Be quiet, Mr. RealPlayer Rhapsody.

ArtificialLife 04-04-2005 08:54 PM

i just ordered a live performance from the in the flesh tour, it's got all of animals, all of WYWH, plus a bunch of others. can't friggin wait for it to come in

rippa32 04-05-2005 06:21 AM
Ive never seen it less then $35 new. The only more expensive album ive seen is the White Album
How much is the white album?

SeasonOfTheMad 04-05-2005 08:52 AM

So i just downloaded "Floyd live in Venice 1989," and I'm pretty disappointed that Nick Mason has a backup drummer, and it looks like the backup is doing most of the fills and the hard stuff. whats up with that?

standard 04-05-2005 12:54 PM

rippa, I belive he's talking about The Beatles White Album.

On the backup drummer stuff.. No idea on that.

lunch998 04-05-2005 01:37 PM

He's one of few musicians that I've heard get worse over their recorded history. I understand if a musician is strung out on heroine or something that they aren't going to be in top form, but normally the person's skills tended to increase.

Shazzam 04-05-2005 01:43 PM

Are you guys talking about that drummer that stood up and played? Or maybe that's in Pulse. Anyways, that guy is amazing.

Distant Echoes 04-05-2005 02:01 PM
How much is the white album?
Its $35 bucks if the stores are having a sale. Normally i think it goes for $42 at most. Its such a ripoff its rediculous

magicbus 04-05-2005 02:24 PM
A lot of places have it for 30$.
I meant I think I got it for around $20 too.

Josh 04-05-2005 02:41 PM

Hello Floyd Fans!
I've got DSOTM, and I've heard shine on you crazy diamond and another brick in the wall, what album should I get next? I was thinking WYWH, but I'm not sure...

Kingofdudes 04-05-2005 02:42 PM

mos def WYWH. Not a single bad song on there.

Josh 04-05-2005 02:52 PM

OK, thanks. and another question - I know there's 2 parts to Shine on you crazy diamond on wish you were here, but are there any other parts on other albums?

Josh 04-05-2005 03:00 PM
No, although Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Part 1) is actually made up of parts 1-5 of the song, and part 2 is made up of parts 6-9.
I fully agree with this...after WYWH get Animals and The Wall.
ah, that would explain why when i downloaded it I couldn't just find parts 1 & 2; in the end I got the whole song as one file, all 17 minutes of it.
I may get WYWH tomorrow, as I'm going to town :thumb:

DeusExMachina 04-05-2005 05:13 PM

Definitely do. WYWH is their best CD, personally.

magicbus 04-05-2005 05:19 PM

123, and I rarely use that phrase.

corporalclegg 04-06-2005 03:19 AM

Is Live at Pompeii worth the money? Is this the best live Pink Floyd dvd?

dUSK 04-06-2005 04:25 AM

I got Live at Pompeii not long ago, and I'd say it's definately worth the money. I have no idea how much it cost though, it was gift.

moaner 04-06-2005 05:00 AM
Is Live at Pompeii worth the money? Is this the best live Pink Floyd dvd?
Yes, its very good.

I prefer animals, and meddle to WYWH. I just feel tracks 2 and 3 on WYWH really drag the album down, whereas the only parts of animals i don't like is the first half of dogs, and all of meddle is great except maybe san tropez.

moaner 04-06-2005 05:03 AM

I hate welcome to the machine.
I hate welcome to the machine.
It's an awesome song. What don't you like about it?

rippa32 04-06-2005 05:46 AM

What do people think of the Final Cut? There is absolutely no talk about it so I only recently heard of it through a discography.

Riva 04-06-2005 05:59 AM

It's pretty much Roger's album.

Think of it as a concentration of the emotions in the first half of the Wall, Disc 1.

rippa32 04-06-2005 06:11 AM

Ok. Ill have to get the Wall still. If id only known that $42 was a good price.

magicbus 04-06-2005 06:52 AM

Pompeii is definently worth the money.

Modestbob 04-06-2005 09:52 AM
What do people think of the Final Cut? There is absolutely no talk about it so I only recently heard of it through a discography.
The Final Cut is my least favorite Album. I have it on vinyl and i freaked out when i found it (before i heard it). and halfway through listneing to it i was like "man this is crap". and since then i have only listened to it 2 and a half times. I think it is missing the feeling of a PF album, because Roger pretty much stunk it up. Altough A Momentary Lapse of Reason (pretty much a Dave solo) was a decent album.

standard 04-06-2005 01:06 PM

The Final Cut is a VERY good album. Waters' father was killed in WW2, so this is kind of a dedicated to him, and The Wall was about how he felt growing up.

The Flethcer Memorial Home has a relation to his father. It was, I think his dad's either middle name, or first name.

My dad has a TFC on a record. Infact, that's what got me into Floyd. He told me to download the songs and burn it.

Haha  Your are the exact opposite of me. Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar are my favorite tracks on WWYH, the first half of Dogs (through the first solo) is my favorite part on Animals, and San Tropez ranks just behind Echoes for me.

That just goes to show how different peoples tastes in music are.

Distant Echoes 04-06-2005 01:37 PM

Unlike everybody i know, Have a Cigar is my least favorite song on wywh. Im still debating if its my favorite album though, and im still deciding whether to learn it in its entirety on guitar.

weatherman123 04-06-2005 02:29 PM

i think theres obviously a huge difference between liking a song least on an album and not liking a song

with that being said,
i like welcome to the machine least on wywh

Yeah but the worst song on WYWH is better then most songs.

I say their best cd is A Saucerful of Secrets. I think the band works amazing together on that album, and its the only one to feature all the members.

Speaking of Saucerful, I know I asked before but does anybody know who wrote the guitar for Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun? Because I have a pre Gilmour days bootleg (Syd's Sugercube) and Set the Controls is on there. So did Syd write the guitar?
