I really should get it sometime. I never see it around though.

Danger Bird 01-24-2007 08:04 AM

Download it!

I could send it, what's your e-mail?

It's pretty rare/expensive on vinyl, assuming that's what you're looking for. I've come across it twice, cheapest was 25 euros. I did hesitate a moment, but went for two Mahavishnu Orchestra albums that were only 10 euros together instead. Unless you don't have problems with bootlegs, then you might find something cheap, though I haven't come across a PATGOD-bootleg yet.
I shall have to disagree. Bike is really just a pop song, which I don't think should be taken very seriously. However, it's probably my least favorite song on Piper.

Interstellar Overdrive, on the other hand, rocks.
I said Bike because I think it's a funny song. I agree though, it's not that great.

rippa32 01-24-2007 05:04 PM

Well Id get it on CD if I could also find that. And Danger Bird I won't download albums from bands I really like.

you should buy from itunes if you can't find it in stores and don't want to download it (which i think it's good you don't)

rippa32 01-24-2007 09:30 PM

Don't have an Ipod. And besides I like to have a physical CD case and booklet or whatever. It just feels right.

Danger Bird 01-24-2007 10:52 PM

I have the mono edition on vinyl, it ran me up around 30 bucks I think. That's with shipping from Internet Land though.

MattSharpIsCool 01-24-2007 11:12 PM

I've only found PATGOD once on vinyl, and it was 30 bucks. That was at the spendy record shop though. If I could just find it at the place I shop at, it would probably be 15 at the most, more likely 10.

The Best Buy near my house has tons of copies of the CD, that's strange that you can't find it on CD. Have you tried Best Buy? Do they have those in Australia?

Danger Bird 01-24-2007 11:14 PM

Jim 01-24-2007 11:41 PM

The equivalent of Best Buy in Australia (or Melbourne atleast) would be JB Hi-Fi and I got my PATGOD in the bargain bin there for AUS $9.99. It's pretty common where I go.

rippa32 01-25-2007 06:03 AM

Mmm yer JB Hi-Fi might be the way to go but my closest one isnt all that close so I dont go there often.

Leper 01-25-2007 03:11 PM

I'm pretty sure I got PATGOD for my birthday. Pretty much all my other Floyd albums I bought in 2-for-whatever deals.

Jo Shoe Wah 01-25-2007 05:36 PM

I just went to see Roger last night in Sydney, holy crap it was awesome.

His voice was so much better than i thought it would be, and i couldn't have been much happier with the setlist. The lights and effects were awesome, they had his pig as usual, a big astronaut floating around the arena, and many explosions <_<

Who else went?

rippa32 01-25-2007 07:09 PM

Im going to the Brisbane one, now im really excited.

I got my PATGOD off of Amazon. (US) $10 is a pretty good deal ordered new.
And ya, if a band like Pink Floyd came out tomorrow, you probably wouldn't hear them on the radio or MTV very much.
if pink floyd came out tomorrow then chances are that the tiny world of western rock music would be too different to even warrant a superficial comparison

MattSharpIsCool 01-25-2007 08:30 PM

Exactly. If the exact same band released the exact same albums, a vast majority of people would just say "huh?"

Amit 01-25-2007 08:32 PM

so is that a criticism of pink floyd or what :-\

Yield 01-25-2007 08:32 PM

Yeah, I agree with this. It's kind of like what my dad says, that if Jesus walked onto a plain today, people would think he was a terrorist.

MattSharpIsCool 01-25-2007 08:39 PM
so is that a criticism of pink floyd or what :-\
No, not at all, it's just a fact. Pink Floyd's music would probably not be mainstream in today's music scene.

If Pink Floyd had never existed (or any number of bands from the 60's or 70's), and you didn't know any of their history, and they released an album, most people wouldn't listen to it or like it. Younger people would be much more likely to listen to Jermaine Dupri's newest shitfest than a Floyd or Zeppelin or Tull song.

The music would be the exact same, and there would be people who listened to it, but they wouldn't sell 400 billion copies of Darkside or whatever the number is at now.

Amit 01-25-2007 08:41 PM

lol @ classic rock elitism

if you're going to try and lord over another genre of music you better make sure your genre is the biggest fish in the pond first :-\

MattSharpIsCool 01-25-2007 08:45 PM

How is that elitism? Because I made fun of Jermaine Dupri? I was just telling it like it is. There's plenty of bad classic rock, in fact, the majority of the genre is pretty bad.

Ha, no. I listen to some rap and pop.

And Led Zeppelin is overrated ftw.

Yield 01-25-2007 08:55 PM

Yeah, Led Zeppelin is overrated. I like some of their stuff, but it's not as great as all people say.

Amit 01-25-2007 08:56 PM

all popular bands are automatically overrated :-\
