I'm going back this Friday. It's conveniently on the way to the NHS walk-in clinic.
I think I'm going back later on, as a kind of excuse to meet up with a friend back in Newcastle. Also, why are you going to the walk-in clinic? On topic, I haven't really listened to much music today. My mp3 player was out of batteries, and I've been playing on my newly fixed PS2 otherwise. |
Also, why are you going to the walk-in clinic?
A couple of friends are pressuring me to, because of a big burn wound I've got on my hand. (I spilt coffee over myself last Thursday.) Just making sure it's not infected, or whatever. I figure I've got more chance of catching a disease if I go. |
At the moment, I've been really diggin one of the new 'Bright Eyes' albums. the 'I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning' one.
A cross between Damien Rice and Ryan Adams :D |
Elliott Smith
Beck Afrika Bambaataa Shpongle NoMeansNo Frank Zappa Nicholas Payton That's what I've had playing today. |
I'm seriously in love with Calexico - Convict Pool at the moment.
I've just dug out the ol' Dredg - El Cielo too. I don't know why I haven't listened to this for so long :-/ So i'm diggin this too |

You should bring some joy into your life and listen to Bjork :p |
I just mean that I listen to some weird combinations of shit. I mean, up to Afrika Bambaataa and down to Elliott Smith is quite a contrast of mood.
|
I finally saw 24 Hour Party People the other night and now all I want to do is listen to Joy Division.
|
They have that at the rental place down the road from me. I keep meaning to get it out, but I never seem to.
|
You should get it, it's very good.

I was wondering, Afrika Bambaata and Sphongle, moody?
Does moody mean something different in America then? Here it generally means depressive. Anyway, today I had a mainly post-punk day, because I basically gutted my coursework, ripped it all apart, and redid it from scratch. My post-rock version of a Smiths song has now become a post-punk version of Black Velvet by Alannah Myles. Think about it - references to 'molasses' and 'a new religion'? This is practically a Radiohead song! And that paragraph was wierdly YDLoad-esque. Anyway. Joy Division - Permanent Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine Depeche Mode - Violator The Cure - Disintegration Talking Heads - Remain In Light And some assorted Gang Of Four and Magazine, and even a little Can. |

Oh I see.
/resist urge to put 'oic' |

But only in the paragraph that wasn't like you! That was my own incompetence!
|
I've been listening to what I assume to be a legit version of "Suspended Animation" from Fantomas.
|
Zongamin is a good find.
+ Prefuse 73 - Surrounded by Silence Elysian Fields - Queen of the Meadow Stars - Set Yourself on Fire Mouse on Mars - Audiotacker Mum - Yesterday was Dramatic Today is Ok |
K-os : "Joyful Rebellion", specifically the songs Crucial, Commandante, Clap Your Hands, One Blood, Neurotronics, and ( my favorite) Papercuts.
this was the first hip hop album i ever bought, which i purchased on a whim after hearing a handful of songs from Exit. I always was "anti" - rap, and thus closed myself off to anything similar. But listen to the songs i mentioned (go to his website); instruments, singing, smart lyrics - the guy has talent (the cds not flawless, however its very good). Yes, its over played, but there are gems i tell ya, GEMS. |
Found my old Mad Season "Above" album, a timeless classic...
|
blood brothers - the shame
what a great song!!! that's probably my favorite song on their burn piano island burn cd. |
Frank Zappa - G Spot Tornado
|
I've been listening to Beck - Odelay and the Decemberists - Castaways and Cutouts.
Both are great. |
I went back to the HMV sale.
My haul for today. The Clash - The Clash (4 for £20) Rolling Stones - Exile On Main St. (4 for £20) Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food (4 for £20) The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico (4 for £20) The Sundays - Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic (£5) Katatonia - Viva Emptiness (£6) I bought Katatonia blind, on the recommendation of one of the few people where I live who has taste as good as mine. |
