Wow, are these all the posts that were posted all the time I wasn't here? Crazy.
|
Trying not to spam.... Not working.
|
Spam sucks.
|
Seriously guys, stop it.
|
Hello everyone. I'll attempt to make this post not spam-o-rific.. So how are all of you? I myself am doing well. If all goes as planned, i might finally have a girlfriend after being single since September. I'm doing decent in school this this 9 weeks for once.. and my bass playing seems to be improving rapidly.
If this is spam.. sorry Jelle. |
Hello, everyone.
I'll address Eitri first: congratulations on those pieces coming together. A significant other must be a nice thing after being single for a number of months, any improvement in school deserves a necessary congratulations, and any increase in bassplaying skill also deserves a congratulatory message. Hello to everyone else. Congrats on 5,000, ICB. So I prepared my lecture for the class today, went downtown, and found out that I was to go first. Kind of intimidating, but it was alright. I printed out lecture notes for people (remember the search for that one comic? That's what I needed it for... supplemental material to go with the lesson), handed it out, and finished right at ten minutes on the dot. That meant I didn't get penalized (), and I got positive feedback. I got a 4.0 on it. Yessss. I also got my lesson plan back. Another 4.0. Yessss. Needless to say, I was relieved that that is over with. Now, it's just time to prepare my diversity presentation for tomorrow morning, write up a review for classics, and then start preparing for the writing finals for history and classics. The classics paper is going to me a bitch because I need to do incredibly well on it in order to 3.0 the class, which is what I need in order to be exempted from a whole bunch of general education classes. I also am going to write another Sputnik review tonight, even though one person commented on my last one :( |
Congrats on 5,000, ICB.
Cheers, buddy. 5,000 posts of pure quality. Well, 4,789 anyway  Testing's over for today, I'm so glad. |
'Sup thread?
Got home from school at 1-ish. God I love minimum days. |

Hey
|
Well, I got out at 12 but decided to roam the Los Alamitos High School area with my friends for a bit before catching a bus home.
|
I was really hoping that bitch got banned

Howdy fellas, and cheers to a three day weekend. Way to go on the lecture Jom, glad it went smoothly. What is this Sputnik you speak of by the way? Anyway, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, and Hypocrisy are only a day away. I'm quite stoked. Anyone else see(ing) them?
|
Sputnik's the site where you review CD's now. It's part of the Mxtabs family.

Malcolm basically got it right. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/ Just login with your same username and password as you would do on MX. Jeremy has been working hard in implementing it with the MX community, but there is an obvious lacking of any community spirit there. A lot of members are [successfully] boycotting it, and it has taken a lot of bumps and bruises in its BETA stage. Jeremy recently modded Med and Damrod as Sputnik-only mods, and for good reason, because there has been an influx of absolutely horrible reviews. |

And I think Superpeer has seen at least one, maybe a couple of those bands, so he should be able to say something. I've seen a video of live Hypocrisy, and they looked pretty good. I thought we were trying not to spam guys? This page fails so bad at it :-/
Don't you hate it when you think someone's looking at you, but they're actually looking at someone behind you? That's such a bad way to go :( Anyways, I'm going to try and finish my lab early for once so that I can go to karate for the first time in two months this weekend. See you all later. |
Hello everyone. Say hello to a car-accident victim!

Hello. What happened?
Don't you hate it when you think someone's looking at you, but they're actually looking at someone behind you? That's such a bad way to go :(
I know what you mean, but it hasn't happened in a while. Now I tend to just look, and not worry about whether who/whatever I'm looking at is looking back. |
My small S10 pickup got t-boned by a 2003 Ford 5150.
Funny thing is, his truck had more damage. I'm alright, no injuries. :) |

Most likely, his.

I'm really digging The Wildhearts at the moment Bartender as well...I'll probably pick up Earth vs The Wildhearts next time I'm drawn towards my local CD shop.
:)
On a completely random side note, my school hired a rabbi recently as a replacement for one of our RS teachers who's on maternity leave. He's currently proceeding to tell the GCSE group of students at my school that "Muslims can never be trusted", "homosexuality is evil", and when anyone tries to argue with him, he responds that he's a man of God. I swear you can't make this stuff up sometimes... :upset:
Looks like you need to organise some kind of complaint/protest there. Where is your school, exactly? The only problem I ever had with my RS teacher was that he was too cool for his own good. One of the best teachers I ever had. |
Sorry B-man. :(

Has anyone else noticed that kids today just don't care?
It's kind of disheartening...laziness, combined with some healthy cynicism, have bred a "I dunno, who cares?" kind of attitude around our generation and younger generation. No one keeps up with the news or with world issues today, no one seems to be informed enough to have a healthy political viewpoint. One of my cousins is 19 years old and she doesn't even know who Dick Cheney is. It's really upsetting that one day these people will be running the country, and it's another reason why I want to be in politics. |
Neither of us can actually do anything in there though. :( I spoke to Jeremy about it, and he tried making me a local mod in a forum here (yes, the coveted job of Other Equipment Reviews local moderator) to see if that worked, but it didn't.
*feels useless* ... On a completely random side note, my school hired a rabbi recently as a replacement for one of our RS teachers who's on maternity leave. I swear you can't make this stuff up sometimes... :upset:
Wow, that sucks. Jeremy needs to get on that. I am not sure as to what he has to do to get it to work, but it needs to get done soon. And it's sadly true about how you can't make up things like that. One of my high school teachers a couple years ago (who was ironically my football coach) would always tell these stories, and he'd always end it with, "True story, I can't make this stuff up, I'm not that smart." If magicbus was here, he'd know exactly who I'm referring to (if he had this particular teacher, I mean). I have to agree with Bartender that some intervention needs to take place. Either that, or chop off his curls. |

This guy swerved round the corner and hit my dad's van, I had a kind of horrible whiplash, it was so uncomfortable. And the icing on the cake was, the guy who hit us actually tried to blame my DAD and get money off him, where the hell is any of this thing we call "Morality" ? But yeah, I was 5 when that happened, possibly a reason I'm kinda insane now, probbably not. Good to hear you're OK :). And hello to everyone :) EDIT: Johnny: My weird kinda prototype F.A. on Soundgarden is almost ready, just as a side not, when is it due? Thanks. |
Well, since kids these days were brought up in a "right here, right now" world of technology and things, they want instant gratification, and they tend to get it, which directly affects laziness and apathy towards the world. Change is a gradual process, and they don't understand that. Kids are using tools like the Internet and computers for lazy things: gaming, browsing, Ebaying, etc. because that gives them instant gratification. Psychologically, they don't have an ego, because the id is drastically overpowering the superego. I'm not saying those things are bad, but technology is improving so rapidly that instant gratification seems to be the ultimate end of all things to come. It's like that Offspring song... Americana, I think it's called. He says something about how his generation doesn't like to wait, which is essentially very true. A lot of people don't care about world events, I find, because they just assume that the people we put in power will protect us. Well, that's what they're paid to do, we elect public officials to put in office to make the decisions for us, and when all of a sudden something needs our attention, a lot of people will turn away and, I guess, become lazy. I also think that there is a time when you need to be introduced to politics so that one has a better understanding of the matter. I don't think you can throw someone in blindly into politics and expect them to know all the intricacies that are involved. $0.02 |
God, I get confused on this all time. Please clarify id, ego, and superego....I've heard them a million times but I never remember.
I hear what you're saying. America doesn't want to think for itself. Maybe this dates back to McCarthyism? I'm not sure. But I think there is cynicism involved. It's not even informed cynicism, but I think that the clowns that have been put into office--Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, the Bushes, even Clinton to an extent, have turned kids off. They throw their hands up and say "Everything's hopeless, I don't want to be part of this". They use it as an excuse for their laziness, I think. Eh, I can't explain myself well, it's just general malaise towards the indifference of our generation. |
