I would have probably guessed that a death metal drummer would be fastest although my knowledge of death metal is limited at best, that guy from deicide though, steve ashaim or something seems pretty fast. He might not be in the band anymore, i don't know cuz i've only got their first album.

bob the ripper apple. 10-27-2004 02:10 PM

you will all flame me for this , but i once saw a video of the slipknot drummer going crazy, and i've heard hes very good. where does he stand, double bass wise, to you all?

by the way, im not giving props to slipknot

Arise 10-27-2004 03:10 PM

Igor Cavalera is still my fav, that man is crazy

LordDargon 10-27-2004 03:54 PM

about Jordison:

Step 1:
Go to www.blackmetalradio.com

Step 2:
Go to episode 65, song 14 or 15 (can't remember which)
The song will be "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" by The Berzerker.

Step 3:
Listen as the bass speed increases to somewhere around 1500 bpm.

Step 4:
Forget about Jordison. Forever.

Berner 10-27-2004 03:58 PM
refl  Sacrifice has some dumb, unfounded hatred of death metal, so he doesn't know how fast the majority of death metal drummers on the the old twin kick.

Sandoval
Mounier
Corn
the Necrophagist guy
the Berzerker guy

Mithras's drummer is supposed to be immensely fast too.

Oh yeah, for Devastation, Idolatry is sounding really good, nice thick production. I also checked out their first album, however the production is really thin and the vocals are some of the worst I've ever heard. The guy doesn't even try to put in any intensity, he just talks. It's kinda sad and funny at the same time.
Add Flo from Cryptopsy and Pete Sandoval from Morbid Angel. (Check out Morbid Angel - Opening of the Gates. At about 1:30 you will be amazed).

RCA 10-27-2004 05:00 PM

For all of you who praise The Berserker's drummer, I just want to let you know that his set is heavily triggered, as he said so in an interview in Terrorizer magazine. Not that this takes away from the music, it's just I appreciate Flo and Pete's ability to do double-bass rolls that fast, with only their feet.

Dargon, you need to get on Soulseek so I can browse your files again, you had quite a DM selection.

sacrifice93.2 10-27-2004 05:21 PM
The drummer of DragonForce is much better than Portnoy, I reckon.
WHAT?!?!? Dude, the drummer from DragonForce plays like an ape. Take any thrash song, and compare it to Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and The Sleeper's drum part, and Portnoy will always come out on top.

wow thats some crazy drumming!
And by the way, its track 11 :)

UnknowN Doodl3.2 10-27-2004 07:47 PM

^i heard somewhere he can do 19 strokes with one hand in a second.... I dont really understand howe fast that is since Im not a drummer but its seems fast....

FatalEnergy 10-27-2004 08:23 PM

has anyone heard of this unsigned thrash band called Bistered Earth?

I have thier album its ****in' cool, if you go to thier web site you can check out a couple of songs

http://www.blistered-earth.com

RavenousMetalist87 10-27-2004 08:48 PM

Blistered Earth reminds me of a cross between thrash and Iced Earth guitars, but this song "Leading The Strike", it sounds like old Kreator guitar riffage. I'm digging it

manuscriptreplica 10-27-2004 10:03 PM

The Berzerker is like Petrucci, all he does is wank. He can play fast, doesn't make him great.

Mounier is the master of making drums fit perfectly, so he's got my vote for best drummer overall. The Dragonforce and Morbid Angel guys can double kick like ****, so they are the fastest in my book.,

LordDargon 10-28-2004 03:06 PM

Herm, lots of new stuff. I'll get busy.
Add Flo from Cryptopsy and Pete Sandoval from Morbid Angel. (Check out Morbid Angel - Opening of the Gates. At about 1:30 you will be amazed).
They were already there. :p

Triggering does not make drumming faster, it's simply a different way of collecting the sound information made by the drums. Head to the drum forum for an explanation.
^i heard somewhere he can do 19 strokes with one hand in a second.... I dont really understand howe fast that is since Im not a drummer but its seems fast....
That is 1140 strokes per minute. In comparison, the average thrash song (Angel of Death for example) has 210 snare strokes per minute. :amaze:

But teh bass drum is being played 16th notes at 210 bpm, making it 840 hits per minute.

LordDargon 10-28-2004 03:13 PM

We're talking about snares. One-handed. I'm right. :p

sensitiveorgan00 10-28-2004 03:17 PM
We're talking about snares. One-handed. I'm right. :p
I doubt he can play that for a prolonged period of time, or even more than a few seconds. That's 16th notes at 285 with one hand, it's just not possible.

LordDargon 10-28-2004 03:22 PM

yeah. but still. He's an animal.

I just got off slsk. be back in a few minutes. go post in Death Heads.

RCA 10-28-2004 04:28 PM

Recent Hauls:

Iced Earth - self-titled
Testament - Souls of Black
Deathchain - Deadmeat Disciples

All are good albums :thumb: I've had the Deathchain album on mp3 for a while now, so I already knew that it was ace. I think I posted about them in here a while back.

NP: Deathchain - Unseen Evil

LordDargon 10-28-2004 04:54 PM

Huh, I just heard their stuff on BMR and thought how they sounded like a brutaler version of Torture Squad. In other words, they kick equal amounts of rear and testicle. I couldn't find anything on SLSK though. Looks like we'll have to organize a trade ;)

FatalEnergy 10-28-2004 06:01 PM

well, I like I said before, I dont like Death metal, but I got Death - Sound of Perseverence and its pretty good, the vocals and the lyrics is what really makes me dislike Death metal and Im not a big fan of the playing either, but this Death album is pretty cool

Apocalyptic Raids 10-28-2004 11:46 PM

Xentrix anyone? Just got For Who's Advantage? off slsk and man, great stuff, reminicent of Justice era 'tallica

RavenousMetalist87 10-28-2004 11:56 PM

^ sounds like it's worth a listen to :D

JMetallica 10-29-2004 02:36 AM

I downloaded their albums a while back. I don't think it sounds too much like AJFT, though. It's just fun rockin thrash like Mortal Sin or sacred reich. Infact they sound almost identicle to Mortal Sin, i think. The vocals are only a slight varience for those of Mortal Sin, and the music even less so.

Definitely worth a listen though.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-29-2004 07:44 AM

just found out that Chuck Billy sang for exodus on the san francisco date of the megadeth tour, very cool.

RavenousMetalist87 10-29-2004 09:14 AM
just found out that Chuck Billy sang for exodus on the san francisco date of the megadeth tour, very cool.
I heard Chuck was the original vocalist for Exodus before Paul Baloff was.

Unless my brain sucks...lol but that is kickass that Chuck filled in for vocals. I am still waiting patiently for word on the new Testament album.

xentrix are great one of the best british thrash bands, i tried to get roadrunner to re-release their albums as 2 from the vault but they said there wasnt enough demand so igot a few more people to write in but nothing yet :(

I think I know what BMR stands for (blackmetal radio,,,I think) but what is SLSK?

metal-militia 10-29-2004 02:29 PM

SLSK is Soulseek

Nah. Steve Zetro used to be vocalist for Legacy/Testament for a few years however.

RavenousMetalist87 10-29-2004 10:55 PM

ohh well, I guess whoever told me that Chuck did vocals for Exodus once in the very far past was wrong.

:upset: I got pwned XD

SLATANIC-666 10-30-2004 08:31 AM

Seven churches came through the post this morning and i know its considred death metal but i think that it's more thrash and **** good thrash at that so i'm looking to get some more of their stuff. ideas anyone?

RCA 10-30-2004 08:43 AM

^Yes, If you can find it, go with "The Eyes of Horror" EP. :thumb:

metal-militia 10-30-2004 11:23 AM

Has anyone here heard of Onslaught? I downloaded some of their stuff and its pretty good :thumb:

Onslaught were my favourite British thrash band before Thrashmaster suggested Sabbat. Top quality stuff really, although a little sloppy early on in their career.

As for some possessed, Slatanic, get anything by them. Pretty much all of it rocks, and sure as hell none of it sucks. Check out Blind Illusion's 'Sane Asylum'.. Larry Lalonde from possessed played for them and although he wasnt the main contributor, they sound similar to possessed. Frenetic thrash with progressive elements that don't take away from the thrash. :D

Apocalyptic Raids 10-31-2004 12:49 AM

larry lalonde plays guitar for primus does he not?

FatalEnergy 10-31-2004 06:17 PM

yeah, but he used to be in Possessed

Shady Ultima 10-31-2004 08:29 PM

Any news lately on the new Slayer album?
I haven't been in here in awhile, so anyone know when its supposed to come out? Or the DVD?

RCA 10-31-2004 09:07 PM

I think that new DVD is out already, but I'm not sure.
