I think it will be at the end of the year also.
They would of already said SOMETHING if it was coming out in June.

And thanks for the book info.

Merkaba 04-10-2005 12:49 PM

Any songs that sound good acoustic? I think H could be done...and stinkfist maybe. Has anyone seen any acoustic versions or anything. I would love to do some tool at the local coffee shop! That would be different. I'm thinking about getting some songs together for their open mic night.

circlethedrain 04-10-2005 12:52 PM

I heard that Maynard wont even start doing Vocals until June so the album probably wont be out till around Christmas time.

Shadius 04-10-2005 12:55 PM

H. and Pushit would come to mind if any Tool songs were acoustic, although I think they would be lacking something. Tell us how they sound if you give it a try.

Shadius 04-10-2005 12:57 PM
I heard that Maynard wont even start doing Vocals until June so the album probably wont be out till around Christmas time.
Hasn't he been doing them since APC came back off tour? Give or take a few weeks.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-10-2005 01:00 PM

Its hard to do most drop tuning songs acoustic IMO. And its Adam's tones and effects that seperate him from the rest of the field. Take those away, and he suddenly becomes very average

As for MJK doing vocals, I can only imagine, since he's with them for each session, that he is working in some way. Whether its putting down guitar parts, or just sitting around for inspiration, I dont know.

Oh to be a fly on the wall.

Merkaba 04-10-2005 01:05 PM

yea...I think they should give us a snippet of them in the studio whenever they do put out a dvd. I mean...come on and lift some of that shroud of mystery. At least after they "retire"...hopefully a long way from now...

Adam Jones is GOD 04-10-2005 01:08 PM

There are a few stories around about the lateralus recordings. Most are boring, but the secret of their work board is still a nice enigma

Otherside 04-10-2005 01:20 PM

I think Schism and Parabola could make great acoustic songs. Lateralus too, if it was changed around a bit.

Shadius 04-10-2005 01:24 PM
I think Schism and Parabola could make great acoustic songs. Lateralus too, if it was changed around a bit.
Schism maybe, actually.

Parabola.. Psh, those lead guitar parts NEED to be electric. :p

clearvision 04-10-2005 01:26 PM

Most tool songs would work acoustic. Since adam loves the D-Maj barré shapes, you could strum along to that and have a second guitarist play the little licks...such as the schism riff, 46 & 2 riff etc...

Adam Jones is GOD 04-10-2005 04:30 PM

Tool have had their fair share of legal problems. Lets hope that has any effect at all, and fate takes pity on them.

My only thoughts over the album process being delayed is they really go nuts with this album and dont release until they've perfected it.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-10-2005 04:33 PM

/Plays The Patient.

I would like info too, but i still say if any tracks get leaked, ill not download them.I want the finished article. Hopefully Blair will decide to post an update on the site soon, instead of another blog entry.
