I've started to listen to all sorts of music. I used to be into basically hardcore and pop-punk, but I've branched out quite a bit lately.

Hip-hop, post-rock, indie, metal. I even saw a couple jam bands last month.

Next I want to try some Jazz/Jazz Fusion.

Yup. It has interested me though so I'll probably end up getting it sooner than later.

I've been not listening to much Jazz on my own though because I get so much of it via my roommate's listening as is.

This will be the first Jazz album I ever listen to, I think.

The only time I ever listen to jazz at all is when I'm in my dad's car, listening to XM radio. I usually stop and listen to a little jazz on my way to thre reggae channel. :p

Haha, well bear in mind MO and DiMeola are both Jazz Fusion, which I imagine will be more accessible to you than just Jazz, because it mixes in other styles as well. When you get into regular Jazz...can't go wrong with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, etc...

Right. I figured it would be best to start with Jazz Fusion to sort of 'ease my way' into jazz.
