Surfer Blood is good in a contained way. Like, driving around town with friends really high, it hits like any great albums does. You could fault it for a bunch of ****, like not being original in the least, but David Lynch

Currently digging Menomena - Mines. Having followed the band for a few years, it's only been in the last few months that I've been floored by their work. Something happened, I don't know, but damn this band is tops.

i confess that surfer blood didn't really interest me enough to make me check them out--i've heard 'swim' and liked it, but i'm pretty sure i don't really need an album full. seems less than essential; even the positive reviews seem to say that the album is kind of a 'if-you-have-time-on-your-hands-check-this-out' deal.

also pains of being pure at heart only have two songs i really like (contender and young adult friction). the rest gets tired very, very fast.

i'm really loving miles davis - sketches of spain lately (and miles davis in general, i guess). perfect atmosphere **** here and 'concierto de aranjuez' blows me away every time.

the first song and swim on the surf blood album is good but the rest just so ****ing try hard and boring
